I have never understood why some people have to have everything.

I have 11 vehicles total, 3 of which I never use.

I just don't see the point... I'd rather just play around in the sandbox and have fun...

Well, in some cases you'll be needing a bunker or facility to own a specific vehicle. I wanted rockets for my Deluxo for easy missions farming. Had to get a bunker, an MOC and put the workshop in the MOC to get rockets on my car.

Those missiles give me the opportunity to enjoy the game as I play it. I can't help owning all that sh*t, just because R* wants to put goodies behind a wall...

NEWS FLASH: People have their own preferences. I want it all.

Well, that's certainly how it all started for me, lol. Always been one to hold back as I'll only ever buy what I want really.

Though, after the fun I've had over the years. Money builds up, toys were added. Why not?. If I want a tougher challenge on a job, I'll not use these things, lol.

Just another playing style to be honest. For some its great. As for me, no way I'm dropping 4 years of earning and playing

Likewise - I've got way too much time and money invested in both of my online characters. Not going back to the simple life.

However, I have adopted nearly the OP's described lifestyle, by starting a new single player game when I upgraded to PS4. I've only done the first 10 missions or so, and now I play as Franklin, just exploring around the GTAV world, with all of its extra single player detail, and its realistic constraints.

Franklin's only got between $1,000 to $2,000 in his pocket, and he starts out each day at his aunt's house, uses his own car, and tries not to get a wanted level just for living and driving in Los Santos. Just like the real world. He sometimes heads north and explores some new areas on foot. Dogs and cats and deer and bobcats and birds and bunny rabbits. It's a nice, simple life.

And it's also nice not getting blow up by jet trolls. Or timing out every 15 minutes.

I dig where the OP is coming from.

I like how OP thinks. I’ve tired this on one of my accounts and it works depending how you wanna play gta. On my main account I’ve got some much unnesscary content that I didn’t even know I still had. Flip side is I can enjoy all of it because it’s there. I get what you guys are saying though.

honestly i flippy like it! that's the reason i want a third fluffy character! my main character got to have everything there is.. and unfortunately i've bought too many things for my second character i don't want anymore (yacht, office, warehouse, two apps etc)... so depending on my mood i can go fully equiped or fully not equiped hihihi. why i don't restart my second character? i have too much achieved and i couldn't delete her! so a third one please hihihi great topic!

Well, to each their own, I guess. I wouldnt want to get rid of all my stuff, because I like so much of it, and often find use for most of it. If Id sell all my cars to only have one, Im sure Id want to buy some of them back sooner or later. I have already made that mistake a couple times.

I like my car collection the most, I think. But then Im not one of those players who always drives the same car. I like to switch cars often, and almost never ask my Mechanic for the same car twice in a row for example.

What I dont understand is;

1) The purpose of having more than one of the same car. I will never understand that behaviour. The only one car I have two of is the Dominator, because I want one liveried Pisswasser Dom for racing circuits/purposes (which I never use in free mode) and another that has a regular paintjob (for free mode). Other than that its beyond me why anyone would want more of the same vehicle. Like 5 Comet SRs for example. If someone wishes to enlighten me, please go ahead!

2) Why anyone would want all their cars (in one garage or in several) in the same color. Its so boring? But maybe its OCD. I have a little bit of OCD in me but still I much prefer to find paintjobs, mods and liveries that make a car unique and that really makes it pop.

I had a character (my first, before I created my female char who has since become my nr1) who I did sell everything with (again, to free up cash for my female char), so he just had a house in Paleto Bay, a Blazer, a motorcycle, and some rusty vintage car along with the few Pegasus vehicles that I couldnt sell. I never played with him..

I wouldn't downgrade that much though for the longest (til Heists came out) I stayed with either the 2 car garage under the bridge or 6 car in the desert which I still spwan into.

But I do agree.

I do Missions and Heists because I love co-op and mission based challenges so I own what I need to accomplish those goals.

Purchased an expensive property to become CEO and I've never been inside. Did it for the CEO Heal ability in Heists

Ditto the bunker and facility.

In game I still rock my Osiris (it's old but there hasn't really been a better supercar released IMO)

Still spawn in the desert.

I play the game modes I enjoy and ignore the trappings that drive people nuts.

No Import Export. No Drug or Gun Running. I don't own a Hangar. I won't purchase every new supercar or gimmick vehicle unless like the Deluxo or Oppressor they lead to having fun playing with game mechanics and stunting.

Game has an overwhelming amount of stuff to the point I can't be bothered with trying to do everything buy everything be everything.

Again not minimalist like OP but I totally get it.

I like owning lots of toys so when I get bored, I can pull out something I haven't played with in a while and have some fun. A lot of what I enjoy about the game also is customization - changing my character's outfit, changing the look of my properties and cars, etc. Hard to enjoy the full potential of that without buying lots of stuff to customize.

For instance, I've got an office garage 2/3 full of just lowriders. Mostly Benny's cars, but also some of the lowrider-ish street vehicles (Manana, Peyote, Emperor). I drive them all occasionally but the main reason I own them is because it was really fun for me to make them. And now that I own them I don't want to sell them, because they cost a lot of money and I will occasionally want to drive or re-customize them. It's a creative outlet.

Mentioned this earlier, but I used to have two Armored Kurumas--one as backup in the event that one got destroyed and I needed another quickly without having time to call Mors Mutual and wait for it to be restored.

But since the Duke 'o Death is out (a reasonable replacement), I've since sold the extras for both characters.

I will say this--the ONE notification I really appreciate is the new one reminding you on initial spawn that one of your vehicles was destroyed:

vehicle_destroyed_reminder.png

This is actually helpful, and saves you embarrassment later on trying to call for a vehicle that you forgot was totaled.

I do the maximalist approach  I try in every game I always do the side quests first to get the best gear.

If I have a car that I really like, I might like it so much that I like two different styles for it. Livery... bodykits... color.

I've got a couple of cars where I have multiples, most notably the Elegy Retro Custom, because there are two particular styles for it that I really like, on one of them I like to stance it and it's fully suped-up, on the other it's a little more modest.

I guess it all comes down to what you like. A friend of mine has a 10 Nero/Nero Customs just because it's based on his all time favourite car. To each their own.

1) Some cars have so many combinations of mods that you can make them look completely different, several times over. I'd counter this by asking how you can possibly only have one vision for each vehicle.

2) Uh, yeah, that's dull as f*ck.

I have three Buccaneers currently that all look completely different: a muscle car version (like what you find on the street) with muscle wheels and a two-tone paint job; a hot rodder/lowerider version with the flame livery, hardtop roof, and minimal Benny's-ization; and a total lowrider with Benny's wheels, no roof, one of the pimped-out liveries, and all kinds of interior mods. These three cars are incredibly different animals, so that's why I own three. I also own two Sabre Turbos, several Tornados (including the mariachi and rat rod variants), and so forth.

I think it's a little more weird when someone has a garage full of nearly identical armored Kurumas or something (a friend of mine used to have this - ended up selling most of them much later), but whatever makes them happy.

My new account has a minimalist approach, there are things I won't do with, like owning MC businesses, buying all stupid weapons in the game, I will keep the number of property slots to a reasonnable lvl. No crates...I'm not even sure I will bother with the Bunker research, I start psychoting when I see I've only unlocked 5/51 projects, I get some flashback of those tints for guns. Stress issues lol.

Beside, I've got most aircrafts I wanted. I will probably get a Savage to counter those sneaky Nightsharks though.

I'm always broke there, to grind again IE is hard.

Cars: I'm not really into cars, I guess I will buy SUV Insurgent, Schafter V12, Vapid Contender, and maybe a T20 or something in the super sportive category.

I completely understand owning several versions of the same vehicle if they all look unique and different from each other or if they have unique functions (homing vs barrage option for instance).

What I dont understand is why youd want a garage full of one type of car, all looking and behaving pretty much the same way. As with having all cars in the same color, it just feels unimaginative.

4 cars left of 59. That was a massive pruning of dusty cars. I have only a Deluxo, Mamba, Nightshade and a Duke o Death left and have no need of any other car at all. One workhorse, 3 cruisers and that’s it.

If only I could sell the stupid MC, Hangar and yacht. Oh yeah, and a vehicle cargo storage which I have no need for. I’d love to get rid of that too.

The only thing I enjoy is doing contact missions and goofing around town and could care less about the rest.

I wouldn't get rid of all my stuff right now, but I have considered doing a thing where I just go on walkabout without any of it for some time.

Walk from north to south. If anyone kills me, I just keep walking and don't even engage them. See where that gets me!

Probably in a nerdrage of some kind.

Either way, it's gonna be a mighty long walk..... If that's how you have to keep things interesting..., it might be time for a different game. No offense.
