What I'm interested in is you coming back here to let us know whether the visuals are equal to or better than the first game, and whether there is any more dynamism to the environment. Unless the gameplay is significantly changed--specifically the outrageous bullet sponginess--the realism would be the only thing I'm curious about.

Shot ya a PM and just wanted to reiterate "only if no one else claims the last key".

Dying to play though.  Been looking forward to this release for a bit now.  I've been watching vids of The Division 2 and Metro Exodus  - getting hyped.

Got my invite and pre-load downloaded. Pretty interested in this now after Anthem on PC is oof. Wasn't keen on the whole item sets model they had in the first game and look to be going with here but hey, loot's loot.

I've not read into it much detail yet but it sounds like they've got a real plan for the end-game this time around too. The open world end-game stuff sounds like it could be fun, and variety at end-game is always key.

Hey.  Just got a note from XBL.  Turns out my cheap preorder was enough to get beta access.  Installing now...looking forward to tomorrow..  sweet.

Post impressions, plz. I actually enjoyed the first game once I realize it was a looter shooter, not a TPS like Ghost Recon. Granted, I never touched the DZ, but I enjoyed roaming NY and partaking in the storyline skirmishes.

It looks like streaming is allowed.  I'll stream via mixer when I play tonight.

I registered for the Beta, but I doubt I got a beta key, I'll have to check later.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing other people play the game. Hopefully it's good. I had a good time with The Division, there just needs to be more meat to the base game.

The lack of end game content was the killer for the first Division at launch, but the later content and DLC added so much it became a totally different game after that.

I'm looking forward to the 8 man squad runs.  Given how crazy the end game raid runs were in the first one, they have a lot of promise.  I have lots of fun memories of trying to reach that damned crashed chopper in the square, as well as the fire pit that was trying to destroy the fire truck in the sewers guarded by Cleaners.

Yep, It's a real shame. A lot of people simply just left after Launch and never returned to the game, despite it having some great post-launch content and they made a ton of great updates over time. They really need to keep people hooked from the get go otherwise it will end up dying out again, unfortunately. If they do it right, this could be a huge game on Twitch as well, as many streamers liked the first game there just wasn't enough content to keep viewers interested.

I hope the Raids are a bit more fleshed out. They need to be much longer, and feel worth it. Destiny has some pretty great raids, The Divison always felt a bit lacking in that department.

Edit: Oh damn, as it turns out I actually got a key. Thanks Ubisoft. I only registered two days ago for it, honestly shocked.

I've only ever heard people criticize the "end game" of The Division. But I imagine that a big reason the end game has so often been focused on is because it arrives so quickly.

For the kind of game I thought The Division was going to be, the content was sorely lacking. I finished all of the primary content in under thirty hours, and my play times for games are always significantly higher than official times and those usually reported by others. I explore and experiment, and generally try to enjoy the scenery as much as possible.

I know that there are people who are only interested in max-level content, but for people who are also interested in the journey, I think that that experience needs to be considerably beefed up as well. It wasn't just the end game, the entire game was rather anemic in my opinion.

I admit though that if The Division 2 is just as bullet spongey as the first game I probably won't be playing it anyway. I just don't get how anyone can find such combat fun and rewarding! Cut the number of required hits by 80% and give me five times as many enemies! That's fun--that takes skill! I don't get the excuse that it's an RPG, as normal enemies in WoW are dispatched quickly as long as one is the correct level, not to mention that WoW's combat is made even more interesting due to the ability to switch between any number of attacks.

Alright, alright...I'm done!

The whole addition of the Black Tusk faction is really cool. I love this concept for keeping gameplay fresh and challenging especially during the endgame. The first game was sorely lacking in this point.

I still got the 3 keys if anyone wants them. I assume you don't want one anymore @trip?

If you do let me know, cause they're going to run out either way.

I'm cool.  Big thanks.

Been playing for nearly 2 hours now.  Lots of that time was with a random, which was kind of fun.

It's very much "The Division".

Pray, what is the install size for the beta?

Edit: About 50 GB for PC?

I think it's a few gig under 50gb.

It's The Division is definitely the most apt thing I can say after trying it earlier. Didn't dig too much into it as I was getting some meh performance (a new CPU is badly needed, I think) but it feels like they trimmed a lot of the excess fat and some of the skill stuff I saw looked quite interesting. The UI was a lil bit cumbersome on PC but it's alright. Controls great just like the first game though. Really like the idea of settllements and it looks like they have a bit of life to them too, saw people moving about depending on the time of day etc. Pretty cool.

What do you have now? Something like a 4770K, which is what I have, should be fine even into the near future, unless one is targeting more than 60 fps.

Can you tell us more about the performance of the game--your resolution and game settings, and approximate framerates?

I have a 4790, paired with a 1060 6GB and I had no trouble reaching 90fps quite easily, even with all the detail, but I did switch to DX12 as that is not set as default.  The game seems to looks much nicer too, I found DX11 a little muddy by comparison.  Although I did encounter a GPU memory leak that forced me to reset the game every 3 hours or so, but it was the only annoyance for this Beta so far, it's manageable.

I'm actually impressed, made it to the Dark Zone last night and the game feels good.  The improvements from Div1 are noticeable under the hood, although gameplay wise not much has really changed.  The guns and gunplay however feel better, but the actual movement feels stiff!

Maybe it's just me, but my mates complained as well.

There's a service patch this morning, it'll be interesting to see what changes.

4670k and a 1070 which is fine for 1080p but the issue is I'm at 3440x1440 now. I was able to get like 30-40fps on high (not max) and something like 50-70fps on low but regardless of settings I kept getting frame drops, particularly during combat even though nothing intensive was going on. Not a lot of the gfx settings really made an impact for me when changed either.

Played a few hours so far.

It's exactly what I expected, and that's fine. There seems to be much more depth than the first game, even in the Beta, which is good. It looks like this game is going to launch with much more content right off the bat. I also like some of the changes they made, and some of the new skills such as the drone is pretty dope.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is the graphics. Not that they are bad, but it looks exactly the same as the first just with a different map and colour palette.

Even down to the "Division Orange" used in the UI.

There's better scenery in my opinion, much more clutter items. I quite like just walking around.

Foliage is pretty weak though.

I'm gaming at 3840 x 2160 now. I just finished DOOM 2016, and with maxed settings (minus junk) was averaging way over 100 fps and at certain camera angles pegging the 200 fps limit with my 4770K. It's your GPU that's limiting your framerates.

If you run the Task Manager, you can see where your CPU usage is at when your framerates are low. Unfortunately, console toss-ports are going to require a lot more processing power than they actually need due to inefficient code. This is especially true of deferred rendering engines which are optimized for lower resolutions.

for some reason I am 100% ok with that.  usually if a game reuses assets too often I find myself thinking of the devs as lazy and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but with the UI of TD2 I feel more like the game is direct sequel, picking up the remains of the virus, than other games where too many changes feel like the difference between a Hollywood flick and a cheap made for TV movie sequel of that same movie.

I'm only keeping an eye on this because I'm from the DC area. Aside from Fallout 3 and Payday 2 I'm surprised that there hasn't been a lot of games set here. Don't know If I'll buy it though.

Isn't Saints Row IV set in D.C.? I only played the demo--I just remember the intro took place in the White House, if I recall aright.

Only the intro takes place in DC. Then it goes to Steelport.
