TheDon1223
In times like these I like looking at art depicting the old west, in order to stoke my hype a little. There have been a few posts in the general chat before, but i thought I'd make a specific topic for it.I wonder what Rockstar use as inspiration for their expansive and atmospheric worlds other than films. I like to think that they have a similar process of trawling through western themed art for a certain amount of inspiration. When I find a cool looking shot I wonder if RDR2 might be like it in some way. Here are a few i like at the moment, look forward to everyone's finds. VigMarston
I can help you, if you don't mind. Upload the image you created by posting on imgur (https://imgur.com/upload). Copy the link of your uploaded image (for example - https://i.imgur.com/abcdefg.jpg) or if you found an image on google that you want to share here, open that image in a new tab and copy that link and paste the URL on the image icon given in your posting toolbox and click OK.Here is an example: Edit: LOL nevermind.. You seem to have figured it out Edited March 20, 2018 by VigMarston91 Yelda and SuperKitsune
TheDon1223
Yes i figured it out in the end, thanks anyway. That's a great shot by the way, I love the scale of it compared to the cowboys. It gives you a sense of how vast the wild west could be. That pic also reminds me of OJO DEL DIABLO from Redemption. Yess, of course! One of my favourite things to do in RDR was wander through the wilderness on my horse at walking pace. Talk about immersion, slowing the gameplay right down like this gave me the chance to enjoy the beautiful vistas as if i was there myself. Will always remember how powerful it was to see the Diablo for the first time doing this. Yelda
Yelda
Nice topic in the general chat, the pictures are untraceable someday.I saved a small collection on my PC some time ago ... I show some of them a bit sorted by motive. You certainly can´t overlook what the three are about. TheDon1223, VigMarston and EVOLUT7ON

I can almost see that being Dutch's gang holding up some cowboys on the outskirts of Cumberland forest. Yelda

Yelda
I see ... it's time for the other side of the law I'm so curious how the law enforcers will work together and hope that they are really challenging. I had already put this picture in the general chat. I just put it in here again. Two lawmen on the trail of a outlaw gang? The four look pretty exhausted ... the cold, the snow, a long ride ... and yet they don´t give up the fight against lawlessnessI personally like it very much TheDon1223 and EVOLUT7ON

TheDon1223
These two are really atmospheric. I hope there are lightning storms like this in RDR2. Imagine having to run indoors for shelter and looking out the saloon window seeing your enemy get closer with every lightning flash. The second one looks like a really tranquil night on the other hand. They look like they're plotting something; maybe heist menus will be in a scene similar to this. Oh yeah, that's exectly what I think ... Imagine standing on a ridge and watching as they follow your trail, but fortunately they haven´t seen you yet. But you can not just gallop away otherwise they would see and hear you ... So how do you escape a whole group of marshals? That would be a real adrenalin kick. and if it's really bad ... then that happens: Edited March 1, 2018 by Yelda EVOLUT7ON and TheDon1223
TheDon1223
Taking this idea a bit further, it would be cool if you could set tracks in the snow in order to lead the lawmen into a trap, leaving them caught by a rope and left hanging upside down. I hope there are a few log cabins we can visit out in the wilderness. And some that we can hopefully purchase and decorate with our hunting trophies. Hey man, I hope you figure it out because id love to see your contribution. I haven't been able to figure it out not going the imgur route yet. Love this one for some reason. I can't put my finger on it. Sort of looks like the dock road in Blackwater. Yelda, Safari, SuperKitsune and 1 other

Yelda
I have some pictures of the relationship between rider and horse.Unfortunately, the beginning of this partnership was quite brutal ... the animals own will were broken very early. So a cowboy on a wild bucking horse isn´t cool ... that was cruelty to animals.Often horses had to work like slaves their whole life long ... with unfitting, heavy saddles and they were maltreated with sharp bits and spurs. Of course there were certainly many good people with a lot of horse sense and who treated their animals well ... but mostly they didn´t have the time to train the animals properly and gently. These days we try to build the trust of the animals through horsemanship and a lot of time ... and with customized equipment. Fortunately, the old methods can only be seen in games or with good stunthorses in movies. Anyway I'm so curious how that relationship will feel in RDRII. I'm looking forward to it. Mr. Morgan
I got my second ever drawing tablet today and naturally I had to make some RDR2 related art to ease my suffering somewhat! Now it's just my hand that's hurting. (Not really sure where to post this since I couldn't find a fanart thread, buuut I also didn't feel comfortable putting it in the "Western themed art" thread since it's meant more for traditional, legit art. Ya know how it is.) SuperKitsune, zachsterosu, LIFER61 and 6 others

Hugoat
For Westernart fans I recommend the work of Alfredo Rodríguez. His paintings are extremely realistic and well detailed.
