If you ever bought a sharkcard what made you want to buy it?

So today some bullsh*t happened with a gun shipment and a guy in a duluxo. I quit the game and didn't lose anything but the immediate reaction of my friend was "f*cking rockstar trying to sell sharkcards"

Now I'm 100% positive that every single person who's ever tried to do any kind of sell mission has experienced some bullsh*t to this effect but does it actually push anyone to buy sharkcards? Apparently sharkcards are the most successful microtransaction of all time so someone has to be buying them, and it can't just be whales if it's selling so much.

Not judging btw I'm just genuinely curious if the difficulty of making money is what drives people to buy sharkcards casually to buy something specific or if it is mostly just people who buy megalodons who don't have to fret about making money at all

Never bought a sharkcard myself but I applaud all that do since it's what keeps this game alive. Salutations to all the awesome shark card buyers out there! You're appreciated :)

Got a 150% offer, bought the $8 million one for $20m total.

Why?

Because Im burned out on this game and Im lazy AF. Plus $100 is nothing.

Willy A. Jeep

When they reintroduced the Sultan RS, then rereleased the Roosevelt AND introduced the Roosevelt Valor. That was enough to make me go "welp, I'll shell out for these digital cars." I did also buy one of the low-value cards during a sale to pick up the Tampa, though in hindsight, I must've just been buying into the hype.

Never have felt comfortable using bought cash for purchases that would put me at an advantage over other players. I'd rather grind for a bunker, hangar, or I/E garage just like everybody else. Just a personal honor thing, y'know.

I have bought two three.

One was back in 2015 when Gamestop had a 50% off sale on them, and then I waited until Rockstar offered a 50%-bonus to redeem the code. After they screwed up the bonus, they gave me a bonus two more times. $50USA = $20,000,000GTA and that was back when a GTA-dollar went further. Compared to what grinding options and glitches were available, it was a timesaver

I also bought a $5 shark card for $2.50 during that same sale to offer as a prize on a contest I had on another site.

More recently bought one (December 2017) when Rockstar was making the Megaladon $20M with the 150%-bonus offer. I found a small discount on the code. I did it this time because I figured I had another year or so and I wanted enough money that I didn't ever have to grind again. I was a bit over $70M. Now I'm a little under that, but I already pocketed $1M+ from the 2x$ Bunker sales, including one batch that generated while I was at work and I ran home on my lunch to "walk my dogs" but delivered and re-supplied.

I buy sharkcards all the time, I don't play any other games so I don't mind paying like 20$ to get new content. i initially bought my first shark card to get an osiris back in the day iirc

I don't judge anyone who buys shark cards as reasons are abvious. In a way shark card buyers and people like me 'cash glitchers' are one and the same. I just glitch and don't spend real money on this game and i always keep an eye out for these glitches.

People who simply want to play this freakin game for what it has to offer and not grind their life away doing lame boring sh*tty missions.

IMO GTA IV was also perfect for that reason. Grab what car you can find and thats it

I wouldn't buy a shark card in this game not now not ever, but i really appreciate ppl that do, that allows me and others to play the game without paying for every dlc.

1st, they are overpriced for what they give.

2nd, they don't give you permanent special items, they just give you cash, and you can get cash just by playing, so to me buying my way out in the game it's stupid, for that i prefer to not play at all or play another game, i mean i keep playing just to make money and be able to buy stuff.. if everything was granted the game would become boring really quickly..

3rd i really enjoy grinding 2 to 4 hours a day, because it's the only game i actually play, so i have the free time and the will to do the grinding in a way that isn't actually grinding.. to me THAT is the actual game, having a virtual life with virtual businesses where i develop my character and from time to time i go and play some races or some adversary mode etc.. but the actual game is on free roam where i farm, chase bounties, and help my crewmates.

Peace.

Sale for 50% off a weekend after I/E 2x$ which by murphy's law work was like "hey not only did we fire someone who you need to cover for... buuuuuuttttt........ the client wants us to have more hours... but LOOK! OVERTIME PAY! OVERTIME PAY! OVERTIME PAY!!!!!!"

4 hours of overtime covered enough for $16 mill. So worth only having 8 hours between shifts to ration between sh*t, shower, shave, sleep, eat and commute.

Oh yes, its cash without spending gaming time on it. Makes you the same as a glitcher, just a real life cash spending one by funding R*, they give you a money drop/bank injection.

Umm, no.

Both groups do not wish to grind.

One keeps Rockstar paying programmers to add more things, the other keeps Rockstar paying programmers to patch exploitable holes instead of adding things

I only bought some during the Executives and Other Criminals era

That update was too fkn good not to splurge on and my GTA wallet had less than 500k in it so the temptation was too real. I started working my first job around that time too so I didn't mind spending a tiny amount of my paycheck on some shark cards. Never bought once since then though as I felt so empty after spending real money just for a fake Mercedes in a virtual game lol

You're just paying to get content quick. It doesn't make you a special snowflake or anything. Also you sound kind of pissed, maybe it will make you feel better to fund them some more by buying some shark cards.

I've bought a few

What made me want to do it? Well, money, obviously. Virtual money! Every now and then I just don't feel like grinding.

i've bought two $20 shark cards in the last two years as a show of appreciation.

i expect nothing for free,..... GTA keeps adding content and i play the hell out of it.

i like grinding sometimes, i can make GTA cash to buy whatever i need, but i don't mind donating some real cash to the company that makes my favorite game

I bought the GTA V + Megalodon bundle for a Chirstmas present to myself when I/E released. The bundle was only $59. There was also a 50% bonus on Megalodon cards at the time. So I ended up with 12 mil for $60 basically. Nothing "made" me buy it, I just wanted to give back to the game that I have enjoyed for so long. Got my 60 car garage too.

Lonely-Martin

Never needed them, game's too easy.

To each their own. I'm not a fan, but appreciate the longevity I had here. Though, I still play many GTA/R* games to this day...

I'd of gotten my money's worth either way

i have bought over 10 during my time playing from last gen....

im not ashamed to admit it either...in other threads shark cards get a bad rap like they are the cause for some of the games problems which is nonsense....and the whole idea that only kids with parents buy shark cards is beyond ridiculous

i estimate buying shark cards have saved me over 48hours in grinding gameplay (grinding gameplay, not fun gameplay) im not about that grinding life

if there is a rebate type deal or discount....ususallly if a new update drops and I need a cash boost, I have never bought a shark card to completely fund an item tho

Glitching is cheaper, cash cards would cut into my kush cash and I'm not having that sh*t.

I bought it because I was broke in the game, despite grinding.

I work hard enough in my real life, that I just wanted to enjoy the game in my leisure time.

Soon after buying it, though, I was gifted money. I'll always consider that a karmic reward for being a good Rockstar boi. :)

Definitely a lot more people buying occasionally than I thought which I know makes sense I just don't really see people talk about it. But a toast to all you beautiful bastards that do but sharkcards and keep the game alive for freeloaders like myself. Except people who spam the explosive sniper, f*ck you

Wonder if the massive circlejerk against shark cards has anything to do with people not wanting to say they bought any!

Wouldn't want to lose any GTAF Street Cred

Yes, $5 card. Bought it as a token of appreciation for them adding the Hunter and Rustler.

It actually is. The asch conformity experiments prove that people will conform to a crowd and pretend to have the same beleifs even if they themselves beleive differently.

A year or so ago i started posting about how these regular updates happen only because of shart cards and either i became the deviant to allow the shart card buyers to be more comfortable in their financial choices and feel less ostricized or i got through to some and opened their eyes. But yeah this site used to attack shart card buyers like a swarm of pirhannas.
