Is it worth buying PS3 if I dislike next-gen GTA Online?

Why go last gen? They are tons of updates behind..

Thats true alright, I got to say one thing about that though, if it wasn't for modders/menu users, last gen wouldn't be that much less fun then current gen. Sure graphics are a bit better, but all new cars are pretty much reskins of old ones and nothing feels new really. Still the same sh*tty handling physics and damage physics/models.

Free online is quite a +

I got GTA V on PC, graphics and 60fps is nice although but it still feels outdated as always. Mods where fun for a short while but even they don't make it feel fresh for long. I find myself playing GTA IV lately as that game just feels a lot better and more fun when it comes to fooling around. If anything GTA V feels like a Mario Kart game with weapons.

Sounds like a terrible idea to downgrade imo. Heres another idea for all of us who are sick of Deluxos and Oppressors and jets:

Shoot them the f*ck down. As soon as you even smell a vague scent of broom pussy coming your way, get into your Akula and destroy them again and again and then kick them from the session.

Im sick and tired of; 1) Deluxos and Oppressors and jets and 2) players complaining about Deluxos Oppressors and jets.

You can do something about it apart from lowering MTU, playing private lobbies or downgrading. Give them hell. And never ever become like them yourself. Never shoot first but make sure to pay back triple if they shoot you first.

Please also understand that I dont mean to start a 5 page long discussion with this post, and I exaggarate a fair amount here. But seriously, us good guys should do what good guys do and rid the world of peasant drones.

OP, let me get this straight: you're going to pay more money to have less content, worse graphics and performance? Sure, that's great idea of course. The only reason to go console from PC if you want public sessions without modders and that's not old gen. Just ignore the new content you don't like and enjoy PC performance, graphics and customization.

If you like free online go for it. However, prepare to be violated and it's not even the good kind of violation :(

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to hear R* say they plan to shut old gen servers down soon

Are the GTA4 servers still up? If so, there's your answer..not shutting down anytime soon.

Arrows to Athens

It is infested with the cancerous sh*tfest that is script kiddies and PvP modders. Sad thing is, last gen is better than current gen's in terms of gameplay, but it's lacking all of the cars that came after Ill Gotten Gains Part II. The only positive thing about that is the fact that it means no weaponized meme vehicles.

Last gen is full of modders, even worse than PC version.

If you buy it you will be regretting in less then 10 minutes.

It would be worth it only for the uncharted trilogy, the resistance trilogy and the last of us, if you want a cheap videogame and dont want to spend on a PS4, but for GTA online alone, hell no, too many modders

It might be pretty boring on last gen GTAO, with no updates coming through on there...... what would you spend your GTA£ on?

All there really is to enjoy is bumping into a modder and seeing what they spawn, for you to play around with.

Yeah i tried playing GTA Online on PS3 and all i get is modders ranking me up to rank 8000 making me go to rockstar support 10000 times, all you get is ULTIMATE sh*t PARKOUR 809823 RP NOT FAKE SUBSCRIBE TO MY YT CHANEL, no one plays contact missions, you can sometimes play races but everyone does P.I.T maneuver so it's not worth it,no more crate drops...

If you have some friends i guess you can find some fun in invite only sessions...

If you buy a ps3 remind everyone how great it was to take a smuggler plane, help Lester turn a blind eye or rob a bank truck.

You either haven't kept a close eye on the updates or aren't a car enthusiast, because there are plenty of cars from recent updates that are by no means reskins of anything.

Also, the physics griping has gotten a bit old. I understand this aspect of the game let some people down (though not me; I prefer V's responsive feel over IV's handling where every car slid like a bar of soap on a wet floor). And everyone is entitled to feel however they feel. But the game is going on five years old, why keep harping on it? There's never going to be a fixed-physics patch for this game, and the next game will likely have a massively revised or brand new engine, so at this point it's just griping for its own sake.

If you are gonna get a ps3. Get GTA IV instead, way more fun. GTA V Last Gen is infested with rapists and fire hydrants blowing you away.

I have not played GTA 5 on PS3, so I can't comment on the current state of GTA Online on that system, but overall it seems illogical to not play current-gen GTA Online to avoid the updates. The cheaters I get, but to avoid all the expensive content (which you don't necessarily need to own) by playing on an old console doesn't quite make sense.

It's for this (age of game) reason I have more time for DDH's NPC strength/bugs. The game has been adding more and more overpowered NPC's that, considering those limits, they did an Ok job for me there.

Oh i am a huge car enthusiast and thats exactly why GTA V's vehicle handling and damage system is disguisting, just not a fan of cars that are made out of solid concrete and feel like a Mario Kart, you can clearly see it is made this way to attract young kids who constantly cry if they crash and their car shows damage and can't handle driving around a damaged car because of getting an autism attack because they can't handle a non-perfect looking car and that freaks them out. Also got to make sure they can magically turn cars in the air as well to make the game feel even more unrealistic.

Any GTA so far from the 3d era has had better looking damage and better vehicle handling then GTA V. This is by far the worst and most childish approach they have had since the top down GTA series and every update adds more childish content. GTA is slowly becoming the new Saints Row.

Every new car released to me no matter how it looks, is just another piece of this to me:

BMW-Z4-brick-version-4.jpg

Only NON dlc cars have slightly better damage going on. Which is why i pretty much only use non-dlc cars in this game.

GTA IV's handling was pretty good if you ask me. The wonky suspension wasn't perfect for sure. The bit more realistic approach made cars feel like they had weight behind them, damage was quite good and doing crazy stunts with them felt awesome if you didn't land upside down. And when you did fail, it was awesome to have done a nice good old crash.

Bikes in GTA IV also felt pretty good. The speed humping was pretty dumb, but that wasn't intended. At least they had decent mass displacement and felt like 'bikes' GTA V bikes feel like Mario Karts, no weight transfer, feels as if they are mounted on 4 wheels and are pretty much the exact opposite of what real bikes are ment to feel like. The one who thought this was ok, must have only seen bikes on photos on the internet and be like 'oh nice bike, two wheels must mean more grip in corners then four'.

IF GTA IV was to be remasterd, i would dump GTA V instantly and play that online again. Without modders, that game was golden online. No sh*tty grinding, cars that where actually fun to fool around with. Demolition derby meets that where awesome instead of just lame because the car crashes have no impact behind them so it feels more like a rubbing fest. Also the friendly fire off lobbies where perfect for having mindless fun.

Please only reply if you've played GTA Online on PS3 or Xbox 360 (last gen) before!
I started playing GTA Online on the day it came out on PC. Quite frankly I enjoyed it; I loved it actually. I managed to get some online buddies and we had
lots of fun together but then more and more dumb-ass updates were added (rockets in car, wtf is that?) and then somehow things got f*cked up...for me at
least.
My problem is, on PC, GTA Online is sh*t. I despise GTA Online on next gen, especially on PC, due to the fact that Rockstar released "too much stuff".
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying too much content is bad but it's the kind of content I can never get fond of. I lost it after the office building
update. Like why the f*ck am I supposed to run around the city and get killed by some chump every minute? I can't stand it anymore, too much useless crap
to do and on top of that there are too tremendous amount of modders/cheaters and retards. Not to mention the overly expensive shark cards. Oh and the
grinding part. In GTA Online you gotta grind for money and rp more than in some MMO's or just buy a couple of shark cards for a few hundred bucks and
you're all good.
I'm really thinking about buying a PS3 (no, not PS4 because I wanna play previous generation in order to avoid dumb-ass updates in future - coz I heard
Rockstar has already stalled releasing updates on last gen). Should buy a PS3 just because of this? What do you think? Is previous gen GTA Online still
good in 2018?

If you actually want to be playing deathmatches, then sure, the PS3 version (or any console I would imagine) is the way to go. No one plays sh*t on PC.

But yeah, modders are just as bad as on the PC.

Also, I agree on the damage modelling. It almost feels like every single DLC car has no deformation whatsoever. I mean, look at the Panto for example. What the heck?

It sounds illogical yeah but my main goal was to try and enjoy GTA Online because I couldn't enjoy it on next gen anymore, and as for the graphics I really don't mind that. Also I did not know there were more cheaters on last gen when I made this thread, lol. I actually thought the opposite.

Rashkovskys Shiv

I bought Gta day one on Ps3 and played it till I transferred last March.

I went back couple of months back and it's still bad.

Modders in most lobbies

Graphics are bad compared to Ps4

But less crap to worry about,no new businesses to buy, no calls, the lobbies are still full.

If you're gonna buy a PS3 so you can play last-gen GTA V and get away from everything that makes current gen better, do yourself a favor and just quit video gaming, sell all your stuff, and do something that actually makes sense.

The headshot recognition on PS3 was far better... Adding new guns obviously forced R* to nerf some guns. Most the pistols are useless now. I loved popping people at close to medium range with the Combat Pistol which unfortunately just isn't an option now.

Also the game chat is a lot more active on the PS3 but that could be a good or bad thing. I miss trolling random folk on it.

And modders on the PS3 were funny mostly back in the day but I hear they're clearing peoples rank often so don't play it on an account you plan on transferring over with.

Some modders were funny... Most were actually shady AF

GTA IV on its own is indeed more of a blast as its simply a way better developed game. However its online is just as as GTA V's online, almost every lobby has a mod menu user or two in it.

It comes down to making a choice between all these new-fangled rocket cars/bikes or ass rape.

I went with the rocket cars.

Just my 2 cents.

I would have to say no, as old gen does not have the glorious Hunter.

This pretty much sums it up.
