Is it worth buying PS3 if I dislike next-gen GTA Online?

I started playing GTA Online on the day it came out on PC. Quite frankly I enjoyed it; I loved it actually. I managed to get some online buddies and we had

lots of fun together but then more and more dumb-ass updates were added (rockets in car, wtf is that?) and then somehow things got f*cked up...for me at

least.

My problem is, on PC, GTA Online is sh*t. I despise GTA Online on next gen, especially on PC, due to the fact that Rockstar released "too much stuff".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying too much content is bad but it's the kind of content I can never get fond of. I lost it after the office building

update. Like why the f*ck am I supposed to run around the city and get killed by some chump every minute? I can't stand it anymore, too much useless crap

to do and on top of that there are too tremendous amount of modders/cheaters and retards. Not to mention the overly expensive shark cards. Oh and the

grinding part. In GTA Online you gotta grind for money and rp more than in some MMO's or just buy a couple of shark cards for a few hundred bucks and

you're all good.

I'm really thinking about buying a PS3 (no, not PS4 because I wanna play previous generation in order to avoid dumb-ass updates in future - coz I heard

Rockstar has already stalled releasing updates on last gen). Should buy a PS3 just because of this? What do you think? Is previous gen GTA Online still

good in 2018?

I was on PS3 for 3 months back in 2016 and going back wouldn't make any sense to me. So little content when compared to PS4. Not to mention the modders. Graphics look so primitive, too.

Same situation here - started GTA:O on PC and bought a PS3 to unlock the "returning player stuff" for myself and a couple of millinons friends. Never enjoyed playing on the oldgen console, tbh. While gfx and gameplay is fine, it's a cheaterfest never thought it could be. Once I said, PC is toxic with cheaterrs - I laugh remembering the PS3 unlock runs. So a big no from my side. Just ignore the new stuff and play as you like - but stay on nextgen/PC. Oldgen is given up from R*side - there's nothing that can be enjoyed anymore.

IMO it is just a waste of money to buy a ps3 at this point unless you enjoy retro gaming and $5 games.

 

Since you likely won't find any non modding players left on ps3 you will find yourself alone in invite lobbies anyways...why not just play in invite lobbies on ps4 instead. You would also retain the option of access to an active player pool for times you do feel like doing missions,races etc....

 

Or find a new game....

Frankly? Not even remotely if that is your sole reason. You'd be better off buying one to play IV/RDR/MC/MP3 ect.

From everything I've heard, last gen is just a hellscape now. Basically untended by Rockstar and those consoles are cracked so people are doing all kinds of crazy sh*t. I'd steer clear. If you hate current gen, it might be time to just retire.

I was a day one player on PS3 myself. Made it nearly 2 years before the modders/hackers over there ruined my account, giving me money and what-not. I was pissed and swore off the game.

 

Read that PS4 was free of all that, I mean, I couldn't care less what people do to their accounts, but that's our choice, you know?. To each their own, but I started a fresh account on PS3, got 3 of my best heist buddies, ran CMM and Pac Standard a good few times, and hit some 2-4 player awards, namely rallies, lol. Moved to PS4 with $8m and never looked back.

 

Cheaters and people exploiting, all over the place, lol. Real arseholes that wanna mess peoples games up all over the game too. But none of it really affects my account, so I may die a few times, or lose a few bucks. Most of my money comes from PvE stuff as it is. I'd sooner things be more competitive in public, but it's all 'take it, or leave it' for me.

 

PC and old gen are as bad as each other, IMO. Ok, PC looks far better, and the story modders can have their fun too. But its current gen console for me.

PS3's are completely open (like a pc) so you can run whatever code and menus on them you like. If you want to play without modders well just get a PS4.. easy done

tbh, there are rumors that PC is as polluted as oldgen - totally wrong (fake news). The truth is (and I can say that because I play 4 accounts on PC and a couple once on PS3 here and there). It needs - at least - a couple of skills on PC to cheat the game and use a modmenu while on PS3 its just - own a console and an USB stick, run software and feel like god. That beeing said, even the dumbest ones can cheat on PS3 (which you can buy for less than a full fuel-tank). Oldgen is hell, PC is infected and everyone who says its the same just has no clue and only repeats common ignorance. I don't say PC is as save as Xone/PS4 - of course not, but you can't compare oldgen aka PS3/Xbox360 with PC. That'll be a milkmaid-bill or simply parroting of hearsay.

Good explanation Yeah, since I've never in my life owned a console I didn't know if cheating in games was a thing there. So I'll just avoid playing GTA Online then. I really hate what Rockstar did to it.

^^ no need to avoid a good game. You said you play on PC and PS3 - same as me. Look for a crew or friends on PC and enjoy everything the game offers - even freeroam isn't that bad. Once you read/hear /see/meet a cheater. just switch the lobby. See, I play on PC once the game got released - I've met hundreds of cheaters, <10% are real idiots. You won't/rarely meet them in heists/missions/whatever, they're mostly lurking/hanging arround in freeroam. On PS3 it's a different story. I use my headset there always and 2of3 sessions there's a guy! [sic] who once got killed or dislikes something kicks everyone out of the session, even freezes your PS3. Serious, PC is far better than oldgen these days. Enjoy the game there^^

Don't do it - it's not worth the money. At all.

 

I was stuck on PS3 up to Christmas 2016, and I experienced a lot of weird things. I think the one that stuck in my memory the most is one time when I ran into a very extreme modder. He basically teleported me into his Adder... and then it started flying. It was a predecessor of the Deluxo I guess lol, but a lot more buggy. Oh yeah, and it was constantly changing colour. The dude started dropping money bags on me and gave me something like $20mil. At the time I was relatively new to GTA and didn't really understand that it was wrong, so I blew all the money almost instantly on pointless things like the Swift Deluxe lol. Then the hacker started putting random props on top of me, like a UFO, portaloo etc etc. I was stuck like that for ages until eventually I figured out all I needed to do was leave the lobby.

Another common occurrence on PS3 was being constantly blown up in your garage. You weren't safe, anywhere - it's like a more extreme orbital cannon lol.

 

But that was 2015-ish, and even then it was full of modders. I dread to think what PS3 is like now lol

Last Gen is a cheater's heaven. God moders. Money drops. Session nukes where everyone dies. I was done with last gen when an invisible dude that had nothing but a head and 2 arms permanently off the radar ran up on me with infinite homing rockets. There's nothing to do back there except heists, and since last gen is dead now, you're probably only going to run into little immature squeaker kids most of the time.
