First time I saw this building on Chiliad

Im guessing most of you probably already knew this but I couldn't find anything on the forums about it so I'll post it anyway. I never knew they added this prop from the doomsday finale on Chiliad. Randomly came across it while doing some Hangar work.

Yeah I know, I just never came across it since the Doomsday heist was released so I was surprised to see it added in freemode.

Nope, just like the bunker entrances and facilities' doors. It's only here during freeroam.

 

If you play a Contact mission or singleplayer, you will see the map without bunkers, facilities, and without that silo opening.

FWIW, I didn't realize that all the bunker and facility models were permanently added to GTA Online's map, regardless of session type (public, solo, invite-only, etc.)

 

I had incorrectly assumed that they only spawned in if a player that owned them spawned into the session.

 

(Yeah, I'm slow to catch on to some stuff. lol)

^ I would definitely prefer it that was the case. It's not like it's impossible, we're seeing it with yachts.

Hadn't even thought of that! I understand the rationale behind it, but I admittedly don't like the continuity differences (which serves as a reminder that, "Oh yeah, I'm in a slightly different world").

 

IMO the map should always be the same in free roam and contact missions, heists, etc.--minus mobile things like yachts, whose "convenient" absence is easily plausible.

 

Anyway, it's nice to know that R* isn't opposed to adding new things to the existing map--I hope they do a lot more of it in the near future, as well as fixing broken map elements (nav tracks, broken ladders/geometry, heli pads that you can't call a Merryweather pickup from, etc.).
