Possible Graphics Issue due to mod

Recommended Posts

terrannce

For some reason,

the graphics on my SA seem a little blotchy, and I have never seen it before, even on the same computer, with the same operating system.

However, It seems no one else see's it, and I've been told it may be because I have mods installed, but all I really have is cleo, and a slight modification I made to american, gxt.

Anyways, here's, and example, look at WuZi's shirt:

Does anyone here know what may be causing it?

In case you're wondering, Lil Weasle told me to try the modding forums.

Isn't that how vanilla Wuzimu looks??? It's not any mod that's causing that, it's how the vanilla texture looks.

I think what you are seeing is the effect of 'light' on certain textures that don't always render smoothly. Attributing the technical cause is beyond my knowledge, as graphics rendering is an enormous topic unto itself, but I think I know what you mean. I notice it a lot in the country where there is a lot of green, during thunderstorms. There may be a solution to it, but I don't know what it is. Stronger hardware may help, but maybe not. It may just be a limitation inherent in that generation of rendering, and it wouldn't be the only one; alpha issues for example.

I suspect you would notice it even more on the 16 bit display setting where the colors naturally look ghastly. I myself notice it where it attempts shading on darker colors. It seems to be a darkness issue. There are places around the game with light issues that are more-or-less unavoidable.

Anyways, if you mean that conflict on black where red seems to be fighting green for a smooth fade, then I think I see what you mean. Sorry I can't be more helpful, just affirming that you aren't imagining it.

The red and green are literally in the texture... It doesn't display wrong, it's how it looks by default and it probably looks better on the PS2.

Probably too, but this blotchyness can be seen in a whole lot of different places, not just Wuzi's shirt. and it looks worse in person, with the real resolution I am running (1920x1280) I think it is.

Here's another photo, maybe you will be able to see it better in the clouds:

He is talking about that kind of 'artifacts' that you can see on the clouds, I remember had that kind of stuff back in 2009 and if I remember correctly is unfixable. So doesn't seems to be any mod but your graphic card maybe. What are you specs?

Yeah, Lil Weasle suggested to try the mod forums, though I couldn't see why, either.

Anyways,

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)

on a Mid 2011 Mac Mini

2.4ghz i5

4GB RAM

AMD Radeon 6630M

I think my computer is more than power enough for my version of san adreas, being that I have 1.0 and did in fact at one point in time have the hot coffee mod installed.

So, it is unfixable eh? Not surprising I tried uninstall/reinstall multiple times, my reoslution is in 32 bit, and all that, but it persists.

I wonder what causes it though? I've had SA version 1.0, installed numerous times before on the same computer, and am only having this issue now.

Looks Like the Clouds Textures dosen,t suport the resolution (Like Trying to grow up the image and making the Clouds in Low Quality), Try Adjustig your monitor colors or in game Adjust the Brightness of the game or maybe try set a lowed resolution

That's how the clouds look as defined in timecyc.dat and is also completely normal 😅

You could however change that slightly with in-game timecyc editor if you don't like it.

Edit: Using skygfx with the PS2 settings might improve visuals for the PC version at least enough to make it a bit less ugly however you'll still see this happen.

I'm starting to believe you, I mean, I see the same things in people's videos, screen shots, and on my other computer as well.

Weird thing is, why didn't I see it before? For literally years?

You're too worried about the issue that you noticed them everywhere now.

Check your resolution and see if you are using the 16bit one, if you are then switch it to the 32bit one.
