It's been over 4 years we've invested into playing this game, and certainly we all have our own playing styles whether they be popular or not.

For me, I jet grief among other things (now i call freeroam terrorism for the most part). Is it possible that one day I just become tired of flying around and decide to only equip explosive rounds and down every Jet and Helicopter I see whether they are friendly or not? Don't see it happening because I consider them too expensive. Your turn...

(i hope this doesnt get locked)

I wouldn't go full-blown griefer. But if I had more skill on PvP combat and being griefed wouldn't worry me so much, I'd definitely turn off Passive Mode permanently and fend off anyone who dares oppose me.

One day i might try to understand the mentality of tryhards by becoming one.. hope that day never comes

p.s. i'm still very much content with just driving around town in my pretty car, buying clothes, playing golf and tennis and enjoying the view.. And also being in passive mode watching people slaughtering one another

My recent evil habit has been sniping people from the top of my office with the explosive heavy sniper, which started as practice for shooting down jets and blowing up tryhards at extreme range but has now devolved into a tendency to try to blow up everyone in sight until I run out of ammunition... this got even worse when I discovered how to refill special ammo for free, and when I realized there is just barely enough space to land the Avenger with a weapon shop on top of my office so I don't even need to leave the roof.

Granted, I still don't destroy people trying to do business deliveries, and I don't actively spawn kill people not trying to kill me or chase down people outside my line of sight when doing this, but the same doesn't extend to anyone I see going to the LSC in the center of the city, the entrance to which is perfectly visible from the roof of my office building...

The last gen version of me two years ago would never have done this sort of thing, but whether that is due to not having the will to, not having the means to do so, or still having some amount of respect for the game is open to debate.

As with any game that runs long enough for players to evolve, the answer is yes.

In fact up until about 6 months ago I avoided PvP at all costs. Now if I'm bored I pick fights and troll lobbies. It all depends on my mood.

Willy A. Jeep

If I were to totally, utterly swap my activities and actions and habits in GTA, I would...

  • Sell/destroy all of my vehicles
  • Swap all of my properties out for two-car garages
  • Dress in the most tacky, eyesore clothing
  • Buy a Hydra or Lazer
  • Do nothing but grief
  • Git gud

And I don't see... any of that happening, ever. The only way I'd even consider selling any large number of vehicles would be the complete end of Online, with no prospects of having those assets usable in the future. One last money-spending spree before the sun sets one final time upon this iteration of Los Santos. Probably keep the ol' Albany Emperor and drive it off the end of Del Perro pier into the Pacific before logging off for good. Grim and dramatic! As it should be.

I flip defending to starting sh*t so often throughout play, anything to try and keep the game feeling fresh.

mmm i can easily see my going from full on pvp griefer to being one of those that are in passive all the time, if they ever release a cloaking device.

you dont choose to become a tryhard... you just become one and when you realize its too late to go back hahaha

Yellow Dog with Cone

Something something die hero, something something live villain.

I duped once and eventually I found myself using tryhard tactics like spamming EWO and BST.

I have been stayed away from such glitches since then and the only times I engage in PvP is to defend my crewmates from griefers.

I swore to never meddle with people doing businesses, but I find myself stealing vehicle and frieght cargo on a weekly basis. Just fun stealing stuff. Blowing sh*t up is no fun.... unless it's a guy who crossed you first and you get revenge by blowing up an entire fleet of export vehicles!

f*ckt up individuals, so you can't actually become one.. you can test it but you wouldn't be able to sustain it.. you need to have true mental issues to become one 100%. And you don't become one.. you just are one..

I play GTAO for racing only, I don't think I could see myself playing otherwise mostly because I suck at everything besides racing.

I won't change tbh. The day I stop playing random heists/missons - helping friends with their stuff or do / enjoy lonewolfing on my own is simply the day I stop playing the game. Can't see that happen in the near future. I'll never convert to a griefer/tryhard which will be the only opposite of how I play.

You're right. Tried it last night and after a couple of kills(including the classic sticky bomb suicide trick) i just couldn't do it.. so much work for an imaginary k/d number and it makes me sad to kill someone who hasn't done anything to me at all

Wastelander (Suzuki)

I went from a almost completely passive PVE player to a up and coming hunter of Tryhards, if there busy dealing with me, that's another sale for a MC/CEO/VIP without a hitch.

Become quite good at it too, just look at some of my hatemail posts in Best and Worse Messages thread.

Tried it, didn't like it (short answer).

I'm a passive, non hostile player for the most part. I only fire when fired upon, this is how it's been since October 2013. I got bored with GTA Online, thought I'd switch it up and be an ass. It wasn't for me. I found no satisfaction in destroying players who didn't want to fight.

If a player wants to be an ass I'll happily fight back though (this includes vote kicks, picking on others, destruction of cargo for no reason or starting any PvP based freeroam job such as Exec Search).

Two rockets and 2000$. What have i become?

Every day we stray further from god.

No, I cannot bring myself to being a dick to other players making some honest cash in this piece of sh*t game with an even sh*ttier economy.

Maybe in an alternate universe where everything in the game is affordable, but not this one.

Man, I could even quote Thatcher, lol...

This man's not for turning!.

Genuinely though, I'll never stoop that low, too much fun to be had getting on with folk, not pissing in their cereal just for kicks. It's child's play.

I did become the complete opposite.

There was a time when I used to grind. I thought glitching was for people who aren't good enough at the game to play legitimately. Resorting to cheap tactics like duping cars and SP2MP "buy anything for free" glitches would take away any fun of the grind.

Then I realised that it was the grind itself that took away the fun of the grind.

There was so much of GTA I was completely ignoring because I was too busy grinding... but the first time Rockstar edited my bank balance without provocation, I realised that I was playing fair in an unfair environment. So I started duping cars... the blessed Elegy Retro Custom. Then last year the SP2MP glitch let me fill every single garage with Oppressors. Then the buy-anything-for-free glitch let me fill my garages with Vigilantes by taking a taxi ride.

I rarely think about the player I once was. I honestly can't see how I used to enjoy soulless grinding so much. That's not to knock people who do grind and play legitimately, I admire your strong resolve.
