Journey_95
Its no doubt overall a good game but after my most recent playthrough I noticed why it missed some of the classic GTA feeling for me. Rockstar focused too much on the FIB and Merryweather bs. Now basically every GTA game has you doing some missions for corrupt government officials but its always secondary and not the focus. There is always more than enough focus on real criminal organizations like the mob, different gangs etc. Even in GTA SA the Mike Toreno sh*t, as silly as it was only went on for one part of the story. The rest was all focused on typical crime stuff. In V though it takes over the whole story. The three MC's are the FIB's bitches for most of the game and it just becomes tedious (at first I didn't mind it but later on I was sick of it). Its just an excuse to have over the top missions. You even end up doing most of the heists for them so they don't feel satisfying at all (and the whole "pursuit of the almighty dollar theme ended up being a joke). Then as a secondary group we have Merryweather and thats not very GTA esque either with the paramilitary sh*t and more like taken straight from Max Payne 3. Madrazzo who had a lot of potential is completely wasted and we don't get any real Cartel focus (big missed opportunity). The rest of the gangs don't have big roles either (the Lost are just fodder, Ballas are there for a few missions at best, Triads are used as a plot device etc.). Side content wise there are almost no real crime activities. Jack Lupino
I had the same feeling when i played gta IV.I thought it was a boring game. Couldn't get into it. Its the only gta i have never attempted to complete 100%. It lacked the classic feeling of previous gtas. If you want to talk about that make your own in the GTA IV section. Algonquin Assassin

jaljax
It felt the same way when i played through GTA V It lack's a lot of key features from past game's in the series & not to mention the story line feels like it's been ripped out of a Micheal Bay film Algonquin Assassin and Sonny_Black
CT1612
I guess it was intended as online already in developement, the single player is actually neglected. Last "real" GTA was San Andreas. GTA IV is not a bad game, but it has a very serious and realistic tone, maybe it could have got better reception if it had been released outside the GTA-line as "own" game.
