Does anyone know why were old events removed from the game?

Good question, OP.

It's a shame I never got to try them myself, unfortunately. I joined the game way too late and they had already been disabled/removed months before. Besides thinking they made more sense in the world that Rockstar built and wanting the associated awards, they just seemed more fun in general.

I'd imagine that Special Crate drops with rare shirts and beer hats as rewards on public lobbies would make for such an exhilarating and bittersweet challenge. I sometimes hear such great stories from people who got to experience these that I can't help but yearn for that kind of experience for myself. At least, for once, something in the game would reward actual items for one's cunning and abilities instead of more money.

They really need to return.
