[GTAO] In 2018, How Much Time Are You Playing?

Going on my 3rd year and I still play every day of the week. Too much time on the weekends.

GTA is one of a handful of games I really play. I try others but get bored quick. I just enjoy being able to but what I want when I want. No other game gives the variety of this one.

Are there parts I don’t like? Of course. Rather than piss and moan I just play.

I meant you rarely see the exact same building model used in multiple locations.

So almost every game that has open World from 2006 onwards? That's not really something that's impressive by today's standards.

I don't know how you came to the conclusion that IV's map is better, when GTA V has a more detailed (albeit smaller) city and a massive and diverse rural area.

Bigger map yes, but it's really not more detailed. The only thing it does particularly better than IV is the roads, I'm sure there's a technical term for this but V's roads are more realistic with little bumps and humps, whereas IV roads are flat.

Most of the map in GTA V is uninteresting, boring and lacking any detail but the map in IV is used exceedingly better and fun to explore. It's odd that you say it's full of detail when one of the major complaints about the game on this forum is the map.

The map itself is also fairly small, you are disillusioned into thinking it's bigger than it is because of the fog/smog and the awful car speed, a similar technique used in San Andreas on the PS2.

And obviously it's not as big as LA, technical limitations are a thing. Again not sure how you came to the conclusion that it's empty- gameplay wise, yes, but detail wise, no. Keep in mind the Online map is less populated than SP, and there's no animals.

Technical limitations have nothing to do with the size of the map, the only thing a bigger map means is more disk-space, they could map out the entire World if they wanted too.

I'm not entirely sure by what you consider a detail, because for me, this map is severely lacking in them.

The Division and Watch Dogs have good cities but I'm not seeing how it's any better than GTAs. You might have a point with The Witcher 3 though, I'll give you that (edit: I take that back, I just booted up GTA again and the city is so much more bigger and detailed than that of The Witcher's, even accounting for the time period difference) The GTA V map is still by no means obsolete.

If you can't see why/how the maps are better in those games, then I seriously don't know what to say. Ubisoft make some fantastic and highly detailed maps, it's just s shame their games usually suck.

Considering you just said that the Witcher 3's map is worse than GTA V's, I'm going to put this down to fanboyism, I am on GTAForums after-all.

I just don't understand why you think it lacks detail? Every alley is detailed, every single building, every landmark, every roof, the farms, the theatres, the 4 airfields, all the Vinewood mansions, the ghetto, the canyon, the prison, the tunnels, the carparks, the windfarm, Humane Labs, Kortz Center, Chumash, Paleto and Sandy Shores. All these areas are uniquely modelled. Even the geographical features and underwater is accurate. That's not even a full summary of what the map has to offer.

And -almost- everything's fully detailed, there's vents, power boxes, ladders, ducts, fire escapes and signage, and that's just what you'd see on a regular city building. Name a game from 2006 with this much detail. Also The Witcher has nowhere near as diverse environments (desert, forest and urban, and everything inbetween)

Anyway, it's funny you think I'm a fan-boy when I criticised R* in my initial post. Not to mention this whole forum is very open in their criticism of GTA Online. There's plenty of fanboying for The Witcher to go around, however.

(this has gone way too off-topic, sorry mods)

Right now I'm not playing at all. Pick your error message, I'm having them all. (Catalogue error / cannot retrieve / inventory data error, etc).

I still play day to day, it's been less the past few days. I've been playing ac origins and babysitting in between.

I've said in various 2017 topics how I was losing interest in the game and dismayed at how militaristic things have become. By 2018, the chickens have come home to roost.

These days I can't be arsed to play GTA without being in a party chat or having at least one friend on to hang with. I just don't care as much as I used to. Between IRL changes and shifting priorities to simply finding other entertainment mediums more appealing, GTA on it's own isn't the draw it used to be. I can still get on solo dolo and have fun but the desire to do so is fewer and farther between.

I'd say in a two week period, I'd play once or twice for an hour or two. I don't dislike the game; the mechanics are fine and the jack-of-all-trades gameplay is always nice to come back to. I'm still a fan of the series overall. But I just get the feeling that I've been there and done that. I've seen what there is to see.

Not much of a cowboy, so I'm hoping GTA VI comes sooner than later.

I play less in general. Since I bought GTsport my attention to cars and racing shifted. But I would still play GTA 12 hours a day if there is a glitch that I am interested in.

ugh. I recently dove into my router to correct the NAT settings that kept me from enjoying a decent session for more than 8 minutes.

It's a lot better now, with Open settings, but i still continue to get the "Connection lost due to unknown network error," something I've had since day one.

I hope it resolves for you, soon!

Beautiful weather? You a southerner by any chance? It's grim up North Lol.

Just about the only time I'm outside and not wishing I was indoors is when I'm on a bike.

It varied a lot. Sometimes it would be less than 2 hours a day, and others was 4-6+ hours a day. Now it's less than 1 hour a month if I even login that month. My longest single game session was 15 hours 33 minutes, and I have 3,296 hours on my PC Online character.
