[GTAO] In 2018, How Much Time Are You Playing?

Recommended Posts

Probably two hours per session when I do bother to get on, which can vary from every day to every other day or sometimes every other two days

It all depends on my mood really

I spent most of the day thinking about the game so when I got home, I could jump back in, foregoing my family, bills, household stuff, etc. I was all-in for GTAV/O back then.

I would have got sacked if my boss had known how much time I dedicated to GTAO when I was meant to be working. The joys of being an up-to-date software developer whilst working with old fossils have never been as fruitful as those days. They had zero understanding of how I did what I did, so as long as it got done they never disturbed me. I was getting paid to spend all day between this forum and youtube.

has it changed for you? Do you still play as fervently as you did when you began? Were there reasons for any change?

It's been long enough for me to feel comfortable saying I've run out of new things to do. You know my main passion in GTAO and it's just not the same when there's no new places to smash my bike into repeatedly, until I get that one-in-a-million lucky bump and find myself soaring through the sky, upside-down with a smile on my face.

What would it take to bring you back to playing on the scale of how you did when you first started, if anything?

As per my previous answer, a map expansion, and I don't mean adding something to it. I mean airport access to another city that's as big, if not bigger, than LS. I'd be back on there like it was brand new, if there were new barriers and railings that I could be using to land atop new buildings.

Seriously, I'm almost done with it these days. It literally is "map expansion or GTFO".

Furry_Monkey, it's good to see your reply! I feel exactly the same way as you, even down to the "would've gotten sacked" part! LOL!

Hard to believe five years passed by so quickly! But you're 100% on with the idea of a fully realized expansion map.

Being over 50, I feel totally geriatric whenever I log on. The game feels as old as I am! And no matter how many new, brightly colored things they throw into the sandbox, it's still the same sandbox with the same walls holding it all in.

I admit, the Oppressor has definitely made the game more exploratory for a motorcycle enthusiast, but I recently spent an entire session just tooling around on my old BF400 and had a great old time.

Let's hope that if they do something big, it's within the idea of what we're imagining. Otherwise, a new rocket powered Faggio just ain't gonna cut it for long.

Thanks for chiming in, ape. Always good! :)

I play daily if I'm at home. My wife is talking to her mom on the Hangouts (living at different countries) at the same time and we're just chilling together with jazz on the background. When she's visiting her parents, the only differences are that we're speaking on the Telegram and I'm listening to whatever the hell I want (Wagner and Stravinsky mostly). So yeah, I'm kind of GTA addicted, but it's not affecting my life in a negative way, I think.

Aggregate Demand

I usually spend two or three nights a week playing GTAO, at roughly two hours per session. Also, I'll do an all day passive grind on the weekends when there's a new DLC coming out.

The better half tries to tempt me away from the game as much as possible so we can go out for dinner and go shopping, amongst other things.

I'm surprised I still play it as much as I do. I've certainly got my money's worth, that's for sure.

The amount of time I spend on GTA comes in waves.

At release: Easily 6-8 hours a day. Grinding away with races and contact missions

When I discovered glitches: Probably half that time ...3-4 hours daily. I could make $1mil per minute from duping cars and there were no sell-limits, so I came on for fun rather than for the grind.

Between the time I started glitching (early 2014) to early-2015: The hours trickled down to an hour or two every day, then an hour or two a week... then when I could be bothered or when a friend came on.

When heists came out: Long sessions doing heists because I'd been looking forward to them for ages. It wasn't daily, but when I played, I played long hours.

When Fallout 4 came out: Barely ever. I loved Fallout 4 for a long time... despite how buggy it was.

When CEO offices came to the game: Back in full force to make the most of the new content. Plenty of new opportunities to make cash and I was excited. Same thing happened though... made money both legitimately and illegitimately, got bored, moved onto other games.

From the start of 2017 to mid-2017: Never. Moved out... Job, house, partner, obligations.

When everything went downhill: Heavily invested my time back into GTA. Compensating for life with as much gaming as I could handle.

Now that life has settled back down and GTA seems to keep churning out more of the same with different packaging (just my opinion): Still 1-2 hours a day, most days. More on weekends - but I no longer go on for the explicit purpose of doing one particular thing. Some days I just drive around for a few hours and that's all. I love a good first person drive in my Surfer.

TL;DR: Not as much as when it came out, had a bit of a love-hate relationship with GTA, but still play it regularly, and I still enjoy it to some degree, but it's no longer about the grind, I enjoy just going on a frolic of my own

The new heists have properly re-rejuvenated GTA O for me. Haven't played this much since 2015.

My GTAO playtime has always been fairly spiky, I'll play multi-hour sessions for a week, then play maybe 2 hours total the next week, then maybe somewhere in between. It fluctuates with my mood and irl commitments and other games. Sprinkle in the odd multi-month break.

Even major DLC doesn't bring me back if I'm not feeling it, I sat out the release of Heists and Gunrunning. I swore off making myself obligated to game back in World of Warcraft's heyday...

Day one online player and like the OP spent every spare moment outside of work and family duties playing.

These days maybe 2 to 4 hours a week and normally just to buy the latest drip fed vehicle etc.

Considering I havent spent anymore than the original costs of the game it has been really fantastic

I go between not playing as much as I'd like and playing more than I should.

Work pretty much dictates my game time. If things are quiet I play more than I should, especially when I'm working from home. Sometimes if I'm trying to escape the wife I'll needlessly go into the office and play on the ps4 there for a few hours.

When work is busy I'm lucky if I play 2 or 3 hours over a week. If I get sent abroad somewhere with sh*t internet I might not play at all for weeks at a time.

I still always try and be free on the Tuesday a new DLC releases though. No matter where I am or what I'm supposed to be doing. No matter how burned out on the game I feel or how much I've b*tched about it, I still get excited.

I got the game on 2103 no online...

Mid-2014 I started to play online I probably played for 6 hours a weekday everyday longer on weekends

2015 is when I played the most and when I switched from legit to getting my hands on some mod tools for ps3 made different accounts

2016 is when I started to loose interest still played but I had other games on my mind...

2017 I don't remember I stopped playing off and on by the second half I lost the will to play...

2018 I only logged on once but I strangely looking forward to jump back in, maybe it's just an old feeling but I always second guess myself.

I do believe a new map a whole new city will bring me 100% back in waiting on r* :(

I'm a victim of my own greed, and it's strange it hasn't been mentioned on this thread.

I'm a store owned September 2013 GTA V owner and have always ground out the game, but sometime in 2016 I got badly ribbed on this forum for not wanting to spend money on Benny's upgrade costs on a Sultan RS, and after the release of the Grotti X80 Proto at 2.8 million + upgrades, it finally pushed me over the edge. So I got into glitching through a group of friends, and ultimately I've paid the price for my greed. I now own absolutely everything + xxx millions in the bank, so there's no need to grind and I've only done the new heists in order to get the trophies in the facility, and that's it. I have no intention of grinding the heists again, and that's the penalty I've paid for being so greedy.

The other issue is being restricted to a relatively small island, and the feeling of rattling around inside a tin can. All these aircraft and amazing vehicles that are hopelessly landlocked, it's a feeling that I can't shake off. Rockstar releasing more and more crazy vehicles that can't actually go anywhere, and digging more and more holes in the ground to compensate for not expanding.

I play only gtao...and when I do I try to keep it as realistic as possible but with humor. Such as rotating vip/bunker/public missions with only guns and assault rifles. True gta.

I play when I can, I have teo full time jobs: Restaurant/girlfriend. So little time daily but when I do play I can play at least 6 hours in a row...

I've been there since day one. I did many things, got killed by my own clone, fought a guy on a cargo plane, etc. This game is still pretty fun to me when playing with friends, so I'm considering joining a pretty relax crew to meet new peoples to speak and play with.

I'd say I play a few days a month when alone.

Its winter so currently my play time has increased. Once we hit spring and summer my time with the game is reduced substantially, usually only getting on for an update or to try a new feature / car.

Right now money is a none issue and I own everything I want / need to be competitive. Despite my love of cars (real life) Im not an insane collector of them in game so it takes more than that to bring me back from a lull in play time. Even now, in the dead of winter, Im usually only on for a couple of hours every couple of days and I just choose the random option from the quick job app.

In order to get me back as a daily player that obsesses about the game at work theyd need a map expansion and to do away with the free dlc. Unpopular opinion I know but Rockstar spends more time attacking money glitches than fixing the broken parts of the game. Just last night I landed in two death matches back to back with players using god mode exploits (PS4) that have been in the game for a long while. Its stuff like this that has been neglected that makes playing a chore at times and when I think about signing on I think about that sh*t and then turn it off and so something else. If they just sucked it up and charged for DLC than maybe theyd focus their energy fixing bugs and not fighting the player base by reducing payouts, adding cool down timers and coming up with random restrictions for making money.

None :p My gaming PC died on December 31st and I've been too low on funds / busy with work to get it running. Maybe in another month or so. I don't feel like I've missed much.

I play much more now than in the initial couple years. Early on it was an average of about an hour and a half daily. Now it’s probably around 3.

Nothing in the last couple of weeks.

Going to finish the DDH then I'll probably uninstall the game. After 4 years it just doesn't hold any interest for me anymore

I logged into GTA Online for the first time since late 2016 last week. I'll probably continue to play 5-6 hours a week and enjoy all the DLC stuff I missed out on whilst I took my leave of absence. Then I'll probably get bored again in a month or two.

I started playing online in very early January 2014 but only played casually maybe a few times a week for about a year or so. Then I started to get really into it and would play every day grinding for a couple of hours or so. These days I play a fair bit less than I did in my peak period in say 2015 to 2016 but still a decent amount. Maybe about 5 days a week currently from anywhere from about 45 minutes to two and a half hours or so at a time.

I loved the game when I started in late 2014, and I still love it today. The only change is I barely get to play it now :(

Originally though I had the game on release day, and I played only the SP as I was busy with other games at the time. So yes, I did ignore GTA:O for an entire year, and I personally hate that decision.

EDIT: Here's a list, I was too lazy at first, but whatever lol

2013 ~ Never played GTA:O, stuck to SP. Busy with friends on other games (including GTA IV, I still religiously played the f*ck out of it at the time)

2014 ~ Got into GTA:O. Played it for a bit and created my character at a friend's house, and started playing.

2015 ~ Usually you'd see me playing 2 to sometimes 8 hours daily if work and life permitted.

2016 ~ Time went down to 1 ~ 6 hours but I still played daily.

2017 ~ When GR and SR launched I was in a state of depression so I'd usually binge GTA pulling in unhealthy times of 6 to 14 hours of game time, usually every Wednesday or Thursday per week. I was extremely addicted to GTA.

2018 ~ I play when I can now, unfortunately I only get 3 to 6 hours during the entire week, usually on the weekend, some times during the weekday but almost never have.

Not as near enough as I used to play the last 2 years seeing as the developer's are subtly steering people away from solo play while not heavily incentivising it enough for people willing to chip in. Just feels like a weak system when I invite 3 lobby's worth of people and no one joins and I cant blame them , why the fudge are these missions so effing boring good thing i'm a looney weirdo otherwise I wouldn't own any of R*'s virtual crap.

Play it on and off, pretty much the same rate of time investment as ever, which is to say not all that much.

I mean, like, I'll play for like 15 hours straight and then I won't play for like a week or two. It's as on and off as it ever was

Having unlimited money kind of kills your purpose in the game. I identify completely

I'm glad I experienced the billionaire days, because even within those few weeks I was getting bored of having unlimited resources. I've never been tempted to glitch since. The Buzzard and Adder bonds I brought out with me definitely gave me a head start but times were lean for me until the VIP update. Having enough cash to buy the toys I want and go wild sometimes but not so much that I can ignore earning entirely or go on endless sprees of wanton mayhem is a good middle ground to be in, hungry but not starving.
