THEME OF THIS WEEK: SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS

Make a mission entirely recorded, in cutscenes and gameplay, from the view of one or multiple surveillance cameras.





RULES:



- Only STATIC cameras, in cutscene and gameplay, are allowed;


- Tutorial of how to make static cameras in a gameplay is here;


- Certify yourself to put the camera in a position that simulates a surveillance camera;


- You can make a mission using only cutscenes, but certify yourself to make it good enough to receive votes;


- Dialogues are ALLOWED;


- You can take examples like ATMs, different points of a city, an interior, etc. Use your imagination;


- Deadline for sending your entry is at January 24, 8:30PM GMT;


- Deadline for voting is January 26, 8:30PM GMT.

I enjoy the challenge. Might take inspiration from your MP series.

 

It has to be only through surveillance cameras and no direct action from the player, or I got it wrong? I mean, it’s all about cutscenes?

I have mad idea for it, but one question. Does it really need to simulate a surveillance camera? Can I for example make a mission that use only static camera but it's not like a surveillance?

It's not something we've had in a long time when in terms of the theme. I admire the complicated contest, though. Will definetly try to participate. I hope we get some entries worthy of attention, given how primitive the missions used to be in previous contests.

I have a hunch that the theme is pretty convoluted for many of the designers. I think I'm going to pass this. But, right this way. I at least learnt something new about the static thing.

Man seriously you should've post this before I start that garbage "MPOTM". Nevermind, this theme isn't as hard as it look like cause I made this trick in my MP before! XD I think I'll participate. :^:

Here's the steps from THBP's tutorial.

 

First: create an actor where you want to put the central point of view of the cutscene. Might be anywhere you want, but try not to put it in a difficult location.

 

Second: create a cutscene with the "follow actor" feature, using skip fading necessarily (other features are optional), timing can be whatever you want (00s, 01s, ...). Adjust it the angle you want, always focusing on where the actor you made before will be. After adjusting, set this camera to follow the actor you created in the first step.

 

Third: hide the actor you created in the first step right after creating this cutscene.

 

Fourth: add the objective you want the player to follow (kill an actor, go to a checkpoint, etc. Use your imagination).

 

Fifth: if you want the camera to go back to the normal view, just create a cutscene with random timing/features (might be 00s aswell, rather skid fading and widescreen).

Mostly there are no microphones in surveillance cameras

Use your imagination and you'll find out how to make dialogues ^^ "Your" cameras may have microphones or something like that, it's DYOM. :p

I think you can submit only one mission and can't change it because this one is bad. Anyway, theme is about using static cameras bug but in your mission we have to drive from point A to point B over and over. So... I'm mindfu*ked.

This mission broke the rules. It has to be a camera bug with follow actor bug. But you you was using normal 3rd person camera. So this mission is invalid.

There's no restriction about dialogues, even because the missions will need to have a story on its background and dialogues are essential for it.

There is no much to say about it. I could see it doesn't follow the rules by checking the blueprint, it wasn't even necessary to play it.
