I love how much effort and time you put into this.

Also, I think the ZR-350 was in San Andreas. Not IV.

Great concept, I love the neo-noir theme. Personally I'd love to see the Blade Runner Spinner being added to the game with the ability to hover and fly, just like the Deluxo, but without any weapons, I just want to cruise around with it.

Night Calls

Contracts come and go in the criminal underworld, and the best way to get something done is to have a phone ringing at the right time, and have the right silent psychopath pick it up. New Freeroam Jobs for players may appear, showing as Phone Icons appearing across the map. If a player answers one of these payphones, they will be assigned a Contract that will reward some quick cash if completed. These can range from attacks on gang hideouts, destroying a depot of cars or supplies, disrupting a drug deal, or even targeting other players. Players can even share cash from these Freemode Jobs with other players in the session. One thing is certain; do the jobs, get paid, and don’t ask questions.

Some Night Calls:

· Night Stalker: Pursue and follow the targeted Player for a certain amount of time. Remain within the radius without being killed to succeed. Your blip is hidden, but the stalked player gets a warning they are being followed. (Ex. An uneasy feeling hits you, like someone is watching you…)

· Just Drive: Pick up 1-3 NPC Robbers from their stickup and get them to safety.

· Modus Operandi: Kill the targeted Player by the Clients requested means. (Ex. Kill Rando123 with a shotgun.)

· Sacrificial Lamb: Pick up a Player or Prostitute and take them to the Altruists to be sacrificed.

· Bomb Voyage: Pick up a designated car, plant a bomb in it and get it back before the time is up.

· Hotline Los Santos: Go to the selected gang-hub and kill as many gang members as you can without dying. (Similar to Trevor Rampages.)

· Secret Admirer: Track down a Player and get a picture of them for an estranged secret admirer.

· Grave Digger: Lead a targeted Player out to a burial spot. Have them dig a grave and then kill them.

· Vigilante: Steal a police car, check the LSPD database. A Player is randomly selected, hunt that person down and kill them.

· Snitches Get Stitches: Collect Intel on a weapons/contraband deal, sneak up on it, and call the police on the scene.

Well done on the concept but I'm really not a fan, just seems like a re-skin of past updates except now other players would annoy me by invading my business', it's bad enough NPC's do that. I think when it comes to those vehicles I've personally had enough of the retro vehicles for now only because R* will most likely place them in sports classics class which I despise for it being so useless. I do like the idea of a new radio station, implementation of the club and new weapons.

Overall I appreciate the nostalgic vice city vibes in this

Garrote Wire - When it comes to a finessed killing, nothing writes a love letter to silent murders like the classic piano wire. While utterly useless in hand to hand combat, this strand of deadly thread makes for some impressive stealth takedowns.

This is the thing that all Hitmans... and Mercenaries... and somethimes even smugglers want in their pouches.

I love the concept, big fan of neo-noir but we already have a Countach ingame. Maybe swap it out for the Chevelle from Drive?

The Synthwave fanboy in me just squealed. Yes to all of this. Such a shame Mightride FM wasn't in GTAV after it was teased by Kavinsky himself.

I already want this update because of lever action and flamethrower. Good job, dude!
Also, may i ask, did you make "Outrun Overdrive" by yourself?

Ok this has to be one of the best concepts I seen on the forum! Well done and everything OP my only thing is the De Tomaso and Lamborghini, don't we have a car like those two already? Other than that I completely support this dlc and would attempt to send the the entire concept to rockstar

It is indeed a well thought out and written concept! But with a radio station called Nightride, generally it would be suited better with nightlife/modern clubbing music.

I'm also not digging the 80's themed vehicles and would prefer more modern sedans, coupes and compacts with perhaps Benny options.

Anyway they're my thoughts. Don't let them put you off though; the concept is absolutely brilliant!

Merely the addition of a synthwave station would take GTAV out of the bottom of the list when it comes to radio station quality in the GTA series.

Good concept, just didn't like the cheesy Declasse Megusta name.

Loved everything about your idea except one...the home invasion thing. We already have enough options for grieving each other, why add breaking into each other's homes. What would make more sense would be to have random NPC homes become targets/contracts for home invasion. Then fence the goods at a pawn shop. Other than that, I think it is a great concept.

Aggregate Demand

I quite like the concept - great job OP!

I'm not a massive fan of the 80s, but I feel like it's a concept I could get behind if it was introduced. We definitely need places to hang out at night, and the missions (particularly the getaway driver missions) would be incredibly fun. Adding the Spotify playlist was a fantastic idea.

All in all, a fantastic effort, and a nice departure from the overdone military-themed updates of late.

Non Funkable Token

Love the concept, but a few pet peeves:

-Home invasions? Better keep that tool away from the griefers and the modders (pc).

-Countach is already in the game (Torero), better save that spot for a different car.

-Maserati counterpart in the game is Lampadati, not Ocelot. The car is okay tho.

As much as the synthwave style is popular, you haven't really commented on whether the features would work in the game, which I think they would. I'd say the quality of the features negates the criticism of the concept being 'derivative', plus home invasions in some sort of disguise aren't inevitably going to be inspired by Hotline Miami either.

The idea is really cool, man. Did you send this to mouthoff?
Moreover, this theme is very hot nowadays. I guess I will be not wrong if I say that clubs, night vibes, classic but top and well-planned assassin's missions are long awaited and highly requested. I believe there is something on the horizon from R* as well.
As for proofs, I think that 2017 gave us a great car list from this potential theme and we have all chances to see a really good content.

Had to remove a bunch of replies. Please don't derail the thread.

Criticism is fine, but if you have literally nothing nice to say especially about something you don't even like to begin with, is it even worth it?

Personally, I like synthwave/retrowave/80's aesthetic/whatever you want to call it so I wouldn't mind it - and no, I didn't discover it through Hotline Miami.

btw, OP, the Counthash is kinda already in the game it's the Torero now. :p

WACKADOODLEDOO

Hello everyone!

Im glad to see so many people getting involved in the conversation on Outrun Overdrive! Just something I wanted to quickly address regarding my motivation for this update.

Ive seen a lot of discussion over the validity of my inspiration for this update and its caused some heated opinions, which Id like to directly acknowledge; I do in fact list Hotline as a inspiration for this update, I can thoroughly assure that it was not a primary motivation for it.

Surprisingly, the factor that inspired me most was the music of Kavinsky, after which I found that he had produced a great deal of the soundtrack for Drive. And of course this led me to find out about Hotline, a homage to 80s culture and Outrun, respectfully as well. Kavinskys music alone was enough to get me typing to begin with!

My real goal was to encompass the dark and macabre criminal motivations that most neon-noir works draw from, while simultaneously combining elements that the GTA franchise has touched on throughout its history since its conception.

My goal with this concept was to embrace a rich and defining time period and culture and reference other popular works to further intrigue and introduce the ideas to the readers.

Regardless of when and where you discover a trend, it seems a little closed minded to not want more people to expose themselves and build a interpretation for themselves. I do hope we can keep a open mind as we continue developing this concept further!

But without further digressing, I appreciate all feedback and want to apply everyones opinions and suggestions to further define what we, the players, want in our updates. Rockstar deserves to know what we want to continue playing their game!

Thanks again, and I look forward to working on this concert further with the forums direction!
