Playing with No HUD/UI

Recommended Posts

djb204

I use to do this in Redemption1. Never knowing which direction the enemy was. Never knowing which direction to go to a particular settlement and having to rely on road signs to navigate. It was 100 times more immersive. Unfortunately for me I know the map like the back of my hand now, so the sense of exploration and getting lost is gone lol. I cant wait for the new map.

Playing without the HUD/UI is how I will be playing Redemption2, and I will be taking my time exploring this time. The last thing I want if to take the magic out of the world too quick because I explored everywhere and did everything.

How long did it take for you to get to know the map then?

BUT THE BENZ

4 to 5 years I suppose? I do know it quite well myself....played the game every other year or so since release. and coincidentally right now, I try to do a playthrough on hardcore without map/hud. it truly is another push in terms of immersion

NO clue honestly. I bought the game at launch and played it religiously. The map isnt that big though in Redemption1. I'd wouldn't doubt it was under a year of playing.

Didn't try this before in Redemption, and personally, I don't think it'd make a difference for me. Immersion for me is mostly about the scenery, weather, sounds and AI routines.

Diez Coronas in Mexico was probably the toughest. The terrain is often times identical in appearance no matter which direction you look. The other regions in Redemption1's map have distinguishable land marks that can bee seen from a distance. These land marks were key in navigating the world without the HUD.

I agree, Mexico gave more of a lost in the desert kinda feeling.
