Elegy Retro on a Flatbed?

What in god's name is this about? Friend was in a random lobby on Xbox One and came across this. I have no idea how to explain it except that it's an Elegy Retro Custom clearly tethered to a Flatbed with damage that doesn't look possible in-game...the way the hood is bent is a bit too realistic for GTA.

 

 

 

Anyone know what this is about?

Part of one of the setup missions, you're tasked with finding a few Strombergs on similar flatbeds and given a bunch of targets on the map but only some contain Strombergs. The Elegy's one of the wrong targets that can spawn in.

Ah. Weird. I guess I never saw it because, coincidentally, all four of us got to the Strombergs first try.

While those Elegys do spawn during that setup, the vehicles they are being transported on are all Wastelanders from what I've seen. Either this is a glitch, a new implementation to random traffic by R* or my game screwing me over by never giving Flatbeds.

 

However if you stay close to an Elegy wastelander during a prep, it will blow up too.

Wow. They couldn't just make it despawn? I don't see why they have to make it Sponteniously Combust.

I know this is an ancient topic at this point, but I just want to throw this out here.
After seeing one of these (with a Wastelander instead of a flatbed), I killed the two people in the Wastelander, and just sat next to it for a while, doing the most casual of shenanigans, like attempting to get into the Elegy, etc.
But then, the Wastelander despawned, but not the Elegy. So I waited more, and wizardry ensued.
