This thread is dedicated to the game that gave the popularity to the GTA Franchise & changed the world in gaming

it'll be turning 17 this year on the 22nd of October

What are you're most favorite memories while playing GTA III?

My most favorite memory was by achieving 100% simply because it was a lot of fun besides the Paramedic & glitches that happened & it was also one of my very first games i ever owned...

A lot of time is still left to be in October and the GTA3 anniversary (again) but oh, well... My greatest memory with GTA3 is when I was a kid playing it with my cousins for the first time on a fat PS2 in Christmas. The three-dimensional world was just blowing my mind because the city, vehicles, pedestrians, weather, time and everything had reactions and was so alive. The freedom of do anything was just insane for it time when the game was released. Lovely, lovely... nostalgic.

This was my first gta game and i remember i couldnt finish the mission E2G and i rage quit

Then i played it again and finished it in 2011

My favourite memory of this game was unlocking staunton island for the first time. I tried so many methods to cheat into 2nd city but died in water.

When i finally unlocked it was such a joy for me

Other things i liked about this game was rampages, collecting hidden packages, messing around with police and attaining 6 star wanted level. and ofcourse the storyline missions.

While graphics dont hold well by todays standards, it was a true masterpiece of its time and a gem in video game history.

I hate to be that guy but.. come on. You just made a GTA 3 Anniversary topic? On January? And also - it would be the 17th anniversary.. I don't think that it's kinda special. We had 10 years in 2011, then we had 15 years in 2016 but what's up with this topic in 2018. We are about to have a 20 years anniversary in 2021 so you should be looking forward to it. If you just want to discuss memories and nostalgia I guess there is a topic: http://gtaforums.com/topic/861082-gta3-blinded-sighted-nostalgia-or/

I get your point but, I think topics like these keep the games alive in a way, remember, its an old game and sharing memories with people helps remembering that game, so, I dont mind a thread like this.

OT, first time playing this game was in 2011 (yeah, kinda late but I started playing a GTA game in 2005 or 06 and that was Vice City).

I can still remember how frustrating some of the missions were, it took me like a week or so to finish it  .

This is a forum dedicated to the GTA series. Who on this website would forget about III, arguably the game that pushed the series into the mainstream and made it as popular as it is?

I particularly enjoyed the mission when I had to kill the 3 triad bosses, with the gore mode, this battlefield atmosphere that was a great moment.

! have two memorable moments: when I was still in school I was visiting a friend, and he said "here, play this game while I go have food". And I played that mission where you had to deliver a white limo to Joey; I remember turning underneath the Callahan bridge with the sun shining into the camera. It was beautiful and not forgettable.

I did not do 100% until much later, I think it was around 2010. I planned it so that my 100% completion was accomplished by performing the 100th unique stunt jumping over the Shoreside Vale reservoir during sunrise in a Stinger (which I brought specifically from Stauton or bough in the garage, can't remember) with Rise FM playing. Best. Game. Completion. Ever.

I loved Mike Lips' Last Lunch, as well as the second mission in the game.

I'm nostalgic over the commercials I saw as a kid when It was on TV. I loved just randomly shooting and collecting money when I was young. Plus I remember when I first got it I was eating either a Honey Cajun or Honey BBQ wings from KFC and I don't think I felt good when I first owned it. I might've been 11, a year after it came out, I think.

The game in general is just amazing. I still play it to this day on PS2 and PC. I'd take it over V anyday...

Anyway, my favourite memory is just walking down the street and constantly hearing 1 of 2 things:

"IN THE NAVY"

Or

"You Can Sail The Seven Seas"

It's hard to believe the game came out that long ago, but I have numerous memories of such a revolutionary game.

I didn't play it until 2005, after playing LCS. I always felt like III had a 70s character portrait movie sort of aesthetic. Never was ever replicated, III is the purest GTA game, not bogged down in anything. The most impressive transition in gaming history!

When I first got it I was more interested in taking down pedestrians and using cheats than I was doing missions. Though many of them became fun and some took a while to get used to. I just watched the trailer/commercial on YouTube and the nostalgia is hard hitting. I know next to nothain't about the first two games. When III came out, that put the whole thing on the map.

My childhood Simple as that. I still have so much respect for this game for what it did to change the gaming industry at the time. Damn looking back at 2001. Damn how time flies.
