I feel like Los Santos could use some more heroes.

I often find myself high above the clouds, looking down on a peaceful, bright lit Los Santos below. Hovering above the Maze Bank building silently in my Akula, making sure there is peace in the night.

In a city where so many good citizens, who are trying to do the right thing and earn money, or socialize with others, are often brutally attacked by Hydras and Lazers for pure sport. Where people marked with bounties try to wreak havoc among the public. Where those who wanted nothing more than to just buy the newest kicks from Ponsonbys are ran over, or are shot from the window of a passing Zentorno, unprovoked. Who stands for these people? Who answers the call to protect the masses from the evil, born of the bowels of LS? I consider myself one of the few.

There I sit in the clouds, watching as an Oppressor gives chase to an unsuspecting victim. Without regard for my own safety I begin my decent, careful to never reveal my identity to the citizens I protect. As I approach altitude, I get that weaponized, gliding motorcycle in my sights. Stealth mode is now off, missiles are locking. I fire. The unsuspecting villain is hit directly in the tailpipe with two shots of Los Santos justice. The would-be victim of his is now safe to live another day.

Being a vigilante is tough. Citizens sometimes mistake you for the enemy. The police are often trying to kill you; even though you both fight on the same side. You get no recognition because your mask keeps your identity a secret. When I was very young, my parents were brutally murdered in the streets of another hate-filled city...Gotham.

I flee the scene, as to not give away my identity. When I am clear and out of sight, I begin my ascent back to the lonely night skies, ready to do violence on good people's behalf.

I fight for those who cannot do it for themselves, and for those who can protect themselves, but are caught off-guard by the scum this city produces. But I am a firm believer that by knowing what lurks in the skies above, even the most hardened criminals can turn around and be good - because they know I am watching.

I like it how I hunt down the f*cker griefing others like a dog, killing them over and over so they can't do more harm

then they go on mic and cry to others

or players take notice that I'm killing this one player over and over

then everybody works together to hunt me down because they think I'm a bad guy

every f*cking time

well at least I succeed in uniting the session under one common enemy

I tried to be a hero once...

The guy I saved turned around and blew me up as thanks for saving him from the tryhard in the chrome hydra.

A cool thread tho.

An Orbital Cannon could be watching you.

I try my best as a sheriff to make Los Santos a better place, but with the amount of insane sh*t happening I can only do so much in the #1 Murder Capital of the World.

Killer Whale

A hero, huh? Like a "helping others from forces of evil" kind of hero, or a "helping my oppressed bank account" hero?

Sure, sure... as long as there's a spandex outfit with my name on it, I'll "help" those poor people.

You forgot to end your monologue with "I am Bazunjman".

Personally I prefer the Punisher. Strike down those griefers with furious anger and...wait, thats another character right? Still, I do prefer the Punisher over Batman. He gets the punishing done.

See, that's why I could never get behind the whole CEO angle - I'm a scrappy 'Robin Hood' type, a hero of the regular people.

You know the routine: rob from the rich, give to ...well, I'm technically poor, so it's still a noble act if I keep it, right? :colgate:

I do the same, but more part time. First priority when I log on, is to sell a couple of export cars, with VIP work in between, then I head off to sell my bunker stock.

I still do contact missions, practice certain tracks, race etc.

But when I am in free roam I always keep an eye open for tryhards or griefers. If they are going after sales, spawn killing low levels, I go after them. I will usually attack oppressors on sight because I've only ever seen one, that wasn't being used to chase after sales or just attacking everything on the map. I've gotten very good at taking these players out, taking their attention off the rest of the session and driving them crazy.

Its a thankless but satisfying thing to do.

I sometimes do this in extreme cases. About 2 weeks ago I was in a session where this 306 player was constantly killing random people, blowing up organizations cargo, and ruining Stand Your Ground missions. He had killed me a couple of times, and about 30 minutes after those had occurred, there was an organization doing Stand Your Ground right outside Fort Zancudo. Naturally, he went to take over the area. I went and clarified with the organization via in-game text that I was only there to kill that rank 306 player. I think they and pretty much everyone in the session hated him. Sniped him without incident and he didnt have enough time left to go back and attempt to take the area over again. Resulted in him throwing a tantrum with his Hydra.

Before this, I was against GTAFs view of not blowing up organization cargo. I had thought it was just part of the game before that day, since the sh*t f*cking prods you to do it. Because of that day and another day that I wrote a B&M post about recently, I understand that its so f*cking annoying when that happens now.

Why in the world would one start Stand Your Ground and then get pissed off when someone comes to actually participate in it by attempting to capture?

In this particular instance, it was like we (as a session, really) had all had enough of this person and felt like sticking it to him. He hadnt been kicked yet, and one thing I wonder about is if most people know that the kick function exists. I get messages from people asking me to do it all the time.

Edit: And, since you asked why someone would get upset about someone else doing what the game tells them to do - that was my exact question regarding cargo. Infiltrating a Stand Your Ground = okay, blowing up cargo = not okay, we need private sessions for this stuff apparently.
