GTA5O: Private Public Lobby with Multi-IP whitelist
A tool to setup your GTA5 firewall rules easily. Adding IPs to your whitelist enables your friends to stay in your session. Comes in handy whenever you want to do Public Session only missions in peace.

Setup:
Download the release and extract all files.
Inside the folder start the .EXE as administrator.

How-to (SOLO lobby):
Start the program as admin with Windows firewall enabled.
Click "Activate Rules".
Join GTA online.

How-to (Friends lobby):
Start the program as admin with Windows firewall enabled. Add your friends IPs to the whitelist.
Click "Activate Rules".
Join GTA online.
Click "Deactivate Rules" and invite your friends.
If they're all there click "Activate rules" again.

Requirements
.NET Framework 4.6.1
Enabled Windows Firewall
Administrator Priviliges

If your friend is on the same network you'll need to add his local IP-Address!

Note: you don't need to add your own IP Address. Source is on Github.

Link to it.

https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/gta5o-private-public-lobby-with-multi-ip-whitelist

Just in case you guys not already know about that you can create a public safe session with this little application/tool

All you have to do is add your friends public ip adresses to the whitelist and activate the rules for like 10 seconds then it`s like you and your friends leave the session for all the others and your in your own little session again everytime you activate the rules again or you keep them active and nobody except the ppl on the whitelist can join.

Hope this helps some ppl because now the sessions are really toxic.

If this is in the wrong forum category just move it to another location please if it`s against the rules of this forum just delete it.

Just wanted to help a bit.

Jopa's tool is pretty useful.

5f0479-Screenshot%202017-05-29%2004.18.5

But the harder part is convincing your friends to cough up their IPs.

Some friends reported that whitelisting IPs with it doesn't work. We'll try this one too.

I'd thought about creating a thread in the Lobbies and Meetups section with the title "PC - The Friendly Solo Public Lobby topic" whereby everyone could join up, do whatever they wanted due to the so-called 'benefits' of PC (ie, infinite ammo, spawning vehicles and teleportation - stuff that nobody else was going to be affected by anyway - with the caveat of anyone breaking that trust would be reported and named & shamed on the forums) - with the benefit of being able to join Organisations or Motorcycle Clubs or simply make more money from the various cargo sales as a result of having more people in the session.

I had to take a step back and let common sense kick in with maturity to conclude that it'd most likely be a futile effort and several elements probably wouldn't be supported by the GTA Forums staff - and that's completely fair.

This is a great option to have though, so people can play with who they choose specifically.

Given that it's only a matter of time before mod menus allow script kiddies to orbital strike for free and remove the cool down, this might become essential. Oddly enough was just googling how to whitelist IPs myself.

If I ever get around to actually making it I've been thinking about making a tool to create, and manage firewall rules that has two parts. One part to create and manage the rules, and another part to handle the IP addresses.

I haven't decided if I should have it use some kind of encrypted database to store the IPs, or how to make it easy for add friends.

I don't know if GTAO supports IPv6 or not so that's making it a bit harder. If it does support IPv6, and you only block IPv4 addresses you can still have others join using IPv6 if you both have an IPv6 connection. If it doesn't support IPv6 than it's not an issue.

Wouldn't the software be registered in your DxDiag and MSInfo files, so it would be revealed when you submit a ticket in Support?

I think a lagswitch producing a small data packet loss is still better, as it doesn't register the device and still could be passed for a network quirk or a cat gnawing on your cable.

Unfortunately Rockstar would be able to "fix the issue", how, i would leave it open for your imagination.

If you were to have it run on startup, as a service, or have it running when creating the msinfo32 report it show in the file. If it crashed, and created an report in the windows event viewer it will show up unless you clear the even viewer logs before creating the report. If you add it as an environment variable the variable, and data will show up.

dxdiag doesn't report installed software. Only hardware, drivers, and multimedia support.

If you use SLI, or Crossfire that information is not known to dxdiag, or msinfo32. This is probably one of the reasons most companies don't support those.

They don't report firewall rules.

Wow this went too far.

People are taking way too serious.

You have to understand the PC version is littered with real cheaters who can easily screw with you using malicious mod menus made specifically to **** with other players, the amount of cheaters is getting bananas at this point. Even many legit players use them just so they know who in the session is cheating.

I bet half the remaining legit PC players who play in solo public sessions would be happy to play in regular public sessions if the cheaters were kicked or banned as they joined their session but right now doing a sale job in a public PC session is probably the best way to lose money and get screwed with, so I don't blame players for just wanting to play with people they know.

The console & PC version are two different games thanks to mod menus and for once we can all agree that this game is better on console (NO! I CAN'T ADMIT THAT!!!) made for console.

Wow this went too far.

People are taking way too serious.

It went too far 7-8 months ago. That's why Gaffa had to make a PSA thread about money, rank and outfit manipulation. None of these would be an issue if they just let us do these in closed sessions.

Even though no-one joins our public session it's pretty unnecessary to switch to public to do one resupply run or even buy supplies.

But that's a discussion/rant for another topic.

OT: Glad there are people doing these and the MTU method on consoles. It makes the game less toxic and somewhat more enjoyable.

It went too far the moment R* made forced public session content a thing. On PC. Knowing people will cheat if they can. Knowing that people CAN cheat in this game easily. Knowing that people DO cheat, all the time. Knowing that there's pretty much a goddamn competitive market for mod menus for this game on PC, and that people buy those instead of spending money on shark cards.

That's when it went too far. The whole year (if not longer) of constant public session only content, it just forced people to find ways to defend themselves from this much quicker. Even in these new heists, they had to find a way to put public session freeroam 'preps' in there. And they've had the audacity to put a pay to skip option for them.

That's why people come up with solo public session methods. Why people make crews to run full 29 people 'friendly' CEO sessions. Because of how absolutely terrible the MP game design is in GTAO. The past few days, maybe just because of christmas break and all the 12 year old mod menu kiddies running about, it has been almost impossible to find a session without someone hiding off the playerlist, blowing up everyone, spamming UFOs, throwing you around, teleporting and generally being a little sh*t because that's what's 'cool' nowadays, that's how you get 'in with the crowd'. By being an absolute c*nt to everyone.

And then R* just adds an AoE, no aim required, pay-to-instant-kill anywhere on the map copy paste mod menu feature (Orbital Cannon, lol "mod menu cannon"). And gives everyone a free shot on christmas, so that any time you spend playing this game during the holidays will be 150% cancerous because anytime you're out in the open(all the public session missions) you're a viable target to get instantly killed by mod menus or trollbital cannons.

Who am I kidding, all the mod menu users have billions anyway so they'd destroy you one way or another, free troll cannon or not.

Console players might be able to use a firewall rule like this if they setup the console to use a proxy app on their PC.

Some routers support firewall rules like this. Probably any router using *WRT (DDWRT OpenWRT ETC) firmware does. For DDWRT a tool could be made to easily setup the rules there, but it would need SSH/Telnet access to router. I don't think many people would want to use a program like that though because it could also easily change or get other information, and most people are far too paranoid.

Cheating is not a problem at all on consoles. Well, except the lag-switch thing but I mean an actual mod menu with god mode, teleportation, etc.

Plus, i think setting up the router like that would prevent you from playing with randoms or joining random deathmatches, races etc.

From what I've seen, an average session on ps4 is more friendly than on PC. It might be the targeting modes.

Yes you would need to change the parameters everytime you want join separate game modes hosted by randoms.

I'm unsure about joining heists/missions/adv modes hosted by friends whitelisting you...IO does the job if the point is to play heists with friends.

You don't even need to run these third party apps to do this basic networking work around.

Everything you need to do can be done in windows firewall.

That's a matter of opinion. I play this on Xbox One, and from my experience despite not seeing mod menus the sessions are far worse. They are far more hostile, more players being dicks on voice chat, sending rude or creepy messages, and more. If I only played on console I would use something like this.

Whitelisting IPs works with Jopa's tool but his calculation is wrong, you can only whitelist one friend. That's why I made my own version.

Oh, you're the creator? Good job on it and welcome to the forum. Can you riddle me something?

GTAO's sessions rely on P2P and on the "host's" (the first one in that session) internet.

So whenever I "host", use the tool or just join a session and "lag out" by freezing the game for 10 seconds, I can invite few friends and we can stay like that for hours, with no randoms joining.

Do you have a clue why that is? We think it's because of my slow bandwidth, 5.2Mbps. Could that be the case?

Yeah, you're right. It's a personal preference. Toxic behavior exists on all 3 (5?) platforms. But mod menus don't actually exist on consoles so, for example, you can set your voice chat to just crew and friends and ignore text messages. It will never get as bad as people teleporting on your yacht while you're doing Piracy Prevention. Have god mode and explosive minigun, not to win 30k, but to make your experience miserable.

Thanks ;)

> Do you have a clue why that is?

Dark Souls 1 has a similar P2P system that works with what some call pools. There are also some 3rd party tools (DSCM) that make you connect to a specific pool because it could take ages before you can find your co-op friend, who might be in a different pool. Same theory could be applied to GTA:O, it takes a lot of time for players to find your previously "dead" pool and connect to it. Just my 2 cents.

> We think it's because of my slow bandwidth, 5.2Mbps. Could that be the case?

5.2 Mbps is still 6.5 megabyte per second which is pretty fast, it should be able to host a 32 player pool. Oops derped, but still, I don't think it's because of your speed. The same thing happens to me and some friends who have 200 megabits per second.

Well, that explains something but not the question I had in mind. Maybe I didn't word it right.

Usually when I join friends in a small session random joins are expected. People who just finished a job or loading online, etc. That is never the case when friends join me. Why?

Even if I split and join back not few minutes pass and other people join as well. I'm talking about freemode.

Well, I never play in solo lobbies and statistically speaking you rarely see more than a single cheater in a session.

now doing a sale job in a public PC session is probably the best way to lose money and get screwed with

That's true, but not because of the cheaters, but mostly because of the Deluxos (a new popular griefing tool). I failed a sale

- yet I managed to switch sessions and keep the stock. Idk why, i was never blown up by cheaters during a sale.

My product was destroyed by the Orbital Cannon only a single time as well, but I specifically messed with that person before doing a sale :D

Even many legit players use them just so they know who in the session is cheating.

You DO know these menus are giving false alarms, right? You can't rely on this information alone.

Wow this went too far.

People are taking way too serious.

People didn't change their attitude towards freeroam. They are just finding new ways and new excuses.

I had a friend who was always in that "dead pool" he has 2 pc`s and one of them was running 24/7 just keeping a safe session. But he stopped playing like a half year ago. Then i don`t know it was like 2 weeks ago a friend gave me the link to codeswines tool. Now i can finally play in peace again.

Maybe it had something to do that my friend was mostly with two accounts in the game with the same wan ip this way he sometimes got put into the "dead pool". And one account was the steam version and one the rockstar warehouse/social club version might also be not so unimportant. Im no expert but i played with this friend for over a year and always had a safe session thanks to him.

It would be awesome to find a way to always get put into the "dead pool" so only friends and friends of friends can join and this way we wouldn`t have to use such tools anymore.

Thank you Codeswine welcome to the forum.

Just use the tool in the first post and activate rules for 10 seconds. You can use hotkey ctrl + F10 for it ingame. It`s the easiest way so far.

Just make sure you run it in the background. And if you want to stay alone let it activated. You can toggle it on and off with the hotkey.

Is that download or upload? If it's upload it's not the reason.

The best connection I can get in this rural hellhole. I hate aDSL.

People still join me if I do that. Sometimes it's less than 60 seconds later, and others it might last 30 minutes, Doesn't last over an hour.

It's true that there were certain mod menus that could blow up the entire lobby but that was a comparatively rare experience for me fortunately. I suspect there is a new native function for the orbital strike, which may be more easily exploited - I.e appear in more mod menus. Hopefully I'm wrong, we'll see.

Some ppl are afraid to use the whitelist ip method. They think they can get banned for this. I explained to them that it only uses the windows firewall. But they are to stupid to understand the simplest things.
