I dont think 100 missions would maded the Story good, because you focus on the FBI/IAA bullsh*t

I mean bring me a game that provided great story with 3 protagonists? 3 protagonists maked the story less focussed, more sub-plots, more characters, harder to write, harder to have better and more character development

I guess if you scrapped Franklin, specially when he become a third wheel after the Jewel Score

yeah in SA you do gang warfare, but it would been really weird and out of character for Franklin and Michael and i cant see how would worked with Trevor

We're not implying that GTA V with 100 story missions would follow the exact same story structure as used currently but rather that the game should have been planned based on 100 story missions at least that would involve maybe like a story arc for each main protagonist, good no. of heist missions and a small FBI story arc just like previous GTA titles.

But yea I agree, I would have been content with maybe having only Michael as the main protagonist and only one. After all, he's the only one who actually goes through character development where he realizes his flaws and make amends with his family. Plus he was the first character Rockstar thought of when making this game.

Lastly you can have Trevor take over territory through warfare and expand his meth business. After all the whole Lost takeover he did was basically a gang warfare and you even have him drop bomb on another enemy base during his weapon supplying plane missions. Also there are the Triads he needs to take care of and the Hillbillies he pissed off. Those could have functioned as enemy gangs.

Franklin could have some decent number of gang warfare missions before he branches out to Michael or maybe like after Lamar Down mission, he might realize that he needs to stick by his homie, taking out Stretch out through a series of gang warfare missions and hence have some character development where he finally became a "man" that the game keep bitchin him to become. We could even win over Grove street in the end.

As for Michael, well there a lot of stores, banks and business that he could perform small heists on. That could have been a nice side missions for him to make cash off. But really if good gameplay is being blocked by character's personalities, then re-adjust and write them better instead, no?

A good game, but average for a GTA game.

A flawed masterpiece. A cool sandbox to play in, but the plot is subpar, there are many artificial constraints (for example, with the clothes combination), the businesses are useless; and I'm not really a big fan of the gunplay here, with the enemies being aimbots and all.

I'm not sure if Online was detrimental to SP mode's quality. After all, the Housers didn't know it will be printing them money back then.

I hate it. The reason behind my hatred against that game is, because it is created as part of the Grand Theft Auto series. If it was released under another name or franchise, I would absolutely like it as an action and open world TPS game because it would be a good competitor to GTA franchise. As an huge GTA fan, and a person who finished GTAs since 3D era over and over again and enjoyed on cutscenes so much but I did find V's storyline too simple and it has no memorable characters. Criminals, mobsters, bosses are one of the few special elements for the GTA series. Each one of them also has different type of behavior and unique sense of humuor. I honestly don't remember any memorable character that has been newly created for GTA V except Lester Crest and also I didn't feel any kind of crime atmosphere neither on the streets nor in cutscenes. Other than that, V seemed to me a game which is based on online experience with casual activities rather than a single player experience.

Why would they remove entering Burger Shot or give us less indoor places? Why would they make mechanics much inferior than IV?

Many people think that GTA V has really big map but most of the map is based on mountains and deserts. Just small amount of them based on city so that we have just a Downtown centered city except a few other small dead towns. That's why LA isn't as liveable as NYC we've seen in GTA IV.

There are many flaws on the storyline that bothered me. It is too cheapy and there is no deepness on the plot on the contrary to the other GTAs. I've already explained my own complains about storyline why I didn't like it and I found non-sense. If you're wondering check my topic:

Having three playable character became a nightmare for me since I first heard about it in 2011. Changing your character just like weapon was totally bullsh*t to me and after I played the game I realized that I was right. Also, every one of these main characters are terrible to me. Writers at Rockstar, tried to focus on 3 protagonists that's why they ruined everything.

These were subjective opinions, so anyone can disagree with me about storyline or characters but I also think GTA V failed us technically and that means devs at Rockstar, they did pretty poor job if you compare its physics with GTA IV.

Nobody can argue with laws of physics right?

- Shooting mechanics (Check out the video below)

- Pedestrians injuring

- Car collisions

- Car damage models

- Environmental damages for example: a scratch in the wall

- Driving mechanics

- Flying out of windshield (that was removed in GTA V, AFAIK(?))

- Jumping out of from car animations

- Did you know when we shoot a car's tire it was more realistic in GTA IV? ( Go to 14:51 video below)

A small note: I don't understand why they made square radar on the left bottom corner rather than classic circled based radar? 😛

Basically, GTA IV has advanced ragdoll physics but V doesn't have as advanced as IV had.

I doubt, Rockstar developers didn't worked as hard as they worked on GTA IV. I read on an article which was about how hard Rockstar developers worked on NaturalMotion's Euphoria engine to implement those realistic mechanics and physics engine to the their in house engine which is called RAGE. A team from NaturalMotion also helped them.

Quote

"Harry Denholm worked on GTA4 as engineering lead at NaturalMotion, the company behind Euphoria."

Denholm explains. "A small team was assembled at NaturalMotion to start work on integrating with RAGE and iterating directly with gameplay and animation teams in San Diego. I was the technical lead of that team, handling the RAGE integration, runtime engineering and engine-specific tools work."

Source: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-02-12-one-thing-about-gta4-has-never-been-bettered

GTA V is most profitable entertainment product ever but that doesn't change that it has "controversially" poor writing on both storyline and characters. But also due to its inferiour mechanics and physics engine it is "indisputably" has inferior mechanics and physics than GTA IV. That technically makes GTA V worse than GTA IV.

GTA 5 was a OK story, but lots of unused wasted potential. GTA 5 had a very boring and dead story map. Lack of buildings you can enter, and the players/NPCs cannot interact with the environment much.

My major problem with GTA 5 SP is there are lack criminal activities associated with being a bank robber/movie producer, psychopath, and a hustler/ ex gang banger. These three guys should not be making their money off the stock market. This is a very stupid idea by R*. Now, the casino is online only.

Mike should have more robberies, assassinations, and security/ bodyguards jobs for the celebrities in nightclubs and movie studio.

Franklin should had his own car dealership where he can steal, respray, and sell vehicles. Setup racing competitions, and repo jobs.

Trevor should  have missions expanding TPI with warehouses full of merchandise to sell and protect.

Yeah it makes you wonder how Rockstar even manage to screw up SP this hard. Seems like they paid for story writers for the singleplayer whereas almost all of the gameplay designers were assigned to Online instead.

So much potential...

Franklin: Lowriders, Import/Export, Arena War & Bikers.

Trevor: Gunrunning, Smugglers Run, The Doomsday Heist.

Michael: Executives and Other Criminals, Further Adventures in Finance and Felony,  After Hours and Diamond Casino.

Now hold on, I wouldn't say put EVERY update from Online to story because right now Online is a friggin mess. From flying cars or bikes with guided missiles, laser miniguns and don't get me started on the Mad Max type update, Arena War.

I would say just bring Doomsday Heist because I heard it was supposed to be in single player anyways.

Arena War could be on single player but less arcade, like the Stadiums in SA. We could bet on a player or participate similar to TBOGT cage fights. Same with Doomsday Heist just cut the over the top flying cars...

Yeah. I was thinking same thing.

In Monkey Business (I think this is the name of the story mission) when the trio need to help the FIB to steal something out of the research lab. Mike says to Trevor, "where were you". Trevor replies, "I have a business to run. I am CEO of corporation" (I think Trevor say something close to this). At this point of the game, Trevor should of have many warehouses to sell and protect his merchandise. TPI should be alot bigger than it was.

I love this game, it is my favorite of the series!

That being said, I will admit that it does have flaws, and it is far from a masterpiece. I love this game quite a bit, but I understand why those who don't enjoy the game don't enjoy it.

A good game but got majorly exposed over time.

When I first played GTA V I was really caught up in the moment, the first couple of days I thought everything was THE BEST THING EVER. Then I started playing through the story more and I realized how weak it all was which sucked. I still enjoyed the story, but I was really waiting for it to hit that next level like other GTA games and it just never did.

I feel like, while I like the idea of having two ways to do most heists, if they had removed that. We could have had more heists. What was there was good, I think the biggest problem is that there's not enough of it.

-Map is beautiful, especially in the rural parts.

-Gameplay is alright, though GTA IV physics are better IMO

-Story is ok, just ok, though there are some very annoying characters like Tracey, with that valley girl accent.

-f*ck GTA Online.

2011-2013: My reaction was excitement and super hyped

Now: meh, since C* has neglected it in favor of that chaotic Online. Now single player is buggy and crashes randomly during gameplay

Having just played through both Red Dead I and II, Mafia 3 and GTA IV in the past 2 months or so, switching back to GTA V for the first time in years is pretty brutal.

I have to say, this is not a good game. It is actually pretty hilariously bad.

Well first off, the three protagonists are utterly unlikable. I don't relate to them in any way and I find myself not rooting for these guys at all. One is a crazy maniac that has absolutely no remorse for the disgusting things he commits on a daily basis, one is a deluded hypocrite living in the past and the last one just doesn't care about anything or anyone. The best part of the game is easily the first 12 to 15 missions, up until the Jewel Store Job, where the game takes its time and the pacing feels great. But after that, it all falls apart real quick. Turns into straight up schlock. Between being errand boys for the FIB and listening to Trevor & Michael bicker for what seems like the last 30 missions of the game, it's a f*cking miracle that I managed to reach the end credits. I just wanted to stop playing on so many occasions. To this day, I still don't quite understand what they were thinking with that. Having Arthur and Dutch or Niko and Roman argue and go through their differences throughout the game is fine. There's a clear side for you to be on (the protagonist's). But when you make two of the main characters (that you control) clash and fight all the time, it makes you hate both of them.

Then, the map feels very ... off. There's no real sense of reward for exploring Southern San Andreas as you'd get in a RDR game. It's gigantic, yes. It's very well crafted, yes. The details in it are outstanding, yes. Unfortunately, it's just so goddamn empty. The game underutilized this enormous open-world that could and should have been filled to the brim with stuff to do, places to go in, etc. Instead, once you complete the main story line (that is already pretty bad) and the few side-quests available, you end up just being able to rampage really. That was fine in 2001 for GTA III but I expect a little better now.

Almost everything that was added to Online in terms of activities (such as selling drugs, weapons, cargo and more) is exactly what I want to see in a GTA single player. Being able to build your own criminal empire, take scores, etc. Instead, we get tennis, triathlons, golf, yoga. Unfortunately, GTA Online is built to siphon every last penny in my pocket, none of which Rockstar will ever be able to get their dirty lil hands on.

Anyway, I feel like I'm rambling on. TL;DR : GTA V is a game that had a ton of potential but to me, it's all glitters and no substance. Almost everything about it, from the physics to the characters to the map design to the storytelling to the core gameplay mechanics, is shallow and surface level. Sounds great, looks pretty good but it ain't no fun to play.

But that's just my opinion.

I think i used to be like "the clickbait type of guys suck" and I still do think they suck but I'm also not as annoyed by it? it's interesting how ravenous these dudes are for a piece of the absolutely absurd pie that is GTA:O players looking for info or content or whatever. What an insanely niche market to be aiming for

Just bought physical copy of GTA V premium edition for the PS4 just a few days ago. Mostly cause it was the same price as the standard version of GTA V on the PSN store which is $29.99. While the included items in the criminal enterprise pack is not the best least it's something I can start with until I can get better ones.

In my opinion I find GTA V single player has a good story and is fun to complete. As for the multiplayer part of the game I do enjoy playing it as long there are no trolls in that game session doing dumb stuff like spawning in stuff.

There been couple night's where I could not sleep cause it was too hot where I live. So I thought I would play GTA V online and do a bunker weapon run to make some money. In my game session there was only me and three other people. I completed my weapon run just fine without running in to any of the other people in the game session. Then maybe three mins passed and then I was kicked from the session by the other players.

The thing is I was minding my own business doing my own thing not bothering anyone else in the session. Makes me wonder why people abuse the kick option on multiplayer sessions and wonder if there is anything I can do about it.

It’s an okay game. Not horrible but not very good either. This game was good because it tried something new (three playable protagonists) which was great for most. But as for me, I prefer one protagonist so it didn’t do justice for me. I feel that the game downgraded in some ways. Like why can’t we enter bars, restaurants, Bahama Mamas, and my personal favourite Tequi-La-La? It makes no sense to make these detailed interiors if we are ONLY going to see them once or twice. It’s a waste of space if you ask me. Amongst other things. However it isn’t horrible. But I will say this... It gets boring fast. The story mode at least and the map.

Fair enough. I feel completely different. For me, GTA V was the most fun I had with a SP game in the last 10 years. I still think San Andreas is the best GTA, but that's mostly because of nostalgia. I couldn't even bring myself to finish IV. Mostly because of the map, it got so repetitive after a while. The story didn't really get me neither.

Anyway, I hope they can combine the best from all the previous games in GTA VI and really blow us away.
