Weird Main Menu Bug

So I load GTA okay, and it goes to the main menu. I can only load story mode. It says I have to complete the story mode tutorial but I already have a 100% save.

I can load into online once I have loaded into story mode but I can't load straight into online.

When I do load into online I have to accept this.

p.s. when I am online everything is okay. So I don't know why it's like this all the sudden.

First time that profile was used on that computer? That's intentional.

What do you mean?

I did have to reformat my hard drive.

But how can I tell it to go back to normal? It's annoying :(

Ahh that could be why, reformatting your drive does give your system a new Hardware ID (HWID) - but some more tech-savvy guys can correct me on that if I'm wrong.

As a result it'll recognise your system as not having accepted the policy. I believe the exact same thing that you've mentioned will happen if you attempt to use your account on a friends computer, or one that's never had your account played on it yet.

All you need to do is accept the policy, load into Online once and then back out and that message won't pop up again (unless as above).

it happens every time I load online.

BUT, I haven't tried leaving online and going back to the main menu.

I will attempt this:

If you're not playing through Steam, try this:

  1. Hit the Home key to bring up the Social Club Overlay.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Under "Profile" select Delete Local Profile.

  4. Click Confirm.

  5. Sign in again using your email and password for the Social Club account that activated GTA V.

Answer: This issue may be caused by a corrupt settings file. Deleting your settings file (pc_settings.bin) should resolve this issue: C:/Users/YourUsername/Documents/Rockstar Games/GTAV/Profiles/Profilename/pc_settings.bin. The next time the game launches, you may have to create settings once more, but a new settings file will be created retaining your preferences.

Alright got it fixed.

Deleted cloudsavedata.dat, chose to have save file and reset after saving once in game.

Glad you got it sorted. Amazing how easily stuff gets conflicted in this game.

I had the same problem, and fixed it a few days ago. you need to delete 2 files.

Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles\MYPROFILE\pc_settings.bin

Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles\MYPROFILE\cfg.dat

MYPROFILE = a number that corresponds with your account.

edit looks like you got it sorted before I answered next time ill read the whole thread lol this is the solution for the steam version if anyone else has the same problem.

I had no problems since so hopefully it should work for you.

Have you deleted anything else other than the 2 files I mentioned?

And if you load into story do you start at the prologue?
