Custom data inside dff files?

My question is simple:

Add a custom data inside dff file, and have access to this data by c++/scm/lua/whatever.

What custom data?

Any.

 

I think we can simply use RwAnalyze to add the data.

But how can I read this in-game?

 

I see many interesting things that can be done with it.

You have to write code to read that data and put it somewhere. Just adding it to the file isn't going to do anything.

The cleaner way would probably be to register a custom RW plugin with a stream read callback. I've implemented plugins for both versions of skygfx (see https://github.com/aap/skygfx_vc/blob/master/src/rwplugin.cppand https://github.com/aap/skygfx/blob/master/src/pipeplg.cpp ), but haven't had the need for a stream read callback yet. It's not hard to do however, see some RW code: https://github.com/GTAmodding/rw37/blob/master/src/world/baworobj.c#L2084 and then https://github.com/GTAmodding/rw37/blob/master/src/world/bamesh.c#L647 )

Whatever you are doing there, please don't forget to read and call previously injected function! (Or don't touch PluginAttach at all, because we're going to use it in plugin-sdk... later :p )
