Worth getting on PC?

I played hundreds of hours of GTA online on the PS3 and PS4, but have since moved on to PC, and have always wanted to try GTAV but I held off because I had heard lobbies were plagued with cheaters, modders and hackers which is leading to false bans. And if steam reviews are to be believed, this is still happening.

Is it better now, or will I be wasting my time with online?

It's not better, cheaters are still a plague on PC, almost in every public session you will find a cheater.

If playing on PC is a waste of time, that's a totally different matter, depends on your style. In my view it's not... obviously, since I play GTA:O on PC almost since its launch on PC and I'm still happy, got used to it.

Problem is you would have to start over again as they shut off the online data transfer a while ago and yeah hearing that theres still plenty of cheaters but not sure how bad it is.

Personaly I would avoid it.

If you have a good rig, it's worth buying it for PC. Smooth gameplay, 4x MSAA, taking screenies will be entertaining with 4k(or just DSR).

You can use thousands of cool mods in SP when you get bored of GTA:O :D

But as said before, you'd have to start completely from scratch again. And the cheaters will really get on your nerve at some point. There are times where you encounter one of those assholes in pretty much every lobby with more than 15 players.

Wow, I didn't know the transfer was ending, I would have done it a while ago. Didn't see any announcement about it or anything.

Though I seem to remember the transfers being a one time thing. So since I transferred from ps3-ps4, would I have even been able to do it again?

Even though you missed the final deadline to transfer, you could've only transfered your character data once; no need worrying about that.

I guess that's the problem. I quit playing the game, and stopped checking the updates because it seemed like everything was either snapmatic competitions I didn't care about or dumb gamemodes being talked about.

If you enjoyed it on console, you'll enjoy it on PC. The graphics are better, story mods are there if you like that too.

But to me, not enough to see me switch, not now with it resembling old gen for all the cheating. Rank/money manipulations and such, being forced to either do public businesses among genuine tools, or cheat the system and completely isolate yourself...

If, like old gen, the whole game was accessible from crew/invite sessions, definitely. But no, not now.

They'd have fixed it long ago if it could be, buy a shark card and have it stolen. Nope!.

(Not that I, or I expect you do/would buy cards, though no judgement at all here, point is, having cash taken, however it got there).

Yes, there are cheaters, but most of them have one braincell more than a chicken, and that one cell only prevents them from sh*tting on the floor. You can still get the Pc-version and enjoy it. There are many Pc-players that hide an actual human brain under they´re head skin. Get a few friends and have fun.

PC is better because you can ignore Online and have much more fun in SP :p

That's not even correct anyway - you could've gone from PS3 to PS4 and then from PS4 to PC, that was acceptable.

There is a modder / cheater in almost every busy lobby but not all of them are problematic...although things can get very frustrating if you get a run of lobbies where there is one dickhead modder who keeps exploding everyone or whatever. You will need to use 'find new session' quite frequently, or join a friendly crew.

You would be starting from scratch in a game that has been out a long time though. Going from level 1 with nothing to getting your hands on the good toys will take a lot of time or shark cards.

It is still a great game though.

Honestly, I'd pick up the PC version (on a sale) if you can run it and avoid online like the f*cking plague. Play some modded servers or what have you, experience the same content, get everything from the updates without waiting for dripfeeds, and no risk of a dork with a menu getting your characters deleted with a money drop.

Steam has it for half price right now

R* games only drop this low once every half a decade

That's not true. No one can force the game to ban you.

Mod menu users can ruin the gameplay in many ways and force you to restart the game in the end. But there are no long term consequences.

Also, it happens rarely.

Sometimes they can kick you from your own organization:

Keep in mind that if you are getting the game for the PvP purposes, there are much better and balanced options like PUBG.

Also, Escape from Tarkov coming in 2018. I would invest my time and money into something like this rather than GTA.

Graphics is ok, but it's obsolete even for the PC version. Water and post-processing effects are quite good on Ultra settings, but that's pretty much it. DO NOT buy the PC version only if you are interested in graphics.

Get GTA on PC if you like sociliazing, freeroaming, PVE missions and chaos :)

It's not easy to start from the scratch though. The good news - there is an unofficial multiplayer for GTA V PC made by modders. It's better for releplaying and doesn't require any Sharkcards.

Once per system, you could go ps3-ps4-pc no problem at all. Also because the PlayStation is now a PC, they should be backwards compatible next time out. You'll get your secure 60 frames on your ps4 account then.

Who are you trying to kid? You'll be rank 8000 with $5676575787686748 dollars before the end of your first session. Will probably lose it all and gain a -300 k/d ratio by the next one though.

I don't play any other games of that sort so I can't comment about 'balance' in PvP. However I think that if you want to get involved in a lot of free roam PvP then I think it is far more likely you will encounter cheats (and idiots) in general because for some reason these types are unable to play fairly. Yeah you can be peacefully minding your own business and someone starts something but if you are doing a lot of PvP it definitely puts a target on your back... as if somehow the cheats feel they have the right to 'police' the lobby!

But for everything else I agree with the above.

I would recommend getting the pc version but i dunno every time you join a session youre gonna hear sh*t like this

"omg kid im 24 years old get over here or i f*ck your dog"

"LOOOOOL i destroyed your cargo xdddd"

"modder?????????????????????"

I mean i have played on ps3 back in the day and there were people on voice chat just screaming and sh*t like that

But apart from that everything is okay (at least to me) i haven't seen a modder since Easter

Well, that's the difference.

Good PvP-oriented games actually force you to play fairly either by the in-game balancing or by the dedicated server rules.

In GTA you have to imagine rules yourself.

Personally, I do not mind playing Online, so long as you stay in private lobbies and muck around with your mates.

As for the SP modding scene, that is a laugh riot.

Did you know these random "modders/hackers/script kiddies" can even see your ISP and IP address and its location? That alone is a reason to avoid a game that is plagued with them as it's a security and safety concern for you and your family.

Dragon_Of_Tragedy

The only benefit from owning GTA 5 for the PC is making Rockstar editor videos for a YouTube channel.

You can simply slap together a video with some basic mods and get thousands if not millions of views. Better advantage than what console guys can do.

Plus, you can throw together a video showing off all the locked vehicles in the upcoming doomsday heist dlc and gain subs the lazy way.

I wouldn't play online on the PC version. Too much hacking and modders. You don't get that on consoles.
