BenMillard
When I first played GTA1 I was spellbound. My admiration for the game on which the community slowly began to build up in '98 I still retain today, along with my drive to contribute in any way I can to making the community better. For a few years I did this by making GTA1 cities for the community members to enjoy. With the advent of GTA3 I joined the "gtahqforums.com" site, where I spend a few months moderating because of my experience within the scene. That was going pretty sweetly, but as "gtaforums.com" had made staff out of the most presitigous community members (illspirit, stilton and so on) I saw that gtahqforums had no chance. So I left them and joiend the gtaforums. I found my new way to contribute as being through making handling setups for cars, and managed to be regarded widely as being the best at it and most dedicated. It was my dedication to the scene and utterly clean record that made the staff choose me in the batch of new moderators. It is this dedication that has led to making a common reference topic for members to use pinned at the top of all the forum areas I thought required it. It is my dedication which has led to me suggesting alternative arrangements for when Vice hits PC, for the modifcation areas to be easier to navigate, more intuitive and so on. However, it is also this dedication which has caused so much aggravation. Because I am unable to explain why this is, I can only arrive at the conclusion that I simply don't have the skills required to moderate a forum of this age group and this scale. Therefore I feel it is only in keeping with my dedication to keeping the community healthy that I retire from moderation and focus back on my modification projects. This is a decision that has been very hard for me to make. I was overjoyed when I received the news that I'd been chosen to moderate, I thought it an incredible honour. I have negelcted my college work, my freinds and caused many arguments with my parents because the GTA community is pretty much all I've ever had constant in my life. However, it seems by trying moderate the one thing I care for, I end up harming it. That is the one thing that I really don't want. And so I am resigning as a moderator. Datalord
Well part of me sees you happy, to resign and part of me feels guilty, maybe you can stick to modding the modding forum and like you said focus on what you enjoy best Help medical research with your PC and PS3 | Support GTAF Folding@Home |
Liar_Pantsonfire
Knuckle-Duzta that's very low to say, even though you might have personal differences with im, it's still low. Cerb has made a nice goodbye to moderating and you should leave it at that. Still good luck with the handling setups cerbera, hope it works out better eh
All_Vice_City
I never had a problem with you Cerb, and Im not happy that ur resigning from being a mod, but Im not sad either. Its probobly best for the forums anyways, since there were so many complaints. All_Vice_City gives Illy a 100 dollar bill So does this mean were going to have a new mod? Rufus
Um, hes still a mod you know. He hasn't had the powers removed yet. Anyway, I never really liked you Cerb, and you probably didn't like me as you don't know me, but I thought you did an ok job of moderating sometimes, but not so good other times. I disagree with starring MMMS even though I don't know the story so I will leave it at that and say have fun as a normal member again.
DAN_F83
What a bad day this has been. Two well established mods lost. One new psychotic one appointed. I don't think this is time to celebrate about Cerebra leaving or anything else. I think that Cerebra has done the right thing for the forums, even if it's not what he really wanted to do. I think that both MMMS + Cerebra deserve respect for showing true moderator sense, by stepping down to remove the stress from the forums. Hopefully they both will be happy to remain on at the forums, and even though there has been great loss, hopefully now things will get back to some sort of sanity. + this isn't the time to be appointing new mods - let things settle for god's sake
-ONYX-
Well done Cerbs.Although you are making a very bad decision IMO you are quite the nobleman. I franky would have kept them going for a far longer period of time but thats me. I hope they realise that WE WILL NOT BE FILLING THE SPACE LEFT BY CERBERA!! I am more than capable. HD Rick
However, it seems by trying moderate the one thing I care for, I end up harming it. That is the one thing that I really don't want. uzer
How did we get a noob for a mod?? Man there are plenty more respected better qualified members on these forums like Datalord or Chuck430 or Canderalli It's not about who the forumers respect. It's about the decision the site admins make about who they feel is best capable of running their site. Moderating is a job, not a popularity contest. After_Math
Well, this comment I'm about to make is probably going to have CaliGangstar riding my ass, but hell... Cerb, I was always there defending you, and we've been friends for a little while now. I don't quite know what to make of the situation, so i'll probably understand better once we talk on aim. Onyx...I haven't seen your rule or modding capablities, since it's your first day on the job. In light of those facts, I have no grounds to base any animosity on towards you. I guess I can only hope that you are half as intelligent as cerbera is, because you're gonna get a lot of sh*t about this. Cerbera hung in there for a few months, but that takes some balls. He spared us of flaming and screaming, and just spoke. I hope you can at least reason your way out of a situation...unless you cause a problem yourself. I really hope that doesn't happen...but eh? mike39
I don't mean to be harsh, but I think it was a mistake that you were modded in the first place. It would've saved everyone a heap of trouble, and I think that maybe the admins should be a little bit more careful and start choosing people that don't have the magical "old member mod power".
