Is the armour buffed? Also with the Hunter? I' am getting too many one hit deaths with these two lately..

Currently there's a glitch with armor upgrades on aircraft, that's why.

So the glitch is a one hit kill with any upgrade on aircraft?

No.

I don't think I've been one-shot killed in months in either of my Aku-la-las.

Most times after 1 or 2 hits I can still get back to Zancudo before it is destroyed.

Usually takes 3 or 4 to kill me.

Yes. But it seems that it doesn't affect everyone.

I've been hunting Deluxo griefers for fun and that element of surprise is just so useful. While I don't think stealth mode actually makes you invisible (haven't gotten the chance to test it with a friend), it does take your icon off the minimap, which is where I feel many of these trolls tend to tunnel vision.

^ I've started to use selective stealth - popping on and off the radar - to lure Deluxos in my direction and/or misdirect them once they give chase.

Another key tactic I've found in the Akula is flying low. You go off radar but you're not physically invisible. You can be seen against the backdrop of the clear blue skies by anyone who looks up in or other aerial vehicles. Staying low, using buildings and other clearings as cover and patience is key to maintain a low profile. There's been so many times players have passed right above me in dense, heated lobbies with no clue at all.

Just don't hit anything lol. Also, I've switched to Barrage Missles from the Homing. Makes hitting ground targets a breeze but the trade-off is that taking down aerial targets is a bit more challenging. Need more time.

I wish the Barrage Rockets were buffed, a volley of just 4 rockets is just too few IMO.

But when you fly low isn't it easier for other players to hear the Akula when they're near? I'm always worried of players hearing it, getting wary and looking for the heli.

@Der NordenYeah it's certainly possible, there was one instance where I was preying on a Deluxo on the rooftop of Tinsel Towers and I knew he could hear me. He kept moving around the building when I got too close, then I'd move to the other side, but eventually this little dance got old and I made my move regardless.

It's best to fly low to avoid detection when traveling across distances. But when you're waiting to pounce, it's ideal to be close but not right on top of them. Often times I'll be on the street over, a block over, or a nearby rooftop where I can watch what they're doing but still blend in. Just out of earshot where you wouldn't hear the blades or see me, but close enough to strike immediately.

Usually, I fly as fast as it can be, and at the lowest altitude possible, but when I’m about to kill, I either continue to fly low and quick, or I go straight above the target’s head if he is on foot.

And then wait for him to make a move before falling like a hammer on his trails (or drop a couple of bombs if he is on foot).

This pic was taken just a few minutes after I tested my Akula against some random guys in a public lobby. I liked it so I decided to share :)

iVxZYtJhm0Kia0nDV2Oe7A_0_0.jpg

Now, about my little adventure. Massive wall of text incoming I guess :D

Spoiler

I had started in a public, empty lobby thanks to the wonderful PS4 MTU trick, but for some reason today several people managed to get into my lobby. Initially, it was just me, a couple of friends doing Special Cargo work, and a couple of low levels which soon started fighting each other for some reason. So I ignored them. More people started to join rather quickly though, and soon there was about 11 people in the lobby, most fighting each other, joining the fight between the two low levels from earlier. I just kept doing my I/E work though, and filling the cooldown times with Headhunter and sourcing vehicles.

Things started when a level 21 player, the same who was fighting against others since he joined the session, put a bounty on me out of nowhere, and soon I was ambushed by the CEO player who tried to run me over but just clipped me. We killed each other at the same time after he got out of his car and kept on with our business haha :D

Later, some newbie around 220 levels below mine decided to defend the Headhunter targets, but then immediately left when I went OTR while heading to the target he was intending to defend. So far, so good.

Then, I remembered you guys from here and decided to put an idea to the test: Haulage on a public, agitated lobby! So I went to my MOC parked beside my apartment and picked the Phantom Custom, started the mission and went to the trailer. Predictably, as soon as I got the trailer, people went to me to try to take me down. One player, more specifically, the bodyguard of the same CEO who claimed the bounty put on me, tried to blow me up with a Hydra. He nailed several strafes but the truck's phenomenal resilience kept him from killing me. Soon a Deluxo player and a couple of others who didn't had weaponized vehicles joined to try to kill me just while I was heading from Vespucci Beach to the highway, but in the ensuing chaos the Hydra user blew up the other players trying to hit my truck, and then a war started between them, making the rest of my trip a breeze hahaha, and right on time, because the Phantom was starting to emit smoke already and wasn't going to last for much longer had the attack continued!

After that, I once again remembered something I wanted to test, this time it was the Akula's prowess in surprise attacks. The Haulage delivery point was on Fort Zancudo, so I just went to my hangar and took my chopper for a ride, with three targets on my sights: The level 21 guy who put the bounty on me, the Hydra user and the Deluxo driver who went after me. The Deluxo driver either left or got blended among the several fighting players, the level 21 had nowhere to hide because I had learned his gamer tag already, and the Hydra pilot crashed and was fighting with two other players he killed before.

I went after the Hydra pilot first but he was hiding at the foot of a hill behind some trees, so I aborted the attack before becoming too vulnerable and went after the low level, though while I was retreating the Hydra pilot left the session. The low level was still fighting others so I ended up killing two players chasing him by mistake and then getting him while he was trying to run

A few minutes later, the Hydra pilot came back to escort his friend while he delivered Special Cargo shipments. He was in a Deluxo, and as soon as I spotted him on the map I flew behind him and stalked for just long enough for him to enter my lock-on range. Stealth mode went off, 3 or 4 homing missiles were fired one after another and while he tried to evade, he was nailed by them just as I flew past him, turning his Deluxo into a fireball! :D After that I went away, leaving him alone since I wasn't intending to start a freeroam war. He surely got scared though, after he respawned his blip was spinning like crazy on the map, as he was trying to spot me hahaha 😁 Akula is indeed a wonderful machine if you use it right!

By the way, I left his friend alone. I know very well how much it sucks to lose your cargo haha, so in the end, he got his money while his bodyguard got paranoid 😁

For the helicopter that made all transport choppers, general aircraft and other attack vehicles completely pointless! :D

I won't lie that it's fun though. :)

Not true. Not even close.

Won't be  the end all to helis until I can carry a car with it and call it from the interaction menu. :p

Well, sure. We still have the Buzzard and Cargobob and so on. But I see no point in using the Maverick, Frogger, Swift, Havok, Annihilator, SuperVolitol, Volitus, Savage, Valkyrie and the majority of planes while owning this 4-seater stealth bomber gunship. 😛

Nope, it's automatically available all the time.

The reticle is crap though, it really could do with the Valkyrie's camera.

It's a bug currently ongoing with the ultralight as well. The aimpoint shows in the middle of both of those vehicles in third person. One of the things that I hope do get fixed with the next update.

Man, i am in a dillema here.

I have 6 million, and i'm waiting for the update next week.

But the akula is discounted and i don't have a attack helicopter whatsoever.

I though, like russian or soviet vehicles, so i want to start a collection of military vehicles based on russian designs, starting with helicopters.

So i really want to know if the akula or savage are worth a buy or i should wait for the update and don't spend my money.

What you guys reccomend ? (thanks for the help)

They're both good helicopters, but with very different uses.

Savage (along with its crew-served American counterpart, the Hunter) are more suitable for direct confrontations. Go in loud, kill everyone, then keep killing everyone until someone eventually gets you. Compared to the Hunter, the Savage is less durable and lacks countermeasures (but currently benefits from a glitched lock-on location), has a less flexible gun, but makes up for it in raw firepower (Hunter's gun has poor TTK against armored targets) and simplicity to use (no gunner required).

Akula is a stealth helicopter suited for patient, surgical strikes. Wait for your mark to drop your guard, swoop and and make a quick surprise kill, get back into stealth and flee the scene before he respawns, wait for his paranoia to fade, and do it all over again.

The Akula has an additional utility where you can hide all hand-carried freeroam cargo from the radar indefinitely, as long as the carrier is on a stealth mode Akula.

You should get a buzzard first if you do any CEO stuff. Then an Akula for VIP, hanger work etc.

Do not buy the Akula after the After Hours update; the homing missiles are broken and will not lock onto anything. Additionally, some players are reporting that the stealth functions aren’t working anymore, although the issue seems inconsistent.

We have to tell them.

We know they listen... everyone is affected by this glitch which breaks the whole chopper, so, let’s go with support tickets !

I was wondering why this bug wasn't affecting my Akula; turns out it was because I kept the stock passenger gun.

It's the dual primary gun that breaks it, switch to single.

Annoying spending money to fix their f*ckup but at least the solution is simple. Probably won't even bother going back to the dual guns when they finally fix the issue tbqh.

Nnfirst you pay 300k to get the dual gun, then they screw up so you have to switch back to single gun, is 7000 and when thet fix it you must pay again 300k too get the dual gun again. Thats over 600k they steal

* x2 on both my characters is have the akula, so its over 1.2 m total

Tried it, still prefer homing rockets since basic bombs do a good job filling in when unguided ordnance is called for.
