rlk232
I use race handling but I only use engine level 2 or something, otherwise it auto climbs and annoys the crap out of me I've been having this problem too. I don't use it for evading missiles, I hate free roam, but it's tough to use in missions because you can easily clip things.

The First Hunter
I'm slowly gravitating towards being an Akula fan rather than a Hunter fan lol. Last night i got in a lobby with 3 others, this dude was selling his bunker stock so i went to do my own stuff. Went to sell my bunker stock (Insurgent 5 drop offs) then the douche who sold his own stock came after me in a hydra, i had delivered 2 before he got his hydra, popped Ghost Org for the rest of them and did them in a rush. When the mission was over, got my Akula and went on stalking this douche. He and his friend got in his Avenger 3 times but every time i disabled the avenger. Then they got in a Deluxo searching around the city for me, killed them again (Totally worth the 20k insurance) Got a few (1v1 me scrub etc) messages from him which i ignored. Then he stood in the middle of a very open area with his friend, looking around in the sky to find me. I gained a lot of altitude, then dropped a bomb when i was exactly on top of them and got two kills (Very surprised, i thought bombs disappear after a certain height.) Then his friend left and he hid in his bunker. Edited January 22, 2018 by The First Hunter R3CON, BJBooBoo, Uncle-Elroy and 3 others
Piro
I'm slowly gravitating towards being an Akula fan rather than a Hunter fan lol. Why not both? Well those are two different approaches. It's Rambo vs Sam Fisher. Both are useful. Akula for sneaking, Hunter for hunting grifers (best thing against oppressors/deluxos rockets) MaxBazooka01 and IamCourtney

I can traumatise lobbies in this like in nothing else, sure it takes a while but if I'm sitting down for a couple of hours to play then I can take my time in tormenting people. I don't get killed in it for days sometimes. Edited January 22, 2018 by elfoam
delorianlazarus
^ Most of the times I'm being countered is because I go greedy or too confident on some kills... Patience and observation are the best way to go if you want to get some blood without being exposed.
secrecy274
Here's a small pro tip. The Akula is not, I repeat, not silent. It might be off-radar, but it's still a helicopter. Lester even says as much during the Setup with it.
delorianlazarus
I totally agree with you. But players (especially newer ones) rely mostly on the radar. I even got locked once without being shot, just because the guy, as he told me later, thought I was one of the NPC choppers you can see around Vinewood hills (a Maverick spawns and flies by here, I think). So, even if it looks like a chopper, even if it sounds like a chopper, even if it shoots missiles like a chopper, most players will still confuse you with a pineapple and forget about you since they don't see 4 spinning blades on the radar. And I wouldn't call that a "pro tip" tbh - Its literally just having a sense of sound and being aware that other people have it as well. gtafan26

Not even you yet know that Akula has its own unique icon on radar:). The radar blip is even more unique when you go stealth Last night was another confirmation players use mostly minimap to look for enemies, I landed a few meters behind someone, left the Akula, and shot him on foot : he saw my player blip appear and disappear as I climbed back in the Akula, and said some non sense about hacking and teleporting. No matter how loud or big you are, lots won't even notice you because the minimap is seen as some all-sentient and fool-proof advisor. There is a very, very BIG bunch of players who can't go from A to B without GPS in this game. So if you ask them to stop looking at the minimap and use their eyes to look at their environment, they will end driving in circles around the runways of LSIA without finding the exit. Since you don't appear on the minimap with the Akula, some will see you with their eyes eventually if they ever stop staring at the minimap, but they will probably put you in the scenery/NPC/prop category...... ....which is great news

Other than it being a joke, how exactly do you put the Akula in the SVW?no, it is not a joke. There was a previous glitch a couple weeks ago that allowed you to swap your last used PV into your facility, so if you did it once you could move an Akula (last PV) into your facility, then do it again with a Phantom Wedge (last used PV) and swap it with the Akula in your facility. Every time I call for my Phantom Wedge it spawns my personal Akula.

Dr.Rosenthal
This thing is a beast, truly, BUT yesterday had me using foul language because of the damn non-existent non-homing missile alternative. Some guy on foot messing with me and my mate, I was going to surprise attack him but since there were cops around I couldn't get a shot. So f*cking annoying. I had just manually aimed at him and pressed fire, but oh no, all of a sudden I'm locked onto some cop car, so I missed, and he could shoot at me however much he wanted. Is there any viable strategy to this because in my opinion this takes away half of the enjoyment of flying this thing? I'm also not much for surprise attacking others. At those times this chopper makes racking up kills super-easy. But I want to use this in hairy situations, primarily to retaliate and not being the first aggressor. I'm better off using the old Buzzard in these cases as it is now, at least with that machine I know that my missiles will hit the spot I'm aiming at.
