VC Map Fixes

Description

Whenever I was going to Starfish Island from Washington Beach I had to see this see-through roof of Diaz' Mansion.

All of Vice City is filled with this type of unfinished objects, which break my heart and make the beautiful city uglier.

All these mishaps probably come from the fact that GTA Vice City was done in just a year and the guys from R* didn't have time to polish the map up.

Lately I finally had a bit of free time, so I started repairing what Rockstar forgot about 15 years ago.

 

This mod contains about 540 fixed .dff objects and 250 new .col objects.
The seabed has been refitted to the city borders and expanded further than the map. I also added a collision to it, thanks to this boats won't just disappear upon sinking, but will remain at the bottom.
This is the final version but it's likely there may be updates in the future.
I started working on this mod while working on another project, which will be closely connected to this one.

-Fixed the interior appearance from the outside in all places
-Increased the render distance of some objects
-Fixed the placement of some .ipl objects

Nice work! Maybe you could work with the VC:Leftovers mod crew? Seeing how your goal is about the same :)

I noticed that in their modification they don't have some fixed objects that are in my modification and if they would like to use these objects it would be great.

Would indeed be nice to have 1 modification that fixes the full map so there's not going to be incompatibilities or overlapping partial fixes.

Not sure why this mod hasn't been getting much attention, but it's definitely a sort of object hotfix for the game. Good work mate. This helps to make the map somewhat more perfect.

It is compatible with PS2 Feels? Answering to myself but I suppose that mixing both in modloader should work.

Some of the before/after picutres are like these find-the-5-differences games. I can proudly say that I found all of them... ;)

 

Awesome that you managed to find and fix all these little bugs. Must have taken a lot of time.

 

Have you included the map fixes from Silent patch in your IPLs?

Its not compatible with VCLF. I replaced all files exist in the VCLF with vc map fixes. So game is crashing on loading screen

Great mod but it should be mentioned it also need "modloader" to work.

what's missing here? Everything else works fine though [vice point supermarket windows appear like they should]

 

I'm only using niltwill's improved scm mod and a few vehicle mods on a backup copy of VC

Hm... I'll try to find .dff and .txd files, like build01.dff, or other files from mansion.ipl. But please, make more screenshots. I don't know where the bug occurs, but I think it's the back of Diaz's mansion... Maybe mansion1b.dff? I'm waiting for more screenshots :D

 

EDIT: I found this part of mansion in KeD Editor (Moo Mapper). Maybe it's build03.dff. Try to add this file from your GTA VC gta3.img copy to the original (modded, gta3.img that contains Map Fixes mod) gta3.img file. Just add build03.dff from gta3.img backup into modded gta3.img. Or first delete build03.dff from modded gta3.img and then add build03.dff backup. Rember to rebuild archive after this. And sorry if you don't understand something.

uh, its clearly the back of diaz's mansion looking out towards vice beach where the seasparrow spawns later on.

 

man_build03.dff is definitely the problem model. 

 

I've tried this both in modloader and replacing the file in GTA3IMG with IMGFactory and it shows up the same way

Looks cash! The construction site not displaying the proper damage always bothered me.

This grass ramp near the hospital has some sort of step at roughly the marked part. Vehicles crash to it when you try to drive up it.

What's with this weird z-fighting on the back of the mansion? Only happens with this mod.

Some files from VCLF may be compatible with this mod. But .IPL or .dff files that are mixed up will crash your game. I'm installing some files from VCLF, some from VC Map Fixes and all files from Vice City: BETA. And I'm installing them manually. So, to install new building or replace some buildings, I'm adding files to GTA3.img using IMG TOOL 2.0 and I'm always finding an bug, so then I must go to data/maps/...and after one hour it's done (without bugs it takes 10 minutes)... It's very hard, but possible. Very hard, because img tool is weird and sometimes KeD or MeD (Map Editor) is crashing.

Can't you just use modloader? Why bother installing them manually, seems like that takes forever.

Ugh... Shell32.dll on my computer is broken for some reason, and when I'm trying to run ultimate Asi loader for any GTA game, then I see crash. And this error is about shell32.dll. I have backup of GTA VC folder (if I broke the game after installing something manually). It's taking a lot of time, but I like this. I'm from Poland and now I have summer... So, if I'm bored, then I try to complete installation of these mods. I know, I'm weird :D
