Speedometer stops at 120MPH?

Hey my dudes, is it just me or do all speedometers no matter what vehicle

You are driving? If so, why is this?

Is there some valid reason?

Lag reduction, syncing issues, size of the map, pop-up. Take your pick :)

Don't forget this is essentially still a LG game with some walls bashed down.

The Vigilante will do 150 btw, and a Gargoyle with the 'web' rear wheel pulling a wheelie even faster. If you feel the need...

Damn I miss my RE-7B :/

no matter what vehicle

You haven't tested nearly enough vehicles then. Try in a Z-Type or a B-Type (oops, Roosevelt or Roosevelt Valor) and you'll see the speedo doesn't go above 80 - yet the Z-Type is one of the faster cars in the game.

The Oppressor has a digital speedometer - which are accurate to the vehicle's speed in game - and that can be seen getting up to and over 150 mph with boosts and wheelies. The Pfister 811 should also reach speeds around 130mph - but that uses the less-than-useful analogue speedometer. On PC it'll get up to 180mph or more.

The in-game speedometers actually stop at 180mph.

Most speed limits for most vehicles hit 80, 100, 120, 130 and 150mph. As Gaffa mentioned, digital speedos only go up to 180mph (can be seen in races such as the Plummet series).

Generally the speed you are going doesn't match the speedo. One example would be the Kuruma; speedo limits to 80 at full throttle. The Khamelion also limits at 80 yet the Kuruma is considerably faster.

It really is a big flaw with GTA however, in a way, its understandable seeing that GTA was built around LG technology.

I find this really weird because the game have a accurate way of measuring your speed (like in the freeroam speed challenges, a speedometer pops up) yet they didnt trouble themselves to sync that with the cars' speedometers. Im not a game programmer but I think this should have been very simple to do. I dont think they will ever fix that though
