Many people wrote the game off on release due to isometric view and anime style graphics, but underneath that lies quite an interesting and well thought out game. The 2.5D camera view takes a bit of time to get used to, I'll give you that, but overall, the story and gameplay makes me return to the game a lot. I refuse to believe that was Vic in the opening scene as much as I don't believe Ryder is an antagonist in SA. 🕊 Posted November 15, 2017 Share Posted November 15, 2017 After Chinatown Wars, since that's been covered, i think III has been overshadowed by later games, but did lots of things i prefer to later games. Some of the following: looser mission requirements, more violent or crapsack world, smaller feeling (radio music is not popular music and characters aren't big personalities), and there's no moral story in the plot, it's just a dumb "action movie" kind of game with no sympathy required. (Vice City got 3/4 of those things, i think, but eh, everyone loves Tommy and i didn't like the map so much.) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When it comes to EFLC, TBOGT always seems to get the glory, but IMO TLAD was/is a far better fit for the game world GTA IV created. Johnny's a brilliant protagonist and honestly it's the only GTA game where it feels like I'm not just another gang member, but as part of a brotherhood. Even though I do prefer TLAD to TBOGT, I can't stand to play TLAD after beating the story because The clubhouse burns down and you lose the ability to save there and use all its unique (?) games and other things it has inside including spending time with your fellow brothers, a feature I think made the pre-final mission game amazing. It's one of those things that it made for an entertaining story but hampered the game for me a little bit. Timcatgt5 Posted November 18, 2017 Share Posted November 18, 2017 GTA Chinatown Wars. The only game where I can: Drive a BP Bus (police can't shoot me and I could run over people if I wanted to). A BP Limo (drive in style and comfort and not get shot at). And a BP Style SR (allows very fast travelling and of course, not get shot at) And best of all, I can play this game on the go.
