Using timers for making money?

Yes, I used to use timers. I don't anymore. I stopped grinding this game, it's not fun.

I used a timer, its the cool down to call in a dupe after I just sold two back to back....lol. I could never imagine using a timer to ensure I make the most fake money possible.

I have done some pretty rigorous grinding for things including money. Including staying on up all night to do ensure I get the most glitched vehicles before a patch or even log on just to sell a car so as to beat the in game timer. I have also shamelessly grinded for useless things such as the gold throphy, alien supply mission, and 45° stunt race to get a positive record.

Why are you watching netflix when you're on GTA?

The real question is why not?

I tried watching movies while playing games in the past, but it didn't work well. I have to agree with Diana on this. You attention is divided and you are missing a lot of the movie details - you are missing the experience.

This sort of multitasking only suits for media that has a very simple plot, badly performed and don't have any spectacular scenes. The question is why watch these movies / shows in the first place?

It just doesn't work for me.

However, the audio content perfectly suits the gaming. If you have this 20 minutes grindy selling mission, you can complete a podcast or a book chapter. Same works for any slow paced gaming activity that doesn't require undivided attention (like building settlements in Fallout)

Right, I'll be going off-topic a little bit. I mean, kinda. It ties in with timers in some way.

Totally agree with you on podcasts, used to listen to those a lot while grinding crates. The "issue" that I have is that I don't grind as often as I used to. I still do but not as much. I also agree that watching captivating shows is near impossible as you don't want to miss anything. If you focus on the show you miss a turn while driving in GTA or you die a few more times than you'd like. That's why I go for documentaries and cop shows. It's easy to watch, entertaining even at glimpses and there's nothing worth rewinding for if you miss a part. It could fit in your "simple plot" point but I enjoy those shows where it's not scripted/actors - basically not a typical TV show. This is gonna sound weird but one of my favorite GTA:O memories is farming crates with a friend while we watched anything from Jackass movies to various documentaries about framing killers ("Making A Murderer" is great, totally recommend it). It's weird that one of my favorite memories is farming dull crates but it just sticks out for me, mostly because I could game and have some entertainment on the side.

It really comes down to what you want to do. I'm all for eye-catching action with explosions that would make Michael Bay turn his pants color white but I also like sitting back, watching some Netflix while doing minimum work to make money in GTA. May it be crates or biker business' I can focus on the show when flying to the drop off point but focus on the game when I need to shoot some bad guys. It also helps that I lag my own lobby so no one disturbs me/I accidentally lock onto someone and shoot them down. It also helps that it's very difficult for me to sit down and just watch a show or a movie. In the past, I'd say, two years anything that I've watched on Netflix was 80% accompanied by some gaming in the background. Unless it's a good show like Stranger Things where I just watch it. I get it's not for everyone but with how mundane farming can get and for those that do farm having that side entertainment is like having an ice pack on a sore muscle. And yes, farming in GTA is boring and yes, people will tell me to stop farming if it's not fun. I do want to farm, that's the weirdest bit. Call it routine. I like routines.

I will wrap this post up by saying this is only good for doing farming where you kind of move automatically. I noted this in my first post as it discusses VIP timers, hence VIP Work/crate farming or I/E sales (which take like 3-7 minutes). I couldn't head into freeroam wanting to have fun while having Netflix in the background.

Background music when I'm alone/off mic, 100%. Like you said, podcasts, books, even minutes from work, lol...

The radio gets tale after long.

@ livejoker... I can dig that. One time I watched/had Only fools and horses on in the background for a few sessions of crates, nearing my 1000th. And like you said, it's simple stuff that for me, as I've seen them 1000's of times, I know what's going on, just something to stare at in between really.

That, and when the front room TV is turned up when the family are watching (I'm in the dining room, but the door is between the 2 rooms) I often shout through answers to the chase or something, lol...

I don't use any timers as suggested here. Usually my routine takes care of it so I don't pay that close attention to it. However whenever I'm at my bunker, (farmhouse) I do check the game time to see if there is a sandking available. Since the Gunrunning update I have been poaching these all the time. They cover my bunker costs or pay for a set of crates. A convenient perk for the farmhouse location.

Isn't the worst idea. Just saying.

I don't do this simply because I'm too lazy to set alarms for a game while I'm busy working on different sh*t lol

No, though I remember one time used to time how quick I could get 100, 200k in about a gaming session. Nowadays I couldn't even bother.

I would seriously quit gaming if i had to start timing anything. Always hated time related things in gaming as it is. If there is a time limit, i hate it.
