The New Aircraft Is Way Overpriced...

I think rockstar has found the golden goose now. The Lazer will be over double the hydra, which is arguably equally effective, the Hunter will be over twice the Savage costs et al. I legit accidentally bought the Mogul and was going to sell it back, taking the loss, until I saw it had Jato. It ended up running me like 4-5mill. R* figured that we would never spend that on cars, so they nailed most of us hook, line and sinker with air vehicles. Add the hangar and all the aircraft w upgrades etc, I've spent $35m. And to top it all off, no good double money this week imo.

Cut the damned prices. They are being amazingly greedy, even for them. I'm not touching another aircraft at prices like these. I will wait for a sale on the hunter, hopefully by Xmas. Who is with me?!

Not me, lol. I'm buying two of them right out of the gate. One's gonna have chaff and ordinary bombs; the other will have flares and gas bombs. I might buy more as time goes by if I can afford them.

Anyway, I'll take expensive aircraft over no aircraft at all. Which is what we had for years, at least in terms of attack aircraft.

Aircraft are expensive anyway. A real Apache is tens of millions. At least we're not fast-tracking research for them. Plus you get what you pay for with the Hunter. Savage takes 3/4 explosive sniper rounds; Hunter takes 7. Hunter has built in countermeasures; Savage doesn't.

(Sorry Savage, still love you).

I'm afraid I can't do that.

I accept that planes are logically more expensive than cars (even Supercars and weaponized vehicles), so the pricing of them in this update, while expensive isn't horribly unjustified (unlike the Deluxe/gold aircraft).

My bigger issue is that they put the least-profitable business model ever into this update with it. While there's no sourcing cost (crates and supplies for Biker/Bunker) and no risk of raids, the time it takes and the pay scale is terrible and they did their best to make it impossible to solo without actually requiring you to have an associate or two already hired before letting you sell.

I've been picking and choosing the vehicles from this update

Must Own / Own if on sale / Not interested

  • Alpha-Z1: Interesting but not enough for me
  • Grotti Visione: Boring and I need fewer dust-collecting Supers, not more
  • LF-22 Starling: Historical and can be a air-to-air combat champ, but too expensive for what amounts to limited use for me. It's more like a better-gliding Oppressor without physics-busting missiles
  • Tula: Immediately bought it (accidentally bought it at full price, too!) Relaxing goes-everywhere plane. Great liveries
  • Havock: Too small, weird, and I hate the broken one that HAS to be in my hangar
  • Ultralight: Bought it on sale only because of the natural off-radar option (that doubled the sale price). Unfortunately, using it is like using the Oppressor in freeroam and EVERYONE in the lobby assumes you're up to no good and will attack you even if you're not bothering them
  • Molotok: Again, interesting, but doesn't do much that my Hydra doesn't
  • Retinue: Some people have an emotional attachment for old Escorts, but I don't. Looks like it could have been part of I'm Not a Hipster
  • Rogue: Capable modern prop fighter, but not enough for me to care
  • Howard NX-25: Arguably the most real-world-accurate vehicle in the GTA universe. Beautiful as well. Belongs in the museum lights of my hangar
  • Pyro : I mostly like it, but disliked it in the Adv Mode. Has an arctic-warfare livery, so if it goes on sale before the snows I'll get one
  • Rapid GT Classic: Pass.
  • Mogul: Not the most practical, but it's the one real bomber in GTAO (other than the flying glacier/whale Bombushka). Great liveries, too. It had me at "Dorsal Turret" (But F-you, Rockstar, for giving it only one gun in the turret and making us buy the other one)
  • Nakota: I want to love it, but I only like it. If it goes on sale and I can Gun-Run another 3 million I'll probably buy one early in the morning when I have less willpower
  • Seabreeze: This was actually UNDERPRICED!. A odd-looking fun flyer that also bombs and can dive under the water... for less than $1M... and cool liveries. Thanks, Rockstar!
  • Vigilante: The Runiner 2000 and Rocket Voltic had a wild night and their child was raised by a F/A-117 and a Tractor Pull vehicle. It's fun and fairly practical, despite being slightly ridiculous.
  • Bombushka: Flight Captain Big McLargehuge says it's "too big". Accelerates (without the JATO) like the BF Surfer, and when solo it's even more defenseless. Also takes up half a hangar and all for a giant pile of cash? No thanks!
  • Lazer: My hangar is surrounded by them; and for $5000, $400, or zero (and a slight inconvenience) I can have one. I have a Hydra already, so why buy one for over $6M? To paint it? Hell no!
  • Hunter: Not gonna lie; I'm unimpressed with the mission version. The owned version is supposed to be much better, but even if true, it's pricey to buy instead of several other aircraft I already own, that combined, can do the same thing. If it's on sale, I'll probably buy.

Nope, I wont do that, I'm going to buy both the hunter and the lazer as soon as they release. A fully upgraded tradeprice hunter is about 4 Million, P996 Lazer is 6,5 Million, so that 10,5 Million out of my bank account.

I can live with that, especialy since their anti cheat can go haywire again and remove legit money with the next dlc.

Meh...for me it's buyer beware...just because something is expensive doesn't mean it's good...looking at you bombushka.

Seriously, if you are low on cash wait for things to go on sale.

Hunter immediately for me. San An memories and all...

The rest, well, for the flying I do, no rush. The new planes I can use during the 50-odd source missions I gotta do for the trade prices.

Will get 'em eventually mind you, just no rush.

Lazer probably before the other stuff though.

Sorry but I think I have 9 or 10 Helis already and I barely use the savage as is. I'd prefer another VTOL.

Considering that we have silly super cars that cost 2-3m I would say that aircrafts are not overpriced.

Not counting the lazer jet ofc. 6 millions for 4y old jet? just so you can paint it? Thats just R* checking out how much can they squeeze out of people / easy way for tracking accounts with modded money.

Well, 6.5 million for the Lazer I find it very fair. I always said that if they put it on sale, it should cost double the price of Hydra. He is and remains the king of skies.

Lombank tower -> rooftop -> call Lazer personal vehicle -> jump to the beach -> get the lazer with thermal vision -> activate Headhunter -> PARTY!!!

The Wandering Hunter

the aircraft are priced pretty strangely. some are reasonable like the rogue and some are just rediculous (laser, bombuska)

the laser really isn't king of the skies. there are a bunch of planes that can beat it and it goes down in 1 explosive shot to the tail. the hydra is more useful vs ground targets because of vtol.

Just noticed your spoiler with some info, thanks for that as I'm on the fence with a lot (having just started the hanger stuff), so all and any info is good for me, lol...

I must disagree with you over the 'no source cost'... As I feel it's there still.

With crates, we pay, then source... Getting 100% of the payment.

With Hangers, we pay Ron's cut after the sale...

Either way, R* get's theirs I'm afraid. Again, agree it's not financially great, especially for me lone wolfing it out there ATM. But the jobs are fun...

The needed amount for trade prices is enough though, and I'll only sell 1 load probably too... I'll stick with the other businesses after, but the December stuff isn't too far off so hopefully I'll get a cool DLC this year (cars aside, the classics particularly have had a good run, IMO).
