RDR2 Enhanced for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro?

Neither, consoles are 60Hz, so set your TV to display the pure signal either by setting it as a PC (usually under the label section), this will also net you 4:4:4 chroma subsampling (which helps with clarity), and using the TVs game mode if it has one. DO Not fall for that bs about 100Hz, 200Hz, 600Hz, etc, the screens do NOT refresh at this rate, instead the image is heavily delayed and then processed which yes, increases input latency by an extreme amount. HDTV panels are 60Hz no matter where they are (in EU they'll be shown as 50Hz due to electrical standards but the screen itself is still 60Hz).

thanks for the clarification! Good to know that it isn't the number of hz. About the game mode. I don't like it on my tv. Makes it worse (less colors more picture noise . I will look up where I can find the option to display the pure signal!

Just noticed this bit from the PlayStation Blog article announcing the 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro:

Quote

Since its launch back in 2016, our portfolio of PS4 Pro supported content has continued to grow, truly showcasing the power of 4K TV gaming, HDR, and more. This year has been packed with even more incredible PS4 Pro enhanced games, like Detroit: Become Human, God of War and Monster Hunter: World. And we couldn’t be more excited for upcoming enhanced games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Nothing we didn't know already, but it sure is sexy to see in writing.

I've had the base Xbox One since the launch...it's about time haha!

Just a heads up... Gamestop is doing a promo if you trade in an original xbone you get $200 toward X, and an Xbone S gets you $250 off until i believe August 28th.

BUT THE BENZ

not gonna change mah system...not gonna double dip. if they again decide cut CONTENT, then f*ck it. they can't pull the same sh*t again, "not enough power on old consoles" etc..."thus we cut half the radio and tons of sh*t from it"

Im sure Xbox will look better but Ps4 will still look amazing so I'm still happy

PS4 Pro will probably look better since Rockstar have partnered with Sony, and GTA V enhanced looks better on PS4 than on Xbox One

There's a small difference in grass. The rest is identical. Feel free to correct me though.

I have GTA on both. Played through both versions a lot, (Xbox One MP, PS4 SP) and there are a few minor things I noticed right away when switching to the Xbox version to play with some friends the last few weeks. For one thing, when I load into SP, the world takes a good few seconds to load around me, but this could be from recent updates? It wasn't doing that the first few days. When I click to open my phone I'd argue it takes twice as long for it to pop up on screen, same with the inventory. There is less grass, but it's more obvious in the city than the countryside. Hey, I can't think of anything else actually.

The game can still generally look great for a 5 year old game. Though I am getting sick of the world loading around me every time I load the game up, but I wonder if it was the Nightclub DLC. IDK if it will do that on a brand new save, or after a cleaned cache.

I think the shaders are a bit better on PS4, at least I've heard so in a video I watched.

Again, GTAV was never patched with Pro/X support, you're still getting the base versions.

With RDR2 you'll most likely see the versions go like this...

Xbox One X > PS4 Pro > PS4 > Xbox One

In terms of better to worse.

I give a **** where it has 1 or 2 FPS more (maybe on the xBo One X) or a little bit more farsightedness.

I play it on Playstation because it has more exklusiv Games and thats why i have one^^ And i have a lot PS+ games and dont want to switch to the xBox One.

I think its play very good on all 4 consoles.

Well now that you bring that up doesn't that mean rdr 2 will also be lacking in some feature such as grass? Cause what? An Xbox one x isn't going to add in the grass. At least I don't think that's how it works. I'm only saying that due to the fact wouldn't the base level Xbox one old the x back in this. Idk how all this stuff work so I thought I'd throw it out there. So if anyone knows.

No the Xbox One X will be the best version. Developers scale the game on all platforms.

So then if the x was around back then than GTA V wouldn't have been the lesser version (except on the base hardware), but because they scale to each platform the x is automatically the best version even if the base hardware isn't as strong? I just want to make sure I understand you correctly. I find this sorta fascinating.

Isn’t their partnership limited to “select online content”? aka a t-shirt?

No, GTA 5 in general has more improved/enhanced shaders on PS4(Pro) than on Xbox One(X).

Stop spreading bullsh*t buddy, as already stated, there is no Pro/X version of GTAV. Yes it looks better on PS4 because out of the two versions (PS4 and XBO) the PS4 was the better version.

I put it in brackets which means it may or may not be on PS4 Pro.

PS4 is graphically the slightly better version than Xbox One.

So what is conclusion for those like me who are not tech savvy? Is it worth it trading PS4 for PS4 Plus or not when it comes to RDR2?

What is your TV? If 4k, then Yes, If not, ask yourself if improved AA is worth that much.

Sony's partnered with Capcom on Monster Hunter World, still looks better on Xbox One X.

Make no mistake, for both game, they only paid for the right to advertise the game.

It's entirely possible PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions will also feature improved texture filtering, textures in higher resolution, better draw distance, higher and more stable framerate or, looking at XO/PS4 GTA V ports, higher foliage density.

Whether, if it happens, it's enough to justify upgrading from PS4 to PS4 Pro is a personal matter. I feel PS4 version will be absolutely fine, but I definitely would upgrade to Xbox One X from base Xbone, because that's where the most sacrifices and cuts will be made.

Got a question about the pro. For all 1080p hdtv enhanced games does it tell you when it automatically does it in game? How do you know when a game is automatically enhanced and when you should be using the supersampling option in ps4 menu?

Reason why I was thinking of getting Pro is because I am little bit limited with 500GB. Plus, if there are any performance improvments, that's a bonus. However,  if PS5 is coming out in a year or so, then getting PS4 Pro doesn't make much sense.

I've had my Xbox One X for around a month now, going from  the base Xbox One...playing games like BF1 (which looked very washed out on the base) even the 4K update for Red Dead Redemption on my 1080p monitor looks unreal.

I will eventually upgrade to a 4K monitor since i play a lot of PC games also.

I currently have a normal xbox one and a TV that does not support 4k. I really want the best possible experience for RDR 2, haven't been this hyped for a game in over 10 years, but it is a huge investment and I'm really not sure if it is worth it. Also none of us obviously knows how big the difference is going to be yet either.

The game is going to look good on your setup. Unless you do a side by side comparison, you won't realize you're missing anything. It's not like going from SD to HD.

If it's PS4 Pro enhanced with all the bells and whistles then usually there are specific options in the game's menu settings to favor either resolution or performance. If you enable Supersampling on your PS4 then you get a pop up when the game is started telling you it's activated and supported.

There's also a Boost option in the PS4 settings that helps boost the performance of older games too.
