RDR2 Enhanced for Xbox One X and PS4 Pro?

30FPS steady on RDR2 would be nice.

GTAV is also famous for NOT getting an optimised patch for Pro/X.

That's something completely different from my initial point, however. They probably didn't bother.

It's bad now, but wasn't it basically perfect at release? I mean November 2014. The performance went to sh*t with the Online updates. Also, I'm almost sure they learned some things either way...

With FPS drops i mean from 30FPS to 28, 27, 26 and not "really" down to 15-20FPS. I hope Rockstar did their best for the performance.

How do you think the game will hold up on a base Xbox One? In terms of texture quality and all that.

Digital Foundry have done an analysis of the trailer. If you can't look at it right now, they have analysed the trailer to be running at 1920x2160 on the Pro. They do a tiny bit of speculation on the possibility of extra graphical effects with the GPU overhead left if the resolution is final for the Pro, and if the base PS4 runs at full HD 1920x1080.

which is essentially 1920x2160 combined with algorithm upscaling,

Would you look at that.

Still debating whether to upgrade to the Pro. If I do, I'll probably wait until closer to release. But why are so many online retailers sold out of them? Meanwhile, all these third party sellers are trying to get $500+ for a $400 console. At any rate, for anyone interested it looks like Gamestop has them in stock (unless it's a mistake, it lets you add it to your cart anyway).

You guys have me worried. Do you think it will be significantly worse on the base Xbox one?

No, it just "looks" a little bit better on the PS4 Pro and xBox One X! "Smoother" edges for example,

You could argue about texture quality on the base...but either way it will still be a great experience!

I think the ground and some of the minor textures (Athurs arm in the one screen cap) are definitely going to show through, IIRC all the trailers were taken on a base PS4 and it shows when you compare them to the gameplay video that was done in 4K which we know a base won't do

I still think the only difference will be resolution and anisotropic filtering as always and nothing else between the two console types (1080p vs. checkerboard 1920x2160).

It won't be a huge difference for sure. I'm getting an X for the additional speed, using it as a mediaplayer/streamer using Kodi, 4k blu ray capabilities, and simply having cash to burn.

Especially the last bit, if you have something else you need to spend your money on. Do that instead.

Got mine today, the 4K update for RDR is incredible. After going from a base xbox one i'm very happy haha!

On Xbox’s 1X web page is has a list of games that is either upgraded or supported by the power of the X . RDR2 was recently added to that list as it sais that it supports 4K, HDR lighting, and is “Xbox enhanced.” The Xbox enhanced description is the most intriguing to me as this often means improved textures, overall quality in detail, and faster load times . IMO, Rockstar will fully optimize each system to its full potential with the X clearly having the best overall performance , even if it’s not obvious to the naked eye. All 4 versions will look incredible, but if one were to rate from least to best tech it would go (Xbox 1, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox 1X) but most of y’all probably already understand this 😜

I've still got a base ps4 for the exclusives but most my friends play on xbox, i gotta say though that 4K update for RDR looks really impressive!

Well I bit the bullet and just ordered a PS4 Pro on Amazon. Plus I used all my cashback bonus from my Discover card, so after tax and everything it was $316.45. I added it to my cart and I'm sitting there thinking, "Am I really about to buy this for essentially one game?" Then I realized The Last of Us: Part II is coming eventually and that was all the justification I needed. "Proceed to checkout" lol. Also, for anyone unfamiliar, this site I use lets you know when a product is listed as in stock. I kept an eye on that and then refreshed Amazon. You can even set up browser, email, and text alerts to notify you.

Dude, I'm sure that's true but it's a horrible example. That game was made back in the stone age and it got a 4K upgrade.

I'm saying the difference between RDR2 on an Xbox One (S) and RDR2 on a Xbox One X will be minimal

I think you're under estimating here, potentially going from 900p (base/s) to 1800p or true 4k (x) IS going to be a noticeable difference for both 4k TV owners and 1080p TV owners.

Not to mention we've yet to see the other minor differences like particle effects and texture filtering (which looks much lower in the base ps4 videos compared to the latest video taken from Pro.

Going from 1080p or lower to 4k with HDR (and hopefully better textures on OneX) isnt just a "little better". Please

It's funny how back in 2013 many people claimed the difference between 900p and 1080p is big. Today the same people claim going from 1080p to 4K is a minimal upgrade. *sigh*

Yeah, what i’m saying is you can truly see a difference in 4k even with such an old game (that even to this day still holds up). You get where i’m going w/ RDR2?

I never "claimed" anything in 2013 or today. I just said the game will look a little bet better on the Pro or on the X.

And @jumper2011 i dont said how much is this "little", and i never said it isnt it worth, i going to buy me a PS4 Pro for the Release...

For games as RDR, Is a 4k tv with 100hz better than one with 50hz or will 100hz only cause input lag? I was playing Uncharted 4 on a 4k 50hz tv and it seems a bit less smooth than I thought. Or it was because it was a standard ps4...anyone know?

Neither, consoles are 60Hz, so set your TV to display the pure signal either by setting it as a PC (usually under the label section), this will also net you 4:4:4 chroma subsampling (which helps with clarity), and using the TVs game mode if it has one. DO Not fall for that bs about 100Hz, 200Hz, 600Hz, etc, the screens do NOT refresh at this rate, instead the image is heavily delayed and then processed which yes, increases input latency by an extreme amount. HDTV panels are 60Hz no matter where they are (in EU they'll be shown as 50Hz due to electrical standards but the screen itself is still 60Hz).
