LucidLocomotive
I've been revisiting GTA IV recently and here are some things that really amazed me that I don't remember seeing in GTA V. I would love to be wrong and for these things to be included in V, some things I noticed were -Peds drinking coffee -Peds either working on their cars on the side of the road with the hood popped open, or loading things into their trunk -Cars being pulled over on the side of the road by cops (not just police chases, but encountering a car that has already been pulled over) -AI cars actually park and a pedestrian gets out and starts going about his/her day, meaning the AI cars actually have destinations that they reach. AND this one was the kicker for me. I was attempting to kill playboy X and shot one of his henchmen in the stomach until their health was empty, he fell to the ground and cried out "I'm done, I'm done, next move is yours gangster!" This made the gunfight feel so much more personal and visceral than I can ever remember any shootout being in GTA V, is anything like this featured in V? raebbitos, Sonny_Black, .Bach and 6 others
theGTAking101
Now that I actually think about it, I've never seen any of this in V. It's a shame, because things like this make the world feel alive. In V, the NPCs just feel like random actors in a movie that are paid to just stand in the background. Andromeda-J
for those details i respect gta 4 too, can't play only gta 5 without occasionally freeroaming in gta 4 for the livelyness experience. Officer Ronson
I've been revisiting GTA IV recently and here are some things that really amazed me that I don't remember seeing in GTA V. I would love to be wrong and for these things to be included in V, some things I noticed were -Peds drinking coffee - Almost every NPC does this in the game, I think you need glasses. -Peds either working on their cars on the side of the road with the hood popped open, or loading things into their trunk - As far as I remember, it only happens in some car shops that can't be used by the player -Cars being pulled over on the side of the road by cops (not just police chases, but encountering a car that has already been pulled over) - Nah, V doesn't have this, only a few spots where a bike cop can be seen mimicking a traffic stop, but just like the rest of what you an I listed, it's just a scripted spawn. -AI cars actually park and a pedestrian gets out and starts going about his/her day, meaning the AI cars actually have destinations that they reach. - They do this aswell. - Yeah, if you don't outright kill them, they'll stay on the ground whining for a bit either shooting at you or just dying, there's also if you shoot someone once, they'll go from the normal posture to the injured one and then they'll eventually crumble in a special animation while saying an unique line. However most of what you have described aren't ''Advanced NPCs'', in both games they're just ambient scenarios. Am Shaegar
Spøkelse
"It sounds like you've been running around tossing plastic explosives at high speeds rather than taking walks around the city and countryside." "Just leaving my bunker I can see people talking to one another with actual conversations and not random scripted lines, NPC's getting off of their bike and stretching or inspecting their bicycles, NPC's getting into fender benders and yelling at one another, NPC's getting pulled over, NPC's getting into chases and shootouts with cops.." "I could go on with many different examples of how NPC's are quite obviously more advanced than any previous GTA installment, but a simple stroll down Del Perro Pier or along the streets in Los Santos and its surrounding countryside can easily show examples that dispute your post." SeberHusky
Sounds like you need to put toothpicks on your eyelids OP. Now that I finished story mode and most of the Stranger Things missions I spend a lot of time walking around in first person and just randomly talking to people (mostly as Michael as trying to do that as Trevor is not a good idea, everything he says is an insult, lol) If you go to Mirror Park and talk to peds as Michael, Michael has a lot of anti-hipster one liners in his repository. "Hello she-Hipster." "What's up, you hip cock?" I was dying, lol Some of the peds will actually go into a vested conversation with you if they feel like it. I got into a conversation with some Go Postal workers about f*cking mailing forms lol Then the black guy freaked out for some reason and threw a right hook at me. But yeah all the peds do do activities on their own. Most of the teenage peds just stand around in a circle texting on their phones. There's also often cops parked on the side of the PCH, oh sorry the Great Ocean Highway, checking for speeders. If you sit there with them they eventually will find a speeder (who is actually speeding) and take off after him. Of course with them being robocops, their Police Cruiser can accelerate from 20 to 120 in 3 seconds. Sonny_Black
Yep, they get rid of many scenario(.dat) and other things; -NPC's who repair electric poles -NPC's who post the mail (the infamous mailman) -NPC's who buy food on the street and in the fast food. -NPC's who paint their houses -As you said, NPC's who repair their car or search their trunk on the side of the road, which can happen almost everywhere. -NPC's who whistle taxi -Cops running after criminal. -Road rage with NPC's fighting with each other, other NPC's will have reactions such as walking or running away, some will do not care and others will run toward the fight to kick some ass. -NPS's who carry items such as shopping bags and food (actual props). There is more but I don't have everything in mind. Edited November 13, 2017 by anthony Euri DR and ROCKSTAR MANIC
ROCKSTAR MANIC
Ive seen the almost all the ambient peds that are known to man, except that mailman. Ive never seen the mailman. Anyways, OP you got to stop riding around at 100 mph. Stop and just observe the peds, instead of running around like a madman. You will appericate what IV is about when you see everything that happens that makes LC feel "alive". Sonny_Black

That's how I've always played, that's the reason I loved IV so much and made this post, I always walk instead of run and drive like a ped and play realistically, that's why I love the living breathing city idea so much. I've just personally never seen some of these things, like peds with grocery bags and trash trucks with guys on the back and things like that.
