Does armour makes the Havok helicopter slower?

I bought the heli and when I added 100% armour the mechanic said something about extra weight so I wanna know if I unintentionally made it slower

No armor upgrades makes any vehicle slower, regardless of what any NPC says or what is stated on the LSC app of iFruit.

I remeber seeing here that there is a change of the vehicle's weight in the files, but it's meaningless and plays no part in the vehicle's performance.

If you have the money, buy it, because nothing pisses me off more than getting a wheel locked up or a suspension banged up in the middle of a race.

*Furiously stares at my Schaffer V12, whose damaged suspension costed me the lead in a 5 lap stunt race on the final lap*

Broughy on YouTube says armour does impact on performance?!

He specifically said otherwise in his "how to go faster" video, at 2:44 mark:

So, if he has gone back on his word, could you please share the link to it?

Hmmm, I'm not sure which video it was bro. Pretty sure I'm remembering rightly, but I could be wrong.

I think he made a video on the PS3 or Xbox360 version where he actually puts body modifications, armour, and carbon parts on the vehicle and checks out the different laptimes. He does mention that adding armour alone gave a better time though...

In this same video, precisely at 2:49 he mentions that the differences didn't had that much of a effect to be considerable or not, in the end, it's down to the driver in this case.

Taking them at face value, yes the car went faster, but there could be some human error involved as well(I'm not saying he is a bad driver, in fact he's very consistent with his racing lines, but there's still room for error in track like his).

Also, this video is very old, from November 2013, and since them a lot of stuff has changed in the car's physics.

Anyway, I'm intrigued by this, so I decided to test this myself, once I get home, I will load a track that is only a straight line and check for any differences in acceleration.

Test car: Weeny Izzy, compacts, FWD.

(Reasoning for choosing this car: it's a very light car that I can steal off the street and go to LSC with it, theorically speaking, a lighter car would be more impacted by extra weight)

Track: 2 kilometers-long drag strip, I made it exclusively to test out acceleration and top speed.

Methodology:

Test the time it takes to complete the course with a completely stock car, and a car I stole from the street of the same model, with only max armor upgrade applied to it.

Ghosted race just to make sure catch up is out of question, No boosts at the start of the race, take off is with gas pedal fully pressed which makes a little bit of wheels wheelspin at the start, no steering inputs whatsoever.

I made it like this to mimize any possible randomness of the test.

Times:

Stock Weeny Izzy: 00:32:134

Armored Weeny Izzy: 00:32:167

Results: and armored car is technically SLOWER than a stock car, BUT the difference is negligible like I(and Broughy) said before.

EDIT: alright here it is:

Hell, I gonna test this out with more cars now.

Would the test be more relevant round corners? That's what hits heavy vehicles most isn't it?

As Broughy showed in his test, it made his car quicker in the track, but again, the difference is negligible.

And theorically, extra weight on a car impacts on everything, including handling, acceleration and top speed.
