Will gta 5 get updated to 4k on xbox one x?

I did some basic timing on my X with GTA installed on internal HDD. From dashboard game start to Story Mode spawned in, 50 seconds. From Story Mode to online spawned in, 70 seconds. From 1 online session to another online session spawned in, 52 seconds.

Yep, i noticed faster load times, same with asassins creed

Be careful what you wish for.

Game doesn't look great at 4k. Shadows don't seem to scale properly and look blocky. There's also that weird stitch effect they used for things in the distance that becomes a lot more noticeable. It would probably look even worse on console.

I'm not seeing this problem. If anything once I swapped my 1080p tv out for a 4k tv, black looks darker, there are more details in the shadows and everything is clearer.

The original Red Dead Redemption is now enhanced. Haven't saw any mention of it anywhere. Looking through games to see what's been enhanced I stumbled on this. It doesn't show up under "enhanced" titles, but you can view game details. It lists scorpio. Their are quite a few titles not listed as enhanced that are. This isn't 4k, looks more like an hrd thing. Colors pop, contrast is tweaked. Still 30fps, but smooth.

A GTA enhancement is very possible, don't believe we'll get a full 4k or 60fps. I remember awhile back hearing microsoft gave developers the tools to make this process easy, making a basic enhancement only a couple day process.

You're still playing at 1080p if you're on console. Swapping TV doesn't change the resolution of the game. It's also stretching it 4x and it'll look worse than a 1080p TV. Blacks and such may look better, but that's only because it's a better TV in general.

I have a 4k monitor and a 1080ti. I play this game at 3840x2160 and it looks pretty poor at this resolution.

I'm not hating on you, but a 4k TV in 2017 is pretty much useless. Nothing broadcasts in 4k expect some sports and there's been like 10 4k Blu-ray releases so far. All it's going to do is stretch 1080p and make it look horrible.

It’s a lot of effort for only a subset of players that upgraded from standard PS4 and XB1. Look at how many textures in the game are still old-gen resolution. Even some of the new stuff (Coast Guard livery on the Tula, for example) looks like it was made for 480i.

480i? Thats pushing it man.

You're probably right about it looking better on a better TV. But I can't quite agree on 4K being useless bc there are quite a few 4K blurays on Amazon.

I doubt it. Unless Microsoft is willing to pick up the tab for it.

Doubt it. They will save 4k and use it as a selling point for GTA6, along with HDR. I have a PS4 PRO and its more stable and loading times are a bit quicker. If you have a 4k TV the TV will upscale it along with the console.

and I have them both and know the xbox x is more stable and loading

All games have a base level enhancement that the Xbox is able to do on its own. Even original xbox backwards compatable games benefit.

The games listed as enhanced have the developers take time to put out 4k textures/hdr/60fps.

C* will probably not update gtao unless they intended to keep their word on updating to gta6 assets when it releases or gta6 takes too long... but the latter is a crapshoot when C* thinks 2 years qualifies as "soon"

I find it unlikely, but I would love it if it did happen.

No, not gonna happen.

Could R* do it, yes given the millions upon millions they still make off of this game every year.

However a legit graphics upgrade for the game just for X1X owners is even less likely than R* shifting to dedicated servers for everyone.

The X1X isn't a mainstream console, it's not a replacement for the X1S or standard X1, it's just a more powerful version that's not being manufactured to the same level as the others.

Until the X1X becomes the mainstream console, or some type of similar console does, R* won't go out of their way to offer improvements in-game just for it & it alone.

The only time R* is interested in making such a commitment is when it's something like the next gen transition/which they did for base X1s & PS4s.

Most gamers aren't gonna invest in the $500+ X1X, R*'s gain from offering a graphic upgrade with it would be near non-existent, possible a few new players but not many.

In reality they'd only be giving Microsoft a new sales advantage over Sony.

Would it split up Xbox X owners from the other versions?

I don't really play other MP games so I wouldn't know, if it does I don't see them doing that.

I'd be surprised if many games at all are enhanced for the new Xbox, firstly is anyone going to buy one? not many people bought the first Xbox one and it was so cheap it was almost free. Then you have the problem of there being 4 current console versions. They are going to do what developers always do.. base the game on the weakest of the systems.. Then port from there.

?? What's your definition of not many?

According to sources the XB1 has sold a total of 31,159,732 units. I would hardly call that "not many people".

As for the for the original topic of XB1X being 4K:

I'm not sure if they will or not, but it is plausible. The XB1X has better specs than most PC gaming rigs and runs on x86 so "porting" should be relatively "easy" compared to how it's been in the past.

Probably 29 million of the 31 are in the states though because it's the only country where Microsoft isn't a dirty word. No one else cares about the Xbox. They are sitting on the shelf at my local shop for 170 USD including Forza and no takers other than the dust growing on them, everyone still buys the standard PS4 at 360 USD.

Anecdotal examples aren't qualification...clearly you don't like Xbox and this bias has given you tunnel vision.

Probably just doesn't cut it in a debate.

I own all the Xbox's because I like Forza, doesn't mean they are any good or that anyone else buys them.

I don't think Microsoft is a dirty word here in Norway but we all know who/what is best ;)

If you claim its sony the only company who knows less about cyber security than hillary clinton and who's servers crash more than amtrak I am going to sh*t myself laughing.

No, if PC players can stay un-split despite the possibility of one player at 800x600 at lowest settings and the other at 4k max graphics, changing the XboneX to 4k wouldn't split the playerbase in any way. Doubt it'd happen though.

You mean the PC forgotten race where the support is automated and player legitimacy doesn't matter?

Anyway to answer the question it's no, there wont be a specific update to 4k for the Xbox-one-x. BUT There probably will be on the next generation of consoles and those will be backwards compatible with the current machines. So PS5 and Xbox something.. then you will get your 4k on your current game save.
