Will gta 5 get updated to 4k on xbox one x?

Anyone know? I heard the load times will be faster and all that (which is great knowing the load times in gta) but what about the graphics, will rockstar release an update for enhanced graphics?

Thanks in advance!

It’s a lot of effort for only a subset of players that upgraded from standard PS4 and XB1. Look at how many textures in the game are still old-gen resolution. Even some of the new stuff (Coast Guard livery on the Tula, for example) looks like it was made for 480i.

I don't think so.

Load times won't improve much unless we're talking about SSD and keep in mind that time needed to get Online from SP won't be reduced at all. Playing on high performing PC with wired Ethernet pretty much proves that. 4k would be great, definitely, but even QHD will be nice too. The main issue with console graphics is antialising, IMO. The only enhanced graphics apart from AA that matters is extended distance scaling.

Well:

Ray Cox IV @Stallion83

Tried loading times in GTAV. Xbox One X Vs Xbox One S, both from internal HDD. This is initial load into the story. X: .24 seconds S: 1:07

https://twitter.com/Stallion83/status/926365016886075392

Digital Foundry checked Witcher 3 and X slashes loading time by whooping 1 minute, from 1:45 to 0:45, so I guess we can believe it's the same for GTA V.

Also with no patch applied V now holds 30fps during moments, when Xbone struggled plus you get improved texture filtering:

As for the patch - I doubt it, knowing how Rockstar care only about money nowadays and with coming RDR2 soon they probably don't bother with improving their previous game. I just wonder if X improves framerate also in Online, because on my Xbone it's struggling to run in 30fps.

To sum it up, GTA V running on Xbox One X with no patch offers:

-faster loading times

-better framerate, stable 30fps (at least in SP)

-improved texture filtering

No plans for that as of yet.

1440p, or QHD, will actually be supported by the XB1 X, unlike the PS4 Pro, which only supports 1080p or 2160p, or 4k. However, I'm not sure if most game developers will make their games so that they support 1440p, considering that many people play on TV's and TV's don't support 1440p resolution. There's an article on this: https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/11/2/16597100/xbox-one-x-1440p-support-confirmed

I'd be surprised if many games at all are enhanced for the new Xbox, firstly is anyone going to buy one? not many people bought the first Xbox one and it was so cheap it was almost free. Then you have the problem of there being 4 current console versions. They are going to do what developers always do.. base the game on the weakest of the systems.. Then port from there.

@ Mastah: Interesting, thanks! 24 seconds on X1 X? Wow, that's SSD time we're talking here. I'm getting something around 30secs with 4790k and 850 pro. Will time it today.

Considering the graphics, though, it's better not to hold your breath. More fps is nice, but honestly speaking, stuttering in Online is mostly P2P related and 30 is still far away from 60... And if 4k/ QHD patch will be released, performance will not be good: it's not possible to get stable 4k 60 fps with a single GPU and ultra settings. The catch is, though, ultra FX settings and AA are things that matter to elevate the experience from PS4/XB1.

I don't think an SSD does much at all for Grand Theft Auto V/ Online although it may for other games.

I've got three machines - one with some lower end i3 CPU and a GT 525M, one with an i7 4810MQ and a GTX 860m, and finally one with a i7 6700K and a GTX 1070. The last one is on 5G wifi, but will get into GTA V's story mode faster than the other two. It also loads Online quicker (less time being stuck in the clouds). With that machine, if you're in an invite only session and play a race, then vote for Freemode at the end, there's virtually no delay or waiting whatsoever, within 15 seconds I've got control of the character again.

The 4810 + 860m machine loads slower, but with that machine GTA is on an SSD and it's also wired up via ethernet.

Needless to say the other one (an All In One machine) is crap and takes forever. Honestly - I can choose to go online, take a quick dump on the toilet and come back and I'm still in the clouds waiting.

On topic, I'm pretty sure GTA V won't be getting any further console developments and if you really want 60fps and/ or 4K, you need the PC variant and a lot of patience (because of how the gameplay can be affected by people using menus/ cheats).

And windows updates: 2017 fall, I'm looking at you! A lot of sales in the lobby, especially in peaceful lobbies, may also lead to drops.

Well i do hope they make it in 4k it would be really nice for me because i enjoy the views in gta they are spectacular, especially with the lighting from the sky during sunset.

If they made a seperate 4k disc i would for sure buy it

Doubt it. They will save 4k and use it as a selling point for GTA6, along with HDR. I have a PS4 PRO and its more stable and loading times are a bit quicker. If you have a 4k TV the TV will upscale it along with the console.

Same hear. Ps4pro is nice but without a patch the boost mode actually made it get wierd graphics issues. Turned off boost mode and it runs a rocksolid 30 fps. Switching to dedicated servers would be a better move imo instead of trying to push 4k n hdr thru a p2p connection. Rdr2 was shown on a ps4 pro iirc, and it looks amazing. Gta5 on console is merely an updated ps3 game.

It does? Boost mode works fine for me. I haven't spotted any graphical issues because of it. What you spotting?

As above mentioned 4K will be a selling point for the next GTA. Even if they could patch GTA V for PS4 Pro and XboxOX they won´t do it.

Just wait few years for the real next generation, PS5.

Wouldn't RDR 2 be the next selling point for 4k?

Yeah, but people will still get excited at the first GTA to be in 4K with HDR. Red Dead doesn't sell anywhere near as much as GTA. GTAV has sold 80 million + copies. The first Red Dead sold 15 million. GTA will always sell more copies. Its Rockstars main game.

Xbox One X? Do you have to buy a whole new machine to upgrade or just upgrade some parts if you already have an Xb1?

Sounds like a giant rip off if you need a whole new machine.

Phones are closed with parts only by the company but consoles can be open and depends on your skill level part can be replaced with better ones.

Very bad example.

Hopefully they're directing their resources to making the next GTA/expansion/or whatever they have planned for the series. This doesn't need to be the next skyrim.

Yeah? Which consoles can you upgrade then?

I was getting wierd blue textures where a mountain would turn blue then flicker back to normal every once in a while. I turned off boost and havent had any issues whatesoever. Without a pro patch the differences are minimal either way. R* could make a x1x and pro patch to actually make use of the dual graphics card, but im not holding my breath. It was a cpl system updates ago so maybe they sorted it out by now. I havent used boost in months.

?? What's your definition of not many?

According to sources the XB1 has sold a total of 31,159,732 units. I would hardly call that "not many people".

As for the for the original topic of XB1X being 4K:

I'm not sure if they will or not, but it is plausible. The XB1X has better specs than most PC gaming rigs and runs on x86 so "porting" should be relatively "easy" compared to how it's been in the past.

I have my fingers crossed, i know they are probably too busy with RDR2 and more online stuff, but like i said i have my fingers crossed for a 4k update.

I did some basic timing on my X with GTA installed on internal HDD. From dashboard game start to Story Mode spawned in, 50 seconds. From Story Mode to online spawned in, 70 seconds. From 1 online session to another online session spawned in, 52 seconds.
