How do you see the transition of GTAV Online moving to GTAVI Online?

If they do, it's only for the character apparence.

It could be like Destiny 2 where you can continue with your character from the last game BUT have to start all over.

I think this would be the best option. New game, new challenges etc. Like I said, if they do allow the character to transfer then maybe use it as the new intro sequence to the online game.

"Transfer" will most likely be a sh*tty starter pack

-500k GTA$ that will allow us to buy a little something

-sh*t 2-car garage unlocked

-exclusive t-shirts that no-one will wear after the first week

-2 exclusive guns that will be useless after the 1st DLC

-maybe some special tint that won't be a big deal

-3 exclusive vehicles for sale

Anyone thinking they're going to let us transfer something other than appearance (and even then I'm sure our characters being transferred to VI will look nothing alike because it'll look different) is delusional. They said GTA Online was going to expand to future GTA titles, but they also said Story Mode DLC was coming. Plans changed, GTAVI will have its own Online and it will be different from the current one. We will start from scratch again.

Sounds like the Gta6 Premium Collectors edition that's worth 100 bucks tbh.

When GTA VI comes out there will be an update for GTAO. A permanent 5 star wanted level for your part in the Pacific Bank Heist

When you get arrested you will be released into GTA VI. Broke.

Don't want to go to VI? Non stop copfest for you.

R* finally releases a singleplayer DLC introducing the new protag of GTAVI

In order to play GTAVI you have to use the new protag to kill the three protags of V in a brand new action packed mission 8 years in the making

After killing the protags of V, V Singleplayer becomes locked and you can only play GTA V Online for the remaining 2 weeks before R* shuts down the servers in a move to push all remaining players to buy the new GTA

Fresh start for me...

With my cash and rank. The game would simply be empty if there's nothing to aim for.

No need for teams, no need for shark cards (potentially), no progression or targets, things certainly won't get replayed as much, partly good, as in public business grinding, but partly bad, as teams won't be needed to do things proficiently. So much would suffer and I'd feel like I'm simply already at the top.

Bit pointless.

Seriously, we know the plan now. Shark cards are to be considered as the marketing has shown they are the driving force these days, after the initial release that is, and with open transfers players would simply see that duping 100 Vigilante's on their GTA V profile to take over a couple of hundred million...

* Transferring the look, and maybe some cosmetic 'loyalty bonus', T-Shirts and such. I can see that happen.

Ez.
GTA Online support ends leaving us with tons of bugs and without sandbox mode.

GTA Online 2 - Time to make real money! Feel yourself like a real criminal in the world of GTA VI, but with friends! Rob banks and shops, do missions for a next 45 contacts (which will also call your and cry about you not doing da missions), participate in street races! Only in GTA Online 2!

There are some factors to take under consideration. We are assuming that GTA V and GTA VI progressively chronological. If GTA VI is set in the 70s, 80s, or 90s, then its a no go altogether. If they are linear, then the only way I see it working is if one of the protagonists or antagonists from story mode of VI comes to us and tells us we work for him/her now. The loyalty bonus would hopefully be an apartment of your choosing, all previous attributes, rank, and $500k.

I love my vehicles but I just would start buying and redoing them if we start from zero.

I just hope that we get all the content without R* logic. I hope they learn from the mistakes done in V. For example vehicle classification. A wider range of customization for all vehicle, apartments and for our character.

I just hope we will get contant faster. Imagine to wait again years for great stuff as Biker, Tattoos, Clothes or Hunter.

I hope we get the level of content that we have now from the beginning and more is added with the years.

And I hope for the greatest map ever with all GTA citys.

I can wait till next Generation of PS/XBox to make it work.

I'm hoping for a fresh start to be honest. My character has everything he wants and needs now, and it would defeat the purpose of the (new) game if he was able to bring everything with him. While I wouldn't mind being able to transfer his appearance to the multiplayer mode of GTA 6 (or being able to reconstruct him with the same haircut, facial hair, etc). I would be okay with his cars, clothing and bank account staying in Los Santos.

I don't know. I don't think they would let us take our money over, because that would mean less shark card sales with a bunch of new properties etc to buy. But I would like it if they at least let us continue our characters story in a new city, so take their appearance over.

Also I hope they carry over certain vehicles. There are plenty of so-so stuff, but there are some vehicles I would miss. Like the Akuma, my Sanctus, nightblade and bf400. The Stirling GT, Obey 9F, Verlierer, Zentorno, Cheetah classic, Seven 70, and a few others. I also wouldn't be happy if the next version didn't have a Buzzard - maybe have a newer version of the MH-6 little bird....the heli its based on. They added an extra rotar which makes it even quieter, made it faster, added armor making it resistant to all small arms and that includes the cockpit.

I've always been a big fan of Sentinels, and while I do like GTAV's sentinel, it doesn't seem as quick as previous versions. Maybe I'm remembering wrong though.

Of course there should be lots of new stuff, but there are some great looking, sounding, and handling vehicles in this game & it would be a shame to toss them all on the scrap heap.

The one thing I'm sure about is that they will want us starting from zero dollars. And I'm also concerned that prices will start off as high as gtao now, with them making it even more grindy to earn money.

Personally I'd hope for a Loyalty bonus of 500k, keep all cosmetics, and having to start from rank 1 with a permanent x2 RP bonus.

RP needs to be re done in a new game. Some people were level 75 in the third day GTA online came out in 2013. Should take a lot longer time to get up to higher ranks. I'm tired of getting kicked by low levels for thinking I have a modded account at level 791. Not my fault the game basically throws RP at you, it's been 4 years.

We need to ban these threads, because there are no updates on GTAVI, no one knows if it's even in development and no one knows what will happen and when it happens it wont be for years yet.

You might as well count on GTA 6 Online starting from scratch. No money. New characters and starting from level One with nothing.

Grand illusions about keeping anything from GTA 5 Online are best left to the magicians.

If they keep using the same game engine as in this one, they'll let us move our character from this game to the other, and they'll let us modify them with better customization options, and not that mother/father crap.

Money and property-wise, we'll definitely start from zero, and I personally like starting from scratch as it is more fun.

Talking about what is going to happen for a game not set to release for another 3 to 4 years. I concur it seems like pointless discussion.

Makingthequants

Great topic, iv wanted to post something very similar.

I'm defo in favour of us getting our vehicles weapons, money etc retained.

If it was to happen simple cut scene to transition off the plane.

What I think will happen though would be 3 major possibilities out of a series of possibilities:

A. We get a plea bargain from agent 14 and get to choose either to retain an apartment, 5 cars or perhaps a percentage of our money from online. (This gives the player the illusion of choice)

B. Rockstar decide to boost sales of shark cards once again given you no choices at all but to start from scratch (This is the more likely scenario given the new GTA is at least 10 years away and will have a new generation of gamers and to extract millions of MB of data for transfer is not worth it)

C. We actually get to retain all our RP and everything collected including money and other stuff. Given GTA 2.0 will be heavily based on this iteration of online with very similar vehicles it could be easier to implement. (This scenario is highly unlikely but would give Rockstar a very good opportunity to do right by the players who invested vast quantities of time and money into online 1.0)

As I said above I would like to keep everything I have and if given choice at least some of the money from this iteration but I highly doubt it.

Just my 2p but hope you guys feel the same as if we all agree maybe we will get at least a small part of what we have accumulated over the years

What seems comical to me is introducing a 'Smuggler's Run' update with hangars and dozens of new aircraft, and then putting an invisible barrier around Los Santos so that we can't actually travel anywhere. I have a hanger in LSIA, and the only direction I can realistically travel is north.

So, Rockstar finally make an assortment of fantastical vehicles available to us, fours years down the line after initial launch of GTA online (which are still being drip-fed to us btw) and then scrub all of that in a few years from now through the launch of a brand new GTA online on another island, just like Los Santos, but with an invisible barrier around it also that we can't fly through or penetrate?

Perhaps Rockstar has already invested too much in GTA online to just scrub it and start all over? Who knows?

It would be perfectly acceptable to buy certain items like cars and apartments all over again. You could argue that cars can't drive over oceans or between sea-locked islands, but buying a another hangar and all of these vehicles, all over again? Just to be land-locked all over again?

I think my patience with Rockstar would finally come to an end. All of those years, and all that grinding for aircraft, yachts and boats. That don't go anywhere?

A new city that you can't fly to in aircraft? Aircraft that cost millions of dollars and took hundreds of hours to grind?

A new 'start again' city would be great at first, but once you realise you're grinding it all over again, and will never be able to leave, it could be hellish over the long-term. Once the excitement has worn off.

Rockstar have always excelled in taking their development time and blowing the competition away over the long-term, but starting all over again in a new city and grinding your way up to the same properties, businesses, vehicles, aircraft, etc... would be suicide over the long-term due to the repeat grind of it all.

If it's just a new version where you have to do everything over to get similar stuff, I won't ever touch it. The greedy, stupid, frat boy Housers screwed the Benz over and I've long since picked sides.

But, aside Minecraft I think, aren't all games 'land locked'... Certainly with R* games dude.

Each title has been a new land, Ok, games like Vice City, San Andreas and RDR had islands/lands to unlock, but that won't really work in online I think. Besides, if you get to fly over and keep your aircraft, the racers/drivers will be very pissed dude... We could easily shift them over with an imaginary ferry, or something, lol. I do agree, what was a big game in 2013 is now much, much smaller though dude.

Besides, the barrier was there long before the hangers. Though, makes it look less well thought out from R*'s POV, I mean, it's a decent idea, but the map is small enough as it is. Though I don't foresee maps added, except possible Nth. Yankton, but that's the joy of this... We have no clues yet, so any of our own personal preferences/dream scenarios are still a possibility until they announce things.

Also, this chap has a huge good point I never considered before...

There are some factors to take under consideration. We are assuming that GTA V and GTA VI progressively chronological. If GTA VI is set in the 70s, 80s, or 90s

If R* are considering a new game in a new time frame (70's would be new I think), that could change things too. Unless it's the future, lol (Not for me though).

I hope my character wakes up from a blurry sleep, and a voice says "Welcome to your new body Molio" like in Avatar. Then a cut scene will show my character looking amazed at his new 4K self.

Then, day one, I'm going to buy loads of Shark Cards to get ahead.

BLACK DYNAM1TE

Who says GTA 6 will be online? If so we dont no any of the mechanics to fully speculate. They could go back to the GTA 4 online set up and be done with it all.

Property obliviously wouldn't transfer, but characters and vehicles will. If anyone noticed the majority of cars in GTA 5 are just brought over from GTA 4 with little to no changes. I also say characters transfer given the fact the Rank cap currently is 8000, meaning they either want us to play GTAOnline another 12 years or they plan on having the avatars involved in other activities or games.

Wouldn't it be cool if they released "Episodes from Vinewood" or "Los Santos Stories" an online only game before releasing GTA 6 starring our characters?

Answer: Hell muthaf*cking Yes
