How do you see the transition of GTAV Online moving to GTAVI Online?

Basically do you think they will allow us to keep our characters or request that we start anew? Personally I'm good with either.

But if they do transfer across I don't want to start from the top straight away. Perhaps show a cutscene of your character getting let off from jail due to connections with Agent 14 but the state confiscate all your assets. Sort of like the very last scene of The Wire where by the main criminal avoids jail, but goes back to the hustle and working his way back up which is probably the best time he had rather than being at the top for so long.

I don't think they'll let us transfer over our current characters and everything we have with them. With the next iteration of Online most likely using a new engine and everything it wouldn't make sense carrying over everything from the current engine. Most likely there'll be new physics, new animations and more so it would make more sense starting anew.

Just my opinion though. I'm pretty sure they'll retain the name GTA Online and not call it GTAVI Online or some sh*t.

I could see them letting us transfer the APPEARANCE of our characters and maybe getting some unique vehicle, weapon, or t-shirt for doing so, but no money, no property, nothing actually from Online to VIs theoretical Multiplayer world.

.Diana McFarland.

I hope we have the option to keep our characters genetic makeup.

so we can either create a new looking character or use our old models.

i really hope so.

because it took many hours to make my character.

I would like to carry over both of my characters then 4K-ify them with hopefully a more in depth character creator that isn't limited to just the head :p

I don't really think of it. The idea of starting a whole new GTA game feels a little much, given how much I've played this one over the years. There'll be some break before this game dies, and the next GTA comes out, in my opinion - and that works for me.

I have my Hunter to roam around Los Santos in anyway. That's enough for me for now.

FFS. Spoiler alert?! I hadn't seen The Wire yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did something a bit like the transfer from last-gen to current-gen: improved faces that use more detailed equivalents to the old settings, maybe some bonus cash (not a huge amount) for transferring with an existing GTAO character, perhaps a bunch of things which are free to returning players (cheap cars - things like the Blista Compact, Stallion, etc.), and a unique 'I played GTAO 1.0, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt' cosmetic item or two. That'd be nice, certainly.

Wasn't following the updates, I always thought they will keep building on the current GTA online as it was named GTA online not GTA V online. Looks like I am wrong!

They'd better fix the character creator, and when I mean fix I mean dump everything out the window. it sucks.

No I think you're right. The name GTA Online has now become a known brand on its own and doubt they'd mess it up. Mostly likely a sequel might be called something like GTAO: Location Name, then GTAVI for the single player and main selling purpose built over 20 years.

We may be able transfer our character, but we will otherwise be starting from scratch, or as close thereto that it makes no difference. We'll be working our way up from the bottom to buy all the new toys, or buying shark cards to do it. We won't be starting the game with Supercars and militarised vehicles.

I think there will be a much stronger narrative and better DLC structure to the next online game. GTAonline was the first attempt by Rockstar to do an online game. The Housers will no doubt put a lot more work into the story aspects of the next iteration. I also expect to see better balancing as well. There might be jets, but they won't be as powerful. They will have learned a lot about player behaviour.

No it ain't

If they don't switch to dedicated servers by then, it's pretty much guaranteed.

They physically intimidated menu creators with thugs private investigators in the past, and look where we are now.

I would be more than alright with keeping the physical form of my character with some updated attributes and features, but I hope that is the extent of what we can transfer. I certainly do not want to see the tiring businesses, stunt tracks, and ridiculous out of place vehicles transferred to the next realm of online play.

However I have my doubts about anything transferring; the game is already over four years old and is showing its age more and more as time progresses. It's not horribly outdated just yet, but it could be a good two years or longer before GTA VI is released! That is a significant amount of time in regards to both graphics and gameplay.

You don't.

Different city, different cars, guns, characters, practically everything.

Clean slate. No transfer.

They aren't going to let you bring over 250 million dollars from GTA V Online. That would defeat the purpose of things - macrotransactions. They aren't going to let modded accounts damage that revenue stream again.

It's going to be October 2013 all over again. Complete with the crappy peer to peer and overwhelmed infrastructure. R* doesn't do it first class, they do it cheap with the highest profit margin.

Rafae, I'm a negative nancy too. We both know R* is a creature of habit. GTA VI Online will be an amplified version of GTA V Online with the macrotransactions and the cheap infrascture choices. More flashy comic book kid/manchild catering and things designed to bilk you. Until people start demanding better content from them, they'll continue to shovel flashy crap that has no shelf life at us. They'll laugh all the way to the bank.

This is how it's gonna work out:

Buy a megalodon shark card

Buy & instal the game (demo only)

wait through year of drip-feed until the game is complete

Enjoy the f*cking game

Oh they can make it that every time you f*cking die, you have to buy a shark card in order to respawn

If they do, it's only for the character apparence.

It could be like Destiny 2 where you can continue with your character from the last game BUT have to start all over.

Unfortunately I believe that might be true there. If it's anything like some games such as Destiny for example, all that effort and such are a massive waste of time. Edited by Metal Slime

First of all, a new gta game doesn't seem likely do to them not wanting to make a singleplayer dlc which is a lot easier for them to make than an entire new gta game.

Second if they are dumb enough to allow character transfers to a new game, which I highly doubt, they better have a transfer restriction so those with modded accounts with impossible ranks, money, and K/D should autofail to transfer. Unless rockstar wants a repeat of what happened with the transfer from oldgen to next gen. They put gta online with peer to peer on consoles that have been modded for years, and allowed people to transfer to next gen with zero restrictions what so ever.

Why do you think there were and still are a lot of modded accounts on next gen. Most times I go into a public lobby and still see some players with levels over 2500. Than rockstar a year later shut character transfers down but were dumb and told everyone they have 2 months to transfer before disabling it. A lot of people made extra modded accounts during those 2 months but had a character transfer limit of no more than $700 million otherwise it wouldn't work.

Third starting from scratch is what most likely would happen do to rockstar wanting nobody to be able to buy new stuff in the new game with free money. They would also add rng loot crates to get cars from playing missions in a new game. But of course rockstar would allow you to buy the "optional" totally not game breaking at all, loot crates, to gamble real money to get a chance to get the item, gun, vehicle, whatever you want in game. Because grinding to get a chance at good loot is such a "fun" game experience. Imagine every dlc for the next gta game but with the aspects of the "research bs" from gunrunning for everything in game. But if you fast track it or buy it with real life you still get a chance of getting the thing you want and you would also be able to get duplicate items with no way to give them to other players.

"Transfer" will most likely be a sh*tty starter pack

-500k GTA$ that will allow us to buy a little something

-sh*t 2-car garage unlocked

-exclusive t-shirts that no-one will wear after the first week

-2 exclusive guns that will be useless after the 1st DLC

-maybe some special tint that won't be a big deal

-3 exclusive vehicles for sale

Anyone thinking they're going to let us transfer something other than appearance (and even then I'm sure our characters being transferred to VI will look nothing alike because it'll look different) is delusional. They said GTA Online was going to expand to future GTA titles, but they also said Story Mode DLC was coming. Plans changed, GTAVI will have its own Online and it will be different from the current one. We will start from scratch again.

Bruce Khansey

I read many times that now GTAO is bull*hit compared to what it was like back in the days.

So I suppouse the only difference is that the things that ruined this game will be implemented in GTA VI since day one instead after months/years.
