itsallup
Honestly now, all this gun control talk made me think. Even if they ban firearms, it still will be pretty easy to acquire a gun, and tragedies will still happen. But no-one is arguing for a ban of firearms. We're saying "sh*t, maybe you should actually enforce laws better if any Joe can just go to a wal-mart and buy an assault rifle, or if he can just go across state lines and buy anything off a private seller". Maybe you should actually do your background checks. Maybe you should actually have the agencies communicate with each other. Maybe you should have a better background check. All those things. Those are minimum requirements. Criminals wont care, they'll just buy 'em any way they can. Even with background checks and goverment agencies communicating. This is because when you're a criminal or if you're suficiently ill mentally, you will simply do anything to own a gun. They will always find a way to kill people whenever they want to. A month ago some stupid day-care security guy suffered from depression. Invaded the day-care with a galon of gasoline and set everybody on fire including himself, killed more than a dozen children and a handful of teachers. And he didnt own a gun. Guns are banned in Brazil, if you're spotted with a gun you can go to jail. And Rio de Janeiro simply has more AK-47s than anywhere in the world, probably a few miniguns and rocket lauchers as well. So basically what I'm saying is, anyone with a match and a galon of gas can kill people. Hell, you dont even need to go that far. Running over people with a car is even cheaper. Doesnt matter, at the end of it all, all that is proven is that the murderer is a coward who couldn't help but kill himself knowing he wont be able to retaliate. And in every single tragedy that happened, like Vegas, like Columbine, like wherever, the guy suicides.

This could scarcely be less relevant if it was about unicorns and mermaids. The rest of your response is frankly rambling nonsense, most of which is either wrong or yet again irrelevant. What I tried to say is, there is no control for uncontrollable people.
sivispacem
What I tried to say is, there is no control for uncontrollable people. Denying "uncontrollable people" ready and easy access to high powered semi-automatic firearms definitely limits their ability to kill extremely large numbers of people, though. Of the dozen or so highest casualty rampages perpetrated in the last 30 years, every one has involved a firearm and all but one has used a firearm as the primary weapon.
