Ok, i cannot even do a VIP run, without someone jumping in that jet, and blowing me to high heaven.

Is that jet free, and if so why???

I am offline right now since ive got to get some VIP work done....

Ive tried jumping out and misseling it, but never hit it once....

Can the Vigiliante take out the Jet that rains all kind of hell down on us??

But now i am back online in free mode trying it again....LOL!!!!!

The Fort Zancudo jet is free (steal it) but I'm assuming you're talking about the Hydra which is buyable (and I believe it's around the $3 million dollar mark - I may be wrong, haven't checked the price in ages). There's a lot of ways to take out any jet such as Heavy Sniper rifle, explosive bullets, RPG/homing launcher, minigun, weaponized vehicles...Vigilante isn't required to take a jet out but it can take it out if used creatively.

Explosive Rounds for the Heavy Sniper MKII is currently the most effective way (taking only two shots) to down either a Lazer, Hydra or any other aircraft (excluding the Cargobob and Savage) pre-Smugglers Run.

One word: Oppressor.

I just use a Buzzard or a Savage but I'm actually a helicopter irl. #helisexuality

BST increases damage done to vehicles

If I use bst will it then take only 1 explosive round shot to kill a jet rather than 2? Edited by StangOne50

tbh I've always shot them down before I remember BST exists, I'm a crap tryhard :D

I think so though, yes. Gaffa will have the stat somewhere in the GR weapon data thread iirc.

I am incredibly Happy about this. There is a way to deal with this.

So, i have to buy a bunker, research explosive rounds, right?

You will also need a Mobile Operations Center with the Weapon Workshop in order to upgrade the Heavy Sniper to its MKII variant.

Unfortunately no, Hydra still took 2 shots. It'll be the same for other non-armoured planes.

"If I may add my voice to the conversation;"

"When you purchase a Bunker & MOC you'll get the option to research items (Explosive Rounds, etc.) which you can use to combat the Hydras of your server, however, you cannot select which item to research as the researching system is randomized. I highly suggest purchasing a Bunker, purchasing upgrades for your bunker, and then "rubber-banding" your controller as researching an item can take a while."

"My own personal way of combating Hydras is by using my HVY-Insurgent. Equipped with its heavy armor upgrade, its mounted .50 caliber Gatling Gun, and proximity mines, you'll be well suited to take on anything a person can throw at you."

Why don't you just do a VIP run in a Jet yourself? It's the most effective way to do it anyway. And yeah, the Zankudo one is free, but you have to train in stealing it since you will have stars - there are plenty of guides on youtube.

Vigilante is fragile. You can kill a jet with this thing, but it's tricky to lock it on.

PS

Explosive sniper won't help you against a pilot equipped with thermal vision via the glitch. But it's your best bet. If you don't have the explosive rounds yet, Heavy Sniper with BST works as good. And it's cheaper./

Welcome to Free mode it is not just jets you have to watch out for all sorts like flying motorbikes, if you can beat them join them use the same tools to do VIP runs.

Is that jet free, and if so why???

The only fighter jet that you can get free is the Laser stolen from the Fort, if you have a hanger there you can just borrow them at ease. But most veteran player's will own a fleet of planes.

I am offline right now since ive got to get some VIP work done....

Ive tried jumping out and misseling it, but never hit it once....

Spotting it early is the trick always be aware of where risks are check the expanded mini map often if you see a jet coming prepare yourself.

The homing launcher is easily avoided by good pilots but can be used to force the pilot to do maneuvers to avoid the missile giving you opportunity to either find cover or take pot shots with the explosive sniper , A trick I use if on foot is find good cover where you can be sheltered from most angles most importantly from directly above. Balconies in the city, tunnel entrances ,caves etc. This forces the jet to either give up or take risks to get a firing angle.

Can the Vigiliante take out the Jet that rains all kind of hell down on us??

Yes it can! I have taken out a few, but the vigilante really is the underdog in that situation like being on foot you need to use the environment to your advantage and you are screwed if it can attack from directly above.

But now i am back online in free mode trying it again....LOL!!!!!

Find a empty ish quiet lobby is the best advice I can give less people = less people trying to screw you up.

To be honest, you really don't need any training. All you need to do is take off without gaining much altitude at all (the height of the perimeter fence) and once you're outside of that perimeter, you can gain altitude. There's at least 3 jets which can be accessed without having much issue with enemy AI. Been doing that since 2013.

Or take off whilst looking behind.

Or spend five grand on a call to Lester.

FMJ rounds are good against vehicles too.

If you're gonna add your voice, make sure what you're saying is right. Yes it's randomised, but there is a way to keep resetting until you get something you want: http://gtaforums.com/topic/889350-psa-influence-research-item-choice/
