One thing I don't get about cargo warehouses

I looked for the answer but could not find it; feel free to answer me yourself or throw me a link to an already existing explanation.

Why are large warehouses better than small warehouses? Both have to be filled up with cargo. Both pay upon completion of the delivery. Large warehouse pays much, much more, yes, but only because you can deliver much more cargo in one go. You still need to collect that cargo. Why is making one large delivery better than making multiple small ones?

Lets say that I spend XXX amount of time supplying my small warehouse with cargo. I fill it up with 16 boxes, deliver it and earn my money, about $240k. Then I can start resupplying again and deliver again, making another $240k. With large warehouse I would spend XXX more time supplying (large warehouse holds 111 boxes, yes?) and then, after a lot of time, make the delivery and earn... I don't know how much, million - two millions? That is a lot more money but: A) for more, much more effort and B) delivery is much, much more risky. Can't I just fill up my small warehouse and deliver those 16 boxes for lesser monetary gain but much more often? Won't I make, over time, the same amount of cha-ching for the same effort but with much less risk involved?

Players have a choice depending on how much money they have. Wanna go big? Splash out on a large warehouse, get more dosh back. Some people that do the occasional crate collection here and there don't really need a large warehouse, so they have the choice of a small or medium one.

The value of each crate goes up the more you collect, up to a maximum of 20k per crate when you've filled up a large warehouse. This is one of those rare instances where it's better to actually sell at the highest amount since you technically get paid more per hour than if you fill up and sell a small/medium warehouse instead.

With Bikers, Gunrunning and Smuggler's Run it didnt really make too much of a difference since you could sell smaller shipments every few hours and still eventually make the same amount as a full shipment in one go. With crates though it's best to slowly fill up a large warehouse while doing other money making activities too to maximize earnings potential. Doing crates non stop with VIP Work in between will make you want to stop playing the game. Don't do that.

That explains everything. Thank you. Hmm... think I might splurge for a large warehouse myself. Hopefully there'll be a Halloween sale for these. If not, I'll wait a week or two for a random sale, might get lucky. In the meantime, to the vehicle warehouse! *nananana Carman*

Cheapest large warehouse is 1.9m east of the airport right around the docks area, pretty solid imo.

Use it as a supplemental income to vehicle cargo/VIP Work and when you get around to it, bunker sales (easy 210k every 2.5 hours).

The best thing to do with those are to get 2 medium sized ones, so you can do missions one after the other, 1st for one, then for the other, until you reach 28 boxes and then sell, if you go any higher than that, you might get 3 vehicles to sell, or the titan mission which sucks because if you crash it, you lose ALL your cargo, so do what i said, and fill until 28 28, then sell, best deal.

Sounds good but I think I'll pass. I like to do other things than grinding cargo, and I have a friend to play with so having 2 or even 3 vehicles for delivery isn't a problem. My friend is a good pilot, too :D.

Back and forth between two large is even better and more profitable but obviously more time consuming and costly to even set up.

The sales aren't all too difficult provided you do them in an empty public lobby. None of them are impossible to solo.

By the way, how often do the Special Items pop up? I have a small warehouse for over a week now and my assistant never called me about any.

It's random really but you slightly increase your chances of getting the call if you collect crates continuously.

It`s every 100 crates or so you can buy one special cargo crate. I have three large warehouses and a small one to store the special crates if im to lazy to sell them right away. All 3 of them are half full i make them full if we ever get a +25% money bonus for them. You don`t get raided if you stay under 50%.

The problem with the special crates is the assistant not always calls you and you might miss the chance to get them.

It is NOT every 100, it is random, but my chances were every 20 boxes or so.

I bought crates (either 1,2, or 3) 539 times and 16 of those were Rare Cargos. ~1:33.

It happens faster if you do more crates per purchase and also if you bind them in batches instead of just a couple times per day.

Always look at the top of the purchase screen in case you have the opportunity for a Rare item and the secretary was taking a smoke break or staring at her diploma instead of calling you about it

.Diana McFarland.

Because the time spent having to sell more often with a small warehouse could be spent filling up a 2 large warehouses or 1 multiple times

I own four large warehouses on my main character plus a medium one for the special items that pop up now and again. I've fiddled around with almost everything and if you're going for a large warehouse consider the following:

There's a smooth and fast traffic route down the right-hand side of the map that takes you wide of the city centre and mostly out of trouble. Down that 'line' there are a number of really well placed warehouses.

#. Darnell Brothers Warehouse - La Mesa (north)

Possibly the best located warehouse on the map, but VERY pricey.

$3.5 M

#. Logistics Department - La Mesa (south)

Further down the 'line' and just past the crossroads. A bit pricey but very easy access and perfect for helicopter landing.

$2.6 M

#. Wholesale Furniture - Cypress Flats

Even further down the 'line' but with easy and smooth access, and a VERY good price.

This was my surprise discovery and a real find.

$1.9 M

There's a fourth warehouse even further down the 'line', the 'Cypress Flats Warehouse', but it's very pricey and doesn't justify the 3.265 Million price tag IMO.

If you're on a budget and looking for a great warehouse with easy access: WholeSale Funiture at 1.9M.

Darnell Bros. is hands down the best crate warehouse overall, large or otherwise. It's the only one conveniently located right around the center of the city and has very convenient access. I just recently bought this one ~ 6 months ago after deciding to take a stab at alternating crate pickups between two large warehouses, just to see what it's like.

Surprisingly I filled up both quicker than it used to take me to fill one large with VIP Work between each three crate pickup. Obviously very grindy and time consuming but it works when you're in the mood for doing nothing but crates and don't feel like having to do VIP Work between every pickup (even moreso when in public crew sessions). 3.1m profit for 8/9 hours of work. Not too shabby.

Darnell Bros. is actually the most expensive large warehouse (and overall) as well due to its convenience. Very worth it though. The other large warehouse I own is the cheapest one (Wholesale Furniture) which also has very convenient access but it's located too south of the map for my convenience. I bought it around the time FAFF came out though and I was on a very tight budget at the time.

If you're on a budget, Wholesale Furniture will more than serve your needs. Literally the only downside is its down south location but other than that it's got great outside access. Darnell Bros. is the way to go when you have a healthy enough bank balance.

Landing helicopters here is annoying though, as the corona is tucked under the canopy next to the telegraph pole. Logistics Depot is far superior in this respect.

^ Just land the helicopter slightly outside of it and walk in. I never land the helicopter directly inside the corona even at Darnell Bros.

You don`t get raided if you stay under 50%.

It is actually safe under 80%

I also read somewhere it`s 65% so what is now? 50, 65 or 80% anybody knows the real number?

It would take 7 full small warehouse sales to match the volume of 1 full large warehouse sale

The difference is

7 x $240k = $1,680,000

1 full large warehouse =$2,220,000

Pretty much. Further proving that crates go up in value the more you collect them.

80%

Even above 80% you're safe if you are paying attention to cargo warehouses (any, not just the one you're nearing capacity with) and keep adding crates to them and not doing non-crate work. It's not as bad as the Biker businesses that can get raided as soon as you walk out the door with only a small amount of product or supplies inside.

Also, you can solo a full 111-crate sale, under most circumstances. You may have to fly multiple aircraft or multiple trucks or scout ahead and destroy NPCs in your own aircraft first, but it's not literally impossible to complete in time, alone, like some full-sales are of Biker Businesses or Smuggling or Gunrunning.

I've done 7 full-warehouse (111 or 42) sales and never had a associate with me*. That includes Titans, Cubans, Brickades, and the Tug.

*I had one partial-warehouse sale with an associate with Cuban 800s and one full-sale with a non-associate friend in his Buzzard that blew up attacking players.

I always sell my large warehouse alone, particulary if the Titan spawn, it would ruin my pleasure if someone else piloted it.

Anyway during those aerial sales, the defender has most of the time a figurative role, just fire a few Homing Missiles and thats all.

Sometimes NPC ambush you, and thats pretty much the same thing, defender has to nuke NPC with explosive rounds. I do it myself, because its just more enjoyable.

I don't often sell a large warehouse, so I like to enjoy every moment of it. Probably one of the rarest mission you can play in GTA.

Doing crates non stop with VIP Work in between will make you want to stop playing the game. Don't do that.

So much truth in this statement. Doing this, along with the amount of times my titan plane has crashed (8 to be exact) made me hate cargo warehouses. I may CONSIDER doing it again if its double.

I see the appeal of large warehouses, then I think about the amount of time I have to put in filling it up all the way :(

If you are going to grind.. crates is still the best imho, 2 large warehouses and you can fund every update that ever comes, (if you are willing to grind). I don't need to use them anymore but I have them.. just in case. The two closest large near Arcadius is what I used, plenty space to dive land a hydra next to both of them. I used to fill both large together so they reached 100% at the same time then sell them both solo (or with one friend) back to back.

This damn thread got me doing crates again.

I wouldn't mind if R* introduced to Special Cargo that new SR code where you can blow up the van and grab crates individually...

That would be a game changer for crates so much to the point where I think they wouldn't even care to consider it lol
