Been playing Driv3r & GTAVC since July and i always wondered which map and atmosphere is closer to real-life Miami, even more since i've read somewhere someone said how Driver Parallel Lines depicted NYC better than GTAIV, so i wonder if it's the same with Miami. I can't seem to tell which looks better, and from what i've seen in movies, YT and StreetView, real-life Miami looks like a combination of Driv3r rendition and both Vice City renditions.

So what do you think?

I think you already found your answer. Neither is close to the real Miami and you can only see a better resemblance when they are combined.

You're probably right. Nevertheless i was just exploring Driv3r Miami again and it seems this version is closer to real-life in terms of buildings and some landmarks like the Freedom Tower (dint notice it in VC), but when it comes to roads and where some landmarks and districts are placed, both seem to have many misplaced places compared to in real life

I think Vice City is better for capturing an iconic cartoon-Miami culture from the 80's. It's the entertainment and stereotype of Miami. Whereas Miami in Driv3r is more like a more realistic depiction of a place. I like Vice City's as a concept and visual representation of the "glitz and glam" of a criminal underworld in that environment as apposed to Miami only as a city to facilitate a crime-based story.

Vice City's strengths are about capturing a time and place moreso than being realistic in terms of what buildings or canals etc were included. I think that sometimes I would prefer that than an genuine attempt at faithful recreation.

I did really enjoy Driv3r though so I'm not ragging on that game.

How about Scarface: The World Is Yours. Did you play that? Also maybe you can add some videos or screenshots for comparison in your original post.

Didnt play Scarface but i'll try adding pics. Unfortunately the PC on which i have GTAVC is currently dead, while i play Driv3r on my laptop, but couldn't install VC on the same so i'll probably have to dig some pics on internet

EDIT: Cant take screenshots in Driv3r somehow the print screen button isnt working and if i take a pic with my phone my hands will probably shake a bit

Miami felt really dull in Driv3r. In fact, all three maps in that game felt lifeless and boring. They were excellent recreations of real locations, but I think any GTA map is better in many other ways.

Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder...

...why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?

Definitely Vice City. VCS felt too cartoonish with its over abundance of neons. Vice City felt like watching Scarface before Scarface got its own game.;)

Dont remember much of Driv3r other than it was mediocre at best so its depiction of Miami is lost on me.

Vice City by far. Driv3r's depiction of Miami is lifeless.

As someone who played Driv3r a lot, I'd say it's Miami was good. From a visual point of view though. The city is completely lifeless and there's literally nothing to do except steal cars and fight cops.

All three cities in Driv3r look good and are pretty diverse and big considering the time the game came out, but it is so lifeless and boring outside of missions.

I actually think Driver 1's Miami is the best Miami. Something about the colour scheme, places they chose to replicate and the late 90's styled traffic really does it for me.

Come to think of it, i think Las Vegas and New York in the original Driver are incredibly good too. San Francisco is also good but Miami, Las Vegas and New York really stood out for me.

I can't really decide because i never played the Driver game. Although comparing with Scarface and Vice city. Scarface takes it because of the realistic resemble of both. Vice city gives us the flavor of excess 80s Miami which i f*cking love. Scarface is a good game, I love the soundtrack, I actually expect R* to add some songs from this game onto the next illustration of modern day Vice city.
