'You are holding onto more than 5k in cash...'

Everytime you go over 5k in cash, this thing pops up. But the truth is, even having less than 5k can get mugged off you right?

If I remember rightly, when online first came out, when you had more than 5k in cash, everytime you died you dropped 500, and this could be stolen/picked-up by other players? Is that correct? I assume that's what the message actualy relates to.

Its just a reminder to bank your money so you dont lose it.

You can get mugged for $0-$10,000.

Im not sure about the last part.

Im pretty sure if a player kills you the most he can pick up is 500 but idk if you lose anything else. I will have to check next time.

What I do is stop for a few seconds and just make a deposit.

Better safe than sorry.

And yes if I Pasa Ta mi Squee you and all the cash you have not deposited drops and I can just pick it up.

Please always make the deposit buddy.

So you're confirming that you drop cash when killed in Free Mode? Current gen.

Yes.

But I was testing earlier and got some odd results.

When I killed myself and had over 100K in hand I did not seem to lose any money.

When cops killed me and I had 100K in hand I lost 200 from bank and 200 from cash.

When cops killed me with all my money banked I lost 500.

I am sure if you have over a certain amount, possibly 5-10K and a player kills you, you will drop money and he can pick it up.

To be on the safe side, just always try to bank your money.

Ok, like i was doing a VIP Mission, site seer.

He tried to ambush me, he screwed up, then i tagged him, got out of my car after then ran towards him and all the sudden i saw 7k added to me...and it made that sound when you pick up something....then in got the 25k for doing site seer in time...

Players drop no money in freeroam AFAIK. It was removed fairly early - also hospital bills, which I seem to recall could hit $5k.

The original mugger limit was 2 or 3K iirc, upped to 10 a while back (10% of what you're holding up to 10k). This is what the tooltip refers to.

Unless it was changed very recently they absolutely drop money on PS4 at least. I pick up money from afk players I have killed quite often.

Maybe they drop the same $21 or whatever that any dead body drops? I don't pay enough attention to my bank balance :)

Plus I've lost my decades-old instinct to go collect whatever that dead person dropped after so much gtao.
