Remaining idol tactics no longer working? (xbox)

Last few days, I've noticed that trying to remain idol in my bunker or office doesn't work. Whether I watch CCTV, or have my guy walk around in circles, for some reason, the game kicks me for being idol. I even noticed that whilst my character was walking in circles, he suddenly stopped despite the controller sticks still being held in position.

 

Has there been an update, or is my game/console just acting odd?? It's happened a few times now, so not just a one off! And no, I don't do this during missions etc to farm money. It's only when I need to nip away to do something so my research can continue ticking over.

Im not sure why people have a problem with this - I am also XB1

 

Just plug charger in, turn control upside down and lay on table with the sticks positioned to make your character turn in circles.

 

I resupply bunker and MC stuff do this, go out for a couple of hours, come back, resupply, do the same if not playing

That's the thing, my controller is always plugged in. I don't use batteries. After the security camera thing failed, I went back to using rubber bands around the joysticks method lol, but it's as if the game knows...

It changed a few days/weeks back though. Rubber banding, even while plugged in with a data cable, will time out after 15 minutes.
