Why is driving in GTA games so good

on the topic of bikes the way IV balanced bikes was AMAZING, if you want more grip and manuevarebility use a chopper if you want more speed use a sport bike, in V they all handle the same and the best bike is the fastest bike, no nuance, I remember learning to drift with the double t custom in TLAD and winning races in a totally 'rad fashion ,you had to apply different strategies for the type of bike you were using, in V there's no reason to use a sanchez offroad when a hacuchou handles the exact same only faster, or a hexer instead of a bati through sharp corners because it has f*cking antigravity technology, in V there's literally one factor when it comes to driving and that is speed ,the same for cars as well why use an ACTUAL offroad car OFFROAD when you can use supercar.hopefully they try to make it better next time.

In my opinion the only game that can compete with GTA: San Andreas in terms of arcade driving is Driver: Parallel Lines.

GTA IV has driving physics out of this world, and I struggle to find an equivalent racing game that can compete with it.

Driving is agreable in GTA Vice City but in GTA 3 and San Andreas only a few vehicles are agreable to drive with their vanilla handling. Fortunately I'm on PC so I can easily enhance the handling

GTA 4 was where I had the most fun driving cars in a video game. The control and physics of the cars blend in with the environment.

I noticed something weird in 3d era games compared to V. In 3, VC & SA when AI cars drive fast, they make sharp turns at the same high speed, even when it's sharper than 90°, until you start to drive any car yourself. In V it's similar, only slower cars depending on area and also applies to the cars player is driving. My eyes still cant believe it

Everybody is talking about the cars, but what about motorcycles? That's where the sh*t really hits the fan: In IV you never have enough grip, but in V it's glued to the ground and you can't lean to the sides in road bikes (not that you would have to). I think V:s motorcycles are total crap. It's like they did the SR 2 mechanics on them. But I have to agree with the OP, it's even worse with Ubisoft titles.

I will go out on a limb here and admit the motorcycle physics in IV were thrash, making them not diserable to use whenever I wanted, but I always was a car-guy.

In V, I can use motorcycles but it feels ridiculous to see how much INSANE is the level of traction and acceleration they have, I can outrun a sports car in a 60's hillclimbing chopper with a chained back wheel, it makes no sense to me at all.

They nailed the motorcycle physics in San Andreas IMO, that was when they hit the sweet spot, taking the highways with a chopper in that game was a pleasure.
