Does non-contact have catchup?

Serious question, I was doing a race with bicycles and despite me using the same bike as everyone else and tapping on X everyone else flew past me while i was coming first? wut.

yeah no sh*t,it's just a little odd when somehow bicycles are going the speed of light when catch-up is supposedly 'off'. just because we turn it off doesn't mean that r* have added something on their end to make catch-up part of any race type despite it being not as noticeable. it's definitely a possibility

i was going to but i had already done a couple races with that lobby so i knew it would be over soon

Most of the times there's no slipstream or catch-up when its non-contact. Only time those are on is when there premium races.

i agreed that it's "disabled" but it doesn't mean it actually is 100%. i've started noticing 'this' recently, i race all the time, it's not as if ive raced for the first time ever and just been blown away by the results. I'm interested in knowing if anyone knows if theres code that has enabled a weak catch-up or if there was some kind of issue on my end, especially since im on ps4 so i know it's not framerate

I have no idea about bicycles but I've sometimes wondered if something glitch out I car races and slipstream and catchup is somehow active. Me and my friends usually only race non contact and sometimes I've seen something that reminds me of the slipstream lines and on last Friday a friend in the party chat asked if slipstream wasn't disabled in non contact.

I've also noticed that sometimes it seems like my friends are closing in on me really fast when I'm in the lead but some of us are on the same 'skill level' and I didn't make any mistakes that should make them be able to close in on me so fast, so it felt like a contact race with catchup on but it was non contact.

So I've had a feeling a little while that something is glitching in or what I should call it and it seems like some of my friends also start to notice something.

 

Sometimes I feel like the steering doesn't work like it should either, I pull my stikk all the way to the side but the car go almost straight ahead. Could maybe be my controller but maybe someone here have noticed the same as me? I'm on ps4 btw

If its the Whippet or any other race bike, hold R1 and forward on the analog stick for more aerodynamics.

Catchup doesn't make the trailing vehicles faster anyway. It slows down whoever is in the lead.

Honestly, if it gave the rear players a speed boost half that - or on the level of - the slipstream boost, that could satisfy a lot of people's complaints. Whoever thought it's a good idea to slow down people at the front obviously never lead a race.

I hate these fkn options. Just yesterday I battled my way through a race dealing with these f*cktards that think we are playing bumper cars. Got ran off the road idk how many times until I could get up front. Led the entire second lap only to have some fkn nitwit slipstream past me at the finish line.

Sometimes I will join and leave like 10 races just lookin for one with non contact but rarely find them.
