Enjoyable enough, won 4 out of the 5 I've played so far and made a reasonable chunk of cash (though I still think these payouts should be normal amounts not 2x)

First race in f*cking forever, full contact and remembered why I don't play this game very much anymore

GMNcX5G.jpg

ducking catchup and slipstream making me feel like I was crawling forward

still wound up winning and netted myself 50k

now the host turned contact off and the races were much more peaceful

owj3OUA.jpg

f*cked up on this one cause I opened my chute way to damn early and that set me back from 1st to 8th

YnAW8Zr.jpg

really enjoyed this one tbh

VK4rjRx.jpg

this sh*t was trippy

EhHvNSN.gif

last race I played because the f*cking host set it to 4 laps which took forever as you can see

1gfRQzA.jpg

why a 20 minute race earned me less cash than a race half as short with 1 more player is beyond me...

I enjoyed them as well. Only played five tracks. The oppressor races killed me because I don't own my own so my experience on one is low. I did pretty good in the races that did not include the oppressor.

Can't wait to play them with crew and friends.

they're okay. i played through all of them solo and i listed all the vehicles you need. thankfully it's usually the same vehicles. i prefer when it's switching from car to motorbike, i dont care for the aircrafts tbh

Played a good number of them so far, and they're pretty sh*tty for the most part. Just more of Rockstar's simple and boring track design intended to impress children who think never ever letting go of the gas button is great and fun racing. Plummet 3? Are they proud of their "Plummet" series of races or something? Like lmao imagine taking a huge sh*t and putting those velvet ropes around it like it was a priceless art piece or something. Oh and Vinewood Thrills? Literally nothing but f*cking straights with the most unnecessary warp point usage. It was like they thought "well f*ck we gotta showcase the warp feature somehow let's just have you go through like 20 of them for absolutely no reason". Then there's that one race with the 2mph Marquis section holy sh*t I could feel the boredom actually killing me. There's another race where you drive a semi down one end of the LS River then ride a bike all the way back up the other end with absolutely nothing going on. A lot of these races are like that. Just long stretches of f*cking nothing. Pretty much all the flying sections are just flying through a bunch of rings. Rockstar's so creatively bankrupt they've looked to Superman 64 for inspiration lmao.

Also I just love how they plastered Shark Card branding on some of the new stunt props. They were already long past the point of being subtle about it but it's still pretty funny regardless. Really that's all transform races are tbh. Just a way to make people buy a bunch of expensive vehicles that would see no f*cking use anywhere else to drive up Shark Card sales. The only exciting thing about Transform Races are the potential tracks made for multi-class racing. Not like those will end up being the C* verified tracks when the time comes for that though lol.

Oh, and C* seriously needs to understand that motorcycles handle like ass in the tubes already.

The baseball and basketball one are cool, obviously ideas taken from jobs the community has already created.

Found these two and the large dragon to be some of their most creative stuff to date. Also, I'm pleased they added freefalling and parachuting as transform checkpoints.
Do you remember which races parachuting was in? I wanna try those.

My mind has gone dead at the moment. Think one of'em was with the Coil Rocket Voltic. I'll have to check later, at work at the moment :p

The knife flight checkpoints was cool and so the warp ones!

Hope we get the creator next Friday! If im not totally wrong the stunt creator was released a Friday! The off-road was best one so far! So tired of all supercar races! But as someone else pointed out the was some races that used some vehicles to often!

Did about 7 or 8 of these last night. I think they are pretty fun, just wish the plane sections were more interesting. They should have made some really tight quarter sections for planes to fly through. I plan on playing these more while they are x2 just so I can try them all out.

That one is pretty neat, the end with the bicycle through the canal is deadly boring though and RSI provoking lol.

If they just warped you onto Mount Chilliad, it would've been fun.

Plummet 3 is terrible, I flew my Schafter miles and miles over the second last checkpoint. Most tracks lack creativity. There's so much more possible.

How is it even possible that the same company that brought us the Midnight Club series thinks that this Transform Race sh*t is ok?

Oh, and, I'm not sure if anyone realizes, but nobody is going to go bum money off their mom to be able to buy more vehicles for these races when they're so glitchy and broken.

I tried a few. Wasn't feeling it. Then the kids played. I would have thought this was right up their alley but it's all thumbs down from the peanut gallery. It was bad enough that they went and played outside.

For those who think these appeal to kids... they don't. The races are poor regardless of your age, my 12 year quit after two races because they were just 'boring'.

It is poor implementation rather than targeting the wrong audience that lets these races down.

I'm not a fan of any races in this game EXCEPT street races which I cannot find people to play with. I want realistic gaming experience. But I found all others prefer stunts. Well, anyway, innovation like transform races is a good thing.

Transform races are much much better than cunning stunts. Stunt Races are boring after the first couple of play. So many of the typical complaints, yet in the same sentence will say many here are saying player created stuff will be better. I have never seen a player created map of anything in gta as good a mediocore R* race. Players dont have all the tools, so maybe thats a justification, but really player made races. They are 99% of the time the worst.

This update and probably going back at least 5, to me its another update that targets the unexperienced and/in favor of the long time players.

These races are a ton of fun. The courses themselves, from what I've played, are very well put together and are visually interesting. I feel like at this point in time, players are spoiled don't appreciate what Rockstar add. This is content that doesn't profit Rockstar like freemode purchases do. Even from someone who's not a fan of racing I think this is a great gamemode and can't wait to see what other people make in the future.

They've already changed to of the races (Warped and Slalom). Now you have a longer spawn protection after changing vehicles and going through the teleports.

They do though. If you want to not be at a disadvantage, you have to buy every vehicle they use in these races.

The new races are pretty decent. They're a fun distraction, especially with the 2x cash and RP. I like the fact that it includes air, sea, car, motorcycle, and even bicycle and parachute, basically all modes of GTA travel, putting every type of racing skill to the test (not a particularly hard test, but still) all in one race. I also like that there's a little strategy involved in hitting the transform checkpoints, controlling the altitude, direction, and tilt of your vehicle for a quick smooth transition to the new vehicle without losing speed or control.

My biggest complaint is the same as all stunt races. I wish they added some tracks that focus a little more on cornering and braking, a little less on max speed. The flying sections in particular need more challenging turns, more obstacles, more something. Even compared to the original air races, the flying in transform races is just too easy. Another gripe is about the warps. I think they're gimmicky and unnecessary. I also noticed a few checkpoints that could have been placed better.

All in all, these new races are a good time. If you can fill a lobby and finish in the top 3, they're also very profitable right now. Transform races aren't a game changer by any means, but they've helped me regain my interest in the game after it hit an all time low thanks to the depressingly small payouts of the smuggling business.

You say players don't have the tools to create a race that is as good as a mediocre R* created race but I've never seen a R* created race that a mediocre race creator can't create.

Not trying to be a prick here but have you even played many player created races? I know there's lots of bad races out there but if you're a little in to racing you surely have had to played player created races that are better than R* created?

The fact that R* also uses player created races as a inspiration says imo that players create better races than R*

I have played loads and 99% are awful. They are sooo bad. At one point, I played playlists with people on a regular basis that was nothing but player created races. And as I said 99% are garbage, I am sure there are good ones out there, but you have seek them out and play the garbage to find the gems. Just like I am sure there are good crews out there, but trying to wade through a swamp in the hope that there is a gem, nah I'll pass because the first couple of chances I gave failed to live up to the expectations. I have had player created quick jobs turned off since I could, and have not found an unplaybable race yet.

I literally tried one race and got bored. I'm not a fan of all these gimmicky/unrealisitic/hot wheel 'stunt' races. I've always preferred street/track racing which is why I'm looking forward to the new Gran Turismo :)

Players do have all the tools. Believe it or not, the Rockstar created stunt races are made with no more pieces than the players are limited to. And I disagree that no player created maps are as good as the Rockstar created ones. Many are dross, but there are a few gems out there, and let's face it, the Rockstar ones, especially the first batch like Vespucci, City Air etc are pretty amateurish. The second release tracks are marginally better, but I bet I could make something as good as anything Rockstar puts out. I (and others) were making those tube to quarter-pipe style wall rides as seen in Green Machine months and months before Rockstar released them. Edited by Big Molio

No they dont, there are ways for R* to remove items in game, players cannot. Not to mention the use of a mouse for placement. Two minor things that can make a race from good to unplayable. R* can do whatever they want, thats why they create new props, cars, and all kinds of things...players are limited to what R* allows. But even if we had all the tools, I would probably find most of the races to be garbage, but more would be better. I think players ideas are often great, but players are limited to execution.

I can't even bring myself to log on and try them. To me the whole concept sounds childish and moronic.

Do you have any proof of what you're saying regarding the limitations on creating?

Rockstar have been known to remove certain props such as lamp posts, trash cans, etc during some of the classic Land Races.

I admit it, I'm a racing snob. Yes, I know, I should stick to Project Cars or Gran Turismo if I want a proper racing experience, but to me, there is a fine line between say races with a few jumps, narrow passages, or even a good bit of chaos and the ones that fall under the Stunt Race label. I can even stomach certain races with GTA settings and weapons, but I have a growing sense of utter disdain for these overly gimmicky style tracks that solely rely on the placement of props and artificial or elevated platform roads. I gave Stunt Races a chance back in the day, but they ultimately left me frustrated, disappointed, and of course, longing to play actual races on a regular basis again. Rockstar even managed to f*ck up Premium Races by locking them to non-contact + slipstream. Ugh, don't even get me started there!

Before the Cunning Stunts update, stunt races were created and promoted by certain segments of creator crews. Have a look at the top played custom jobs for PS3/PS4 and XB360/XB1 and you will see plenty of them - most were crafted using elevated box container props and feature a mix of jumps and stunts that will easily force you to respawn if you are unlucky or don't know the track or the methods required to complete the jumps/stunts/whatever. Many of them feature some sort of makeshift wall-riding endeavour or being forced into taking some ridiculous leap into the sky that cannot be completed without the aid of pickup boosts (that can only be activated when the race is set to GTA mode). Granted, there are many of them that obviously took lots of time and effort to create, but I (and more serious racers) find them to be rather painful to endure. We used to roll our eyes when we would accidentally get sucked into playing one and think, "wow, how can anyone enjoy this sort of torture".

Now this sort of thing has taken complete priority and actual race tracks are the fading novelty; the difference being that creators no longer have to glitch prop placement to create these races - they are 100x easier to create thanks to the Cunning Stunts DLC, have hundreds of more prop options, and R* makes it nearly impossible to find randomly hosted races that do not consist of stunting. It makes me ill; if I bother trying to host an actual race, I'm lucky if I get one random person to join at times.

Anyway, yes, I did try a few of these the other night, but I'm sorry; I just cannot seem to enjoy them. R* creators should really learn about proper CP placement; it's as irritating as f*ck when you haven't the time to react the next CP and the air racing segments seem to employ the absolute worst CP placement overall. It grinds my gears too when I'm forced to respawn because of terrible and illogical prop placement; I also shouldn't have to watch a YouTube video beforehand to know what to avoid or whether or not I should lay off the accelerator when approaching a stunt.

I suppose that some, perhaps lots of people enjoy these sort of races and that's fine, but I just end up frustrated beyond the point of comprehension when playing them. It's like I said in a previous post, I could get on board if this weren't solely centered around stunt tracks and stunt props, but that's pretty much all it is and once again, regular races are being pushed further and further away, neglected, and mostly forgotten.

Also, yes, decent user created races can be difficult to find at times, but they are out there and many of them are aeons ahead of any race created by R*. Have a look at the jobs from dedicated racing crews, the creator section of this forum, or just ask around. If you're into racing and you have the opportunity to play a well-made custom track, you will easily see just how R* created tracks fail in comparison.

I don't understand the complaints about checkpoints.

Only checkpoint that I have problems with is the plummet 3 one just before finish. You can easily fly over it.

That is the only checkpoint that I have missed and I have played these races over 10 hours now.

I heard a youtber mention a player creator dev tool that allows removal...found in pc code. Anyone who has tried to use the creator must admit a mouse would make things better. I think I have may touched on one of the many gtaforum myths, player created content is good and is a reason many still play, thats a huge no.

I like most of the transform races, some are bad, but everyone of them is better than most if not all of cunning stunt tracks.

uhm that's a huge yes.

in fact most LTS games that are being played are player created ones.

even rockstar made some adversary modes based on player created jobs.

they are even a few transform races based on player created content.

player created content is a huge factor in what is being played and what isn't.

Maybe true for a small amount of people. I have played many great ideas, but the same goes for other modes, players simply do not have the tools to create a great map. Then again mindcraft isnt my thing, and I although I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into making a halfway decent race, it doesnt make me any less frustrated when playing their wonky creation. I am glad its an option, but I personally find most user created content to be a big negative. When R* allowed us to only quick job R* content it made my experience better.
