Pretty fun. Only thing I hate are the damn helicopters.

No Use For A Name

Tired one and finished in last place thanks to a neon green Besra that crashed into me twice. They seem fun; Ill probably test all the tracks solo tomorrow.

I've played the one called McKenzie twice and when riding the aqua blazer I'm unable to lower the wheels so can't complete the race? Pushed right dpad 100 times and nothing... works fine outside this race... frustrating... anyone seen this happen?

You click the left stick in for the wheels I think

Unfortunately the race creator would be limited to 10 Transform Vehicles.

Is that 10 vehicle selection total?

Or 10 per race?

And is that a fact/leak or speculation?

So ... I bought the planes that are on discount right now and upgraded them for those races. I haven't done proper testing yet, but it seems to me that there is no advantage at all when flying in personal aircraft. Top speed seems to be the same as the stock versions and you don't need any handling upgrades because you're flying in straight lines or long turns all the time. 10 Mios spend for nothing!

Nothing to do with the GTA concept!! Kids side game that shouldn't be nowhere near this game! Cheap and tacky!

It's kid sh*t.

Shouldn't be in GTA. I wanna pop some fools, not race around like an idiot and barely get paid for my time. I much prefer hiding in the subway in Fortified over racing, coming in 6 cause of douchebags and barely getting paid squat.

Only did one race last night so not willing to entirely write the whole thing off yet but that one race left me feeling rather underwhelmed...and then realizing catch up was on as the other guy streaked ahead at the last fifty meters for the win did not help matters.

Everyone doing these transform races with contact on are doing it wrong. It's no wonder why these races left you with such a bad taste in your mouth.

I've played several hours and have raced each track multiple times...bullet points below:

*Planes actually slow the pace of the race and those ridiculous Havocs bring it to a grinding halt. Every time I see the helicopter icon I just want to quit

*Non-Contact is the only way to play but then it just feels empty and slow...if the person at the start of the pack has each vehicle they're going to win

*If you're in a race that allows contact you best be in first place or dead last when you transform into your first plane. If you're in the middle of the pack be prepared to spend the rest of the race being blown up by idiots who can't fly or assholes who thinks it's funny to smash into you.

*Like the stunt races before, it's all straights and subtle corners that you barely need to brake for. If anything letting off the gas would be more than adequate to get you around 90% of what is offered.

I never saw the potential of these gimmicky races and after playing them, my mind hasn't been changed. There are some vehicles that are omitted that could have been fun to play with and there are other vehicles that are used WAY too much (looking at you Speedo and Besra). Things like the Ruiner barely make an appearance but I've been on the slow as death jet ski a ton. At one point today I got bored and tried to find a standard race...you know...with cars, on the ground, around a track. No luck. On the plus side I had about 500k in winnings for the evening but I blame that on almost everyone's inability to fly a plane in this game, it's actually quite shocking how bad even level 600's can be.

It's just rehashed Cunning Stunts garbage with some newer ribbons.

I think they're awesome. Cunning Stunts was one of the best DLC's we've got and it's nice to see we get some new courses that build on that. Speeding through checkpoints on your bike, only to transition to a plane and flying through narrow checkpoints while avoiding other players; it really gets the adrenaline pumping.

Also, talk about a close finish

I like the concept, it really has potetnial. I played some yesterday and I must say the R* created races are ok, not great, not OK, but ok with a lowercase o.

I'm REALLY looking forward to create some races myself.

I played a few of them, I wish FailStar would let us choose the vehicles for every section rather than hoping you get the right car for each race. Time will tell anyways. To me though, it feels like a waste of time with racing as most people are morons when driving, most times you can't host when you start so that it is only you and friends playing. I just want the Hunter and Lazer to be buyable.\

Speaking of close races, I had a guy/gal beat me by .005secs with the race that you start as a Molotok.

I did five or six of these races last night with randoms. We did it with a mix of standard/contact and non-contact point to point and there was about 12-16 people present on average. I finished towards the back of the pack in some races and in the top five or second for others.

The races were a good bit of fun. The races are like stunt races but you simply transform to different vehicles. I liked the switching and it worked to my advantage since not everyone could keep up with the varying vehicles. It really became some sort of vehicular triathlon to see who was a jack of all trades or not. It was nice to test these skills in a competitive setting. Thankfully Rockstar featured different special vehicles/planes/cars in each race which added much needed variety at the loading screen.

I found it to be more fun with catch up on/contact on (tried it without) because the stakes are higher. But there were also a couple of times folks did bump into me with the intent to sabotage, so it's not all roses. The point to point non-contact races was a nice medium since there was less danger but still a lot of pressure.

While I did have fun, I realized during the races that I'll probably never play them again. Like alot of the adverday modes Rockstar releases, I don't turn on GTA for much of this random crazy stuff. I play GTA for traditional GTA activities and this is far from that. Not sure why I would seek this out over the multiple other things I can do in GTA or even other existing races that are less ridiculous.

While it was nice to answer the question of "What would happen if Lightning McQueen and Transformers combined", I'd really rather have new contact missions or heists or some other plot driven adventure.

Played trough most of them in a full lobby with friends: most of them are fun, there are some boring parts (some long straight lines, series of useless teleports..). Marquis transformation was a nice surprise.

Do you need the Molotok for these races? Or does everyone gets a stock version? Since most of the time u only need to pick a super.

I loved the Cunning Stunts dlc but this is not enough to regain my interest in this otherwise gone-down-the-sh*tter game. R* needs to make something truly new and exciting to get me back into the game. A map expansion comes to mind, in particular anyway, but anything that is not rehashed will do at this point.

People who own a custom can fly it, but quite frankly... the ones I met so far didn't really seem faster than my stock Molotok

Its L3 during races.

Took me 4-5s too, stupid f*cking control schemes.

Not as good as starting a bicycle race as literally the only person using the right button to accelerate :D

Marquis transformation was a nice surprise.

All these years of GTA and people still struggle to fly planes.

It's a fun novelty but will die fast when the 2x$$ is taken off and join the rest of the garbage.

So I gave it another shot today and yea this sh*t is complete utter trash. Yet another mode that had potential ruined by Cockstars incompetence.

I find it very hard to believe no one tested this garbage before releasing it or maybe they did and just didnt give a f*ck.

Why a company would knowingly release broken sh*t is beyond me.

I was thinking about making a race where you can choose to drive a Super or a motorcycle, so it could be like Midnight Club.

I'm going to talk through my personal experience last night. I played 3 hours or so last night and went through multiple phases:

#1 Phase: screw this sh*t

Who on earth makes retarded races like this, eh? Tiny little gaps between walls and underpasses, where jumping off a ledge slightly too fast or veering slightly to the left/right can miss a checkpoint and ruin your race. Urgghh.

And here comes the Besra/Molotok section, where no amount of upgrades or skill gains you even a tenth of a second advantage (unless catchup is on, of course). You don't need to buy customised planes or upgrade them because it makes NO difference. And so boring.

#2 Phase: getting some wins

Watching the rest of the pack floundering because they haven't quite 'got it' yet, and failed to understand the transition in controls between vehicles, or boosting that Rocket Voltic into barriers, or crashing their Mallards round the superb baseball field implementation. And then some friends come online and we the fun ramped up even more.

#3 Phase: I'm done

Hollow victories gets boring and falling behind in other races and not being able to make ANY ground in airplanes gets even more boring. And other friends come online and watching them floundering isn't fun either. Maybe I'd been playing too long at this stage.

OVERALL, very mixed reactions. Full lobbies and 2x payouts will always be welcome but my gut feeling is negative. Me and my friends quit these silly races and went into our weekly time-trial challenge, racing on a proper track where tenths of a second make all the difference. I improved my time and raced really well, and THAT was a feeling of satisfaction and achievement, not just hollow races and silly blunders.

Hm Yea, so after one evening of testing... Idea is cool, implementation is... so-so...

The tracks don't Really Feel all that difficult, especially the jet sections. As many people pointed out, those mostly consist of holding down R2 and steering. The Mallard or even helicopter races See better in that aspect, since you can actually use flying skills to your advantage (imo).

Overall I Feel like the tracks are a little underwhelming in general. I am sure the community will come up with great tracks, but since Rockstar abandoned verified User content I really can't be arsed to sit through 10 horrible (trap) races just to get a single good one. And if you find one, you must probably just race with 4 people. Shame.

It has potential (LIKE MANY THINGS IN THIS GAME), but currently it's lacking

Edit: oh and the Racing Props with shark card ads on them are icing on the cake...

Good concept, poor execution. Probably will not play them when 2X ends. Overall they are bland. And reuse too many of the same vehicles.

I have a custom Molotok and do not feel it gives much of, or any advantage so unless you really like the plane, save your money, it won't help in these races.
